  1. He wasn't with you, even if you think he was. He lives in an old minnow bucket in My man cave. He feeds on the hundreds of pounds of plastics that I don't use. He tinkles on my cranks so I have to change the hooks. He pulls off line from my reels to use in his nest. He whispers in my ear in winter and messes with my head in July. I've taken him on every fishing trip I have ever made and all he does to show his appreciation is to question me about my lack of local purchases. I gave him a $400 swimbait for Christmas and he made me buy a $400 swimbait rod. If I could just find a new home for him I would be willing to pay the rent. My wife of 45 years would be able to get a hair cut once in a while and my grandkids could come over and have Oreos instead of soda crackers. You want him? you got him, the check is in the mail.
  2. Is that over kill or sin full? That collection of jerks would feed a family for a year. LOL.
  3. That is the reason why there should be thread on BR called "BOAT LAUNCH IDIOTS" It would be the longest running and probably most posted thread here. But, where would you put it?
  4. I have 8 "greenies" the newest is a 2005 and the grandpappy is a1996. Other than cleaning, they have never been touched. I spent $120 for each of them and wouldn't sell them for that. If you don't buy it for $50, please send me the link, so I can.
  5. Why, every time I answer a question like this, I go against the common ideas? I have used P-line cxx for forever. Strength to diameter best in the long line of co-poly lines. Breaking strength 35% above posted strength. Very little memory. Comes in whatever color you want. I just like cxx and have never had a reason to change. ( Now for my statement about not agreeing with every one else), I can take your best shots although My ego could be damaged to the point where I head to my man cave and sip copious amounts of very expensive bourbon. That will be your fault.
  6. That's a coal shovel not a snow shovel
  7. I ordered $50 worth of sinkers and at the end, threw in 3 "bluegill "swim jigs. I am impressed with the color. Now, if the ice would go away, I will give all on BR a full and complete review. Check back in 3 months.
  8. Go CXX. Great breaking strength to diameter.
  9. You can all dip your Carrot stix problems in ranch dressing and enjoy.
  10. It's easy to turn ice fishing in to real fishing. Get a good chain saw with a 24" bar and cut a hole 100'x 3' . Haul out the ice and chop it up in to cubes, add a good old whiskey and enjoy while you set up a Carolina rig. You don't need to cast, just walk the lizard down to the end of the hole and drag it back. Repeat both whiskey and "cast" until one of two things happens, you catch a fish and spent the rest of the day toasting your success or you don't catch a fish and spend the day wallowing in your despair while using up the ice you cut and the whiskey you bought to celebrate your anticipated success. P.S. Have a DD with you.
  11. I tried, I really tried. I have only spent about $125 this winter with 3 orders, ie: $65 with Sieberts, $30 with a little tackle shop in MI. and about $ 30 at the local Cabela's. Do not, I repeat do not go to the GYBC website if you are a senko freak. I was sitting here in my man cave last night with a little Wild Turkey and an ice cube and the voice of the bait chimp kept whispering in me ear, "GYBC, GYBC, GYBC". I really did resist for a while but when I added a little more Turkey to my glass, I caved, I folded , I succumbed, I surrendered to the evil primate. 8x9= $72 plus shipping. From now on, I'm not drinking Wild Turkey. It causes me to do bad things. I'm switching to Knob Creek.
  12. Unless things have changed a whole bunch in the last few years, the Zebco 33 was the ultimate starter reel. To quote an old watch add " it took it's licking and kept on ticking" The last one I purchased was about 5 years ago for my oldest Grandson and it was every bit as sound as the one his Dad got 35+ years ago. The only thing you need to do change the line when you purchase it. I think it has Berkley big game line on it out of the box. Try the ole 33, I believe you will be impressed with the reel.
  13. Probably the last reel in that Gander store. Around here, they are all becoming gun/clothing stores.
  14. Ya, spring is here but not "here" Tomorrows forecast : 4-6 in. of snow and tomorrow nights temps. dipping to zero. 10+ for Wed. and Thurs. and up to a whapping almost 30 for the weekend. "We got to get out of this place if it's the last thing we ever do"
  15. Sluggo invented it, Zoom perfected it. Zoom made it work. (And I know the company was not named sluggo, I just don't remember what company)
  16. SirSnook, You are one of the lucky 70 year olds with the ability to be able to do what you do. I was approaching blindness last year and had 2 very successful eye surgeries in Jan. I still need Wallyworld reading glasses to read/thread line but there are so many who can't. If this simple tool @$15 will help them continue to fish, what a great innovation. Today, was my 69th.
  17. Well Maxx, our opinion may not agree with your fact. Your fact, is the opinion you wish all of us would agree with. See how easy each of us can come up with an idea without your input. Braid/leader is the way I wish to fish and your input isn't going to change that fact. Fact is, I really don't give a hoot owl about what you think. InFACT, most of us here will do it our way in spite of facts that you opine.
  18. I posted this same question a month ago. I'm heading down there on the 18th. for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks down there last year and two guides, it became apparent to me that at this time of year it's all about weather. However, most of the fish we caught were on Excaliber XR50's in "Royal Shad", Chart/white 1/2 oz.spinnerbaits and T-rigged 8" pumpkin majic 8" zoom lizards. Have a great trip.
  19. Does it have 4 wheel drive and what kind of mileage does it get pulling a bass boat ? The rest of the specs are not important.
  20. "To really live, you must almost die" Viet Nam '69. "Life is a vacation in eternity" Me in my ( I am totally untouchable post VN years) until I married, had 3 kids and realized that (whoops) work, family and home is where it's at. Life ain't a *****, it's a beach.
  21. Sometimes, there are those who are born with amazing talent.
  22. Now,now Dwight. Mind your manners. LOL
  23. Just use P-line cxx and don't worry about what everyone else says. LOL
  24. I think a lot of us are missing the point of this tool. It's used to thread the line through the eye of the hook, not a knot tool. Most of use old folks need a little help ( some more than others). Pass the line through the hook eye and tie whatever knot you want. Would I buy it? No, but maybe, someday I may have to. $15 is a lot to spend for a tool, unless it will help you keep on fishing. nuff said.
