  1. 1/2 in.long?
  2. What Is even worse than the dog and pony show is that they post a 3:15 ET starting time and it starts about 4:30 ET.
  3. I thought the same thing Dwight.
  4. Most folks don't realize that Cabela's was started as a Midwest (walleye, muskey, perch) catalog company. I have no idea where they stand now in catalog, in store, internet sales compared to BPS, and the rest of the online fishing companies but I do know that they try to stock( relevant to the area and preferred fish) tackle. Actually, I just remembered, they started out selling trout flies. Whood a thunk?
  5. I have not purchased 1 durn thing in a month. However, I have an 18 day fishing trip to Guntersville (14 on the water) coming up in just 29 short days. I guess, I will have to push the "order" button on a few ( Ya, lots) of stuff I have in the quay. Why do we keep subjecting ourselves to this idiotic panic that "we don't have the right size or color" from a primate that consumes us????? Because we allow him to. He has a room in my man cave and uses my bathroom. My wife has seen him in there showering. She tells me that he looks just like me. Could it be that perhaps That the "baitchimp" is really me? Do I really just allow my credit card to be subjected to universal violence? Heck, "all I really ever wanted to do is go fishing". or maybe, " all I ever really wanted to do was go fishing" That has been on my man cave wall for 20+ years and I'm not giving a clue to how I feel about the phrases but would sure like to hear from you. If you don't keep tropical fruit in the house, the bait chimp will probably go away after he has eaten all of your credit cards.
  6. I read this whole thread, and kept wondering when someone was going to ask the OP " what do you have now"?. Then the rest of us could fill in blanks with what we (according to our ideas) thought. The way it came down, it sounds like the shopping list all of us have, but with someone else's money. Just buy a bunch of senkos. Problem solved.
  7. Love global warming. tonite -20
  8. Wisconsin had a midwinter and midsummer free fishing weekend. Great idea. Gets the Moms and Pops out with the kids.
  9. Clayton, great to hear about your success rather than your problems. Good Luck in your new job. Keep us informed about that and uninformed about the whatever.
  10. Glenn, I tried to post PO'd with out the P word and was" Modified". I guess a kick in the groin area is ok . Why?
  11. I guess I have to qualify why I posted what I did. I'm not worried about the fact that the newest and latest bass fishing is any different than it was when I started. It is that I somehow came to realize that if I try to keep up with all the changes, I would go broke. Love the Sport/Hate the Hype. I'd be willing to bet $.01 cents that the winning lure in the classic this week will make the company and the angler rich. Nuff said. Nite
  12. Ghoti, go for it. My wife and I debated for a year about it. We did it at 62. She had 40 years as an RN and I had 40 as a salesman. Granted, we both have a modest retirement income from our employers and SS and a 401k that is available if we needed it. However, it allowed us to do all the things we wanted to do like watching our 7 grandkids (scattered around the state) do their thing in sports, scouts, dancing, and scholarship. I woke up the Monday after I retired and my wife asked me to change a light bulb. I told her, tomorrow . I'm not working today. It took me a couple of years to accept the fact that I could sleep until 9:00 am and still afford to pay my bills. It's a really difficult time for people like us that have worked our whole lives and then on that special Monday, we have no place to go. I had customers calling me at home for 6 months after I retired, begging me to come back and take care of them. It's really hard to tell the folks that paid your house payment, car payment, and your kids education that I can't do that anymore. Good Luck. You do know that you can now go fishing any time you want to
  13. I once, back in the 60's carried dried bags of beef blood from a packing plant dock into a railroad car in 90 degree+ heat. Every job I've had after that was my "dream job"
  14. Thanks Glenn, I appreciate that.
  15. As I sit here tonight, in the warm comfort of my man cave ( it's -5 outside with a - 25 wind chill) and a little bit of sippin whiskey left in my glass, I am starting to realize how little I know about bass fishing. I've only been on this hallowed website for three years. ( I'm retired ) Slowly, I have began to realize that the bass fishing I knew 20, even 10 years ago has gone way over my head. I have a 15 year old bass boat, a 10 year old truck and the last rod and reel I bought was the year I retired. My graphs are 10+ years old. I have spent the winter going through the many $1000's of dollars of tackle I have stupidly purchased of the years. 300+ cranks, 100+ spinnerbaits, 1000's of hooks and sinkers, God only knows how many lbs. of plastics and up until this year, every " new and improved" lure they thrust upon us. I read what all of my fellow BR members post and I realize that I just enjoy fishing and will continue to chuck my #200 Bandits, my Zoom u-tails, my Terminator spinnerbaits, Gitzit tubes, and Chugbugs. All of my BC reel are Shimano "greenys" over 10 years old and my spinning reels are Shimano Stradics that are the same age. They work as well as my 69 year old body does. I'm not done though, I'm leaving on March 18th for a 2+ week trip to Guntersville. I just can't keep up with all the "new and improved" I really did catch a bass one though.
  16. Coonedawg, You "liked" my question but didn't answer. Really, all that for $100? Come on man, the line alone, if was 50% off would have been at least $50. If I really wanted to go back to your pic. and count the items, you have what, 50-60 items? So you paid $1.25 or less for each ? $5-8 cranks for a buck or two? To quote an old movie, " what we have here, is a failure to communicate" or just simple B. I'll let you fill in the last letter.
  17. If I told everyone on BR that I have had a bunch of problems every time I tried fluorocarbon, would you all get mad at me? Probably 5-6 brands. It may be me, in fact it may be me, but I just do not enjoy fishing with it.
  18. REDEARTH, I'll bet your using that wood backup tonite.
  19. My energy drink is water. ( Once in a while mixed with 100 proof sippin whiskey) Well, probably more than once in a while. After 2-3, I am full of pi$$ and vinegar.
  20. Come on JF, I've only been on here 3 years and other than a few "spoofing" threads ie: "If we only had one mod", I think the overall opinion of most of us is that the "Mods" do a great job and interact with us and herd us a little when we tend to stray. "The few compliments we get"? Really?
  21. Coonedawg, You got everything in that pic. for $100 or was that the tax? Wow, what a sale.
  22. 6-9 Smallie on Green Bay on a chugbug Biggest LM 7-9 on Toho with a 1/4 oz. chart/white spinnerbait.
