  1. TNRiver46, I'm on fort loudoun all the time & the fishing has definitely been off. I think the fall bite is late, but should be turning on soon. Hopefully this weekend.
  2. this is why other states are reluctant to legalize marijuana.
  3. i live on the lake. i have a wake boat & a bass boat. so, i see both sides on a lot of arguments. it boils down to respect. one day last year, i was detailing my supra & a couple of fishermen come by and start flipping my dock. no problem, i stop & watch for a couple of seconds, then go back to work. all of a sudden, a 6" t-rigged trick worm lands in my boat. on the vinyl. the idiot just start reeling it back to himself. i start yelling "whoa, whoa!" because i don't want the EWG hook tearing the hell out of my vinyl. the jerks just look at me & laugh. i didn't say anything because i don't need them to retaliate & vandalize my stuff. it's just crazy how inconsiderate people are. he should have apologized & hopped out and retrieved the worm. i get tired of the "i don't care, it's not mine" type attitude. i never say anything negative to anyone. one reason is that i love flipping docks, the second is i don't need my stuff vandalized. there is a saying i heard years ago & try to put to good use as often as possible, "you get more bees with honey". some of the previous posters have done this. it's amazing how far being polite & respectful can get you. the world needs a good dose of both of these.
  4. i wear olukai sandals. they are a little pricey, but the most comfortable sandal i've owned. my buddy wears sanuks. they have soles made from the same material as yoga/wrestling mats. i have a pair & they are super comfortable too. they drain & dry quick also.
  5. the mighty bite is gonna slay them..
  6. i bought some livingstons last year & caught some good fish on them. it's one of those things where if you never try them, you'll never know. p.s. don't expect your club rivals to tell you they work, either.
  7. macmichael, i hate to inform you, but it's already been done. there's a guy out of tennessee named "bill dance" and he's been doing it for years!
  8. c'mon, man! i don't use the term "old lady" either, but there's no reason to post what you did. i'm sure he meant no offense. i don't fish with my wife, she has other things she'd rather do.
  9. try slow rolling 1 oz spinnerbaits, or throw heavy swim baits.
  10. sometimes i like to grab 'em by the tail and sling 'em "skipping stone" style as far as i can. my buddy & i have a contest. the loser buys lunch. the record is about 60 feet so far. dinks are the best, but you can usually get a good 8 yards out of a 3 lber.
  11. please don't take offense to this, i'm going to be real honest. i have absolutely no desire to watch a show hosted by women. i don't watch female sports of any type. i'm not against a female having her own show, but i wouldn't have the desire to watch it. i don't care for female sports reporters either. there are some that are absolutely beautiful, but i'd rather watch "mike & mike", or colin cowherd, or any other reputable journalist. i personally feel that they are there because of their good looks more than their talent. i guess i'm not "P.C." enough....... there is a hunting show with a hot blonde that does well. i don't watch it because i don't hunt.
  12. when my fishing partner is clearing a backlash, i like to ask "are you counting line again?" sometimes i throw out a Mortal Combat "GET OVER HERE!" when i've got a good one hooked up. or "get in the boat, you big slonch donkey!" (i stole that off zona).
  13. when i'm fishing tournaments, if other boats start chasing the "bent rod pattern", i like to rock out the rebel flag speedo. that usually stops any "spot encroachment". plus, i get a pretty badass tan. just kidding. i have been tempted to try it a couple of times.
  14. that was crazy.
  15. oregon, i haven't done any fishing from the shore. if you get the chance, i highly recommend Brian @ off the hook charters. he is rated the top inshore guy in the area. my uncle & i had a blast with him. he's great with the kids too. check out his videos on youtube. also, he told me about a "locals" restaurant call "roast fish cornbread". it's the best place i've eaten down there, not too pricey either. google it. the absolute best fish i've ever had in my life. take these suggestions for what u want, just make sure y'all have a blast down there!
  16. this can be a frustrating sport. last thursday night i hooked up 7 fish. ALL of them threw the lure. i was using a sammy, and two different flipping baits. i went home ready to put on a good drunk fest. i got up friday morning and caught a 4lber & a 5lber within 40 minutes of each other. i caught everything i hooked. sometimes you win, sometimes the fish win.
  17. around here it's square bill & rattletrap time in the fall. my favorite is a white chatterbait with a pearl fluke as a trailer.
  18. another for the double uni. it's easy to tie & has yet to fail me.
  19. stainless steel. they sell the "jimmy houston" stainless steel bars of soap at bps. it's good for getting gas, fish, & other undesirable smells off. i learned this at a wakeboard camp about 10 years ago. it works super good!
  20. the next time i catch a dink, i'm gonna try giving it slack & see if it settles down. i just don't see myself trying this technique on any fish over 3 pounds, though.
  21. my money's on a carp, those d**n things get me all fired up until i realize..........it's a carp....
  22. a couple of good cigars, some good whiskey for the campfire/cabin/hotel, beef jerky, bug spray, rain gear, & good company.
  23. i don't care for fish. i'll eat it, but would much rather have something else....hell, like pb&j. i love shell fish, though. lobster, crab, mussels, & oysters are my style of "fish".
