  1. Thanks for the feedback, the crucial was the only rod out of the three that i got to handle. I thinking in ruling out the dobyns and i didnt hear great reviews about the gl2. So i guess its down to the crucial and powell endurance. What rod do you think is lighter ?
  2. Looking for a stout 6'7-7ft spinning rod for throwing frogs and small swimbaits. I have a baitcaster but im true spinning guy. My lews tourney pro will be in the sale section btw Anyway, my budget is $100-200 bucks. Ive done my share of searching the past few weeks and it seems like the more popular rods in the $100 range is the mojo and veritas. Ive had both rods and would like something a bit higher end. Rods that appealed to me were these three, Dobyns coalition 7ft medium/heavy Shimano crucial 7'2 medium/heavy G Loomis gl2 804 6'8 heavy or 854 7'1 heavy The three things i care about most is being light, split grip, and a short handle. I have a dobyns champion dropshot rod and absolutely love it, something is telling me to pull the trigger on the coalition, just figured id get some opinions, and maybe other rods you can suggest me, thanks fellas.
  3. I just picked up the td fuego off *** for $100. Figured i wasnt going to pass up a $300 reel at that price. Its a great reel, but still like my ci4 2500 and stradic 1000fj better...
  4. About a month ago i lost a 6+lb bass on a sammy. Casted to the bank and bam, fish hit it hard. Had him 10ft off the boat and he jumps and spits the hook, almost cried. It was definitely a topwater day and lost a couple more 3-5lb bass all due to spitting the hook on the jump.
  5. Yellow perch is where its at, best tasting freshwater fish around.
  6. fenwick elite tech smally rod or veritas
  7. My pb was caught at 9 at night under a dock, second best was caught in the 5-7pm range. Ive always done better at night, but i did lose a 6lber in the afternoon a few weeks ago.
  8. Cant wait to try a deps buzzjet.
  9. Whats even worse is before i had cancer i was the guy fishing with no shirt on, out working construction all day in the sun. Now atleast i have a chance to get out there and enjoy the outdoors even if i look like jack hanna on a safari adventure
  10. I had a piece of pegboard on the wall in my garage when i moved in so i made it the rod rack.
  11. I just got the dr shade gloves, there great, definitely recommend them. I use a columbia hat, the columbia spf 30-50 shirts, and hoping to pick up a buff soon, ive only heard good things about them. As a leukemia survivor who loves to fish but cant be in the sun, im thankful for all these companies coming out with sun gear. ps, your post disturbs me greatly...
  12. Topwater lures are my downfall, if i see sammys, zara puppies, or banana boats on sale, watch out i do stupid things
  13. My go to bait is a sammy, love those things.
  14. Ive had a sammy tied on for so long and just cant seem to get to it off, lol. Actually summers here, its hot out and all i want to do is fish topwater early morning and night so it might not ever come off
  15. Nice fish.
  16. hahaha I bought a curado e last year, and a lews tourney pro two months ago and used them back to back and would definitely say that the lews is a better bang for the buck. I only use shimano for spinning reels but buying the lews has opened my mind to expanding to other baitcasting reels, probally daiwa and maybe pflueger.
  17. Go for the tourney pro, i just mounted one on my veritas and loving this setup.
  18. Any kind of budget ? Id go with a two piece premier, medium action, and pretty much any shimano reel starting from the sahara series and up.
  19. Id go with my exact setup, lol. 6'3 medium fenwick smallmouth elite tech paired with a 2500 ci4. Super light and very versatile. Look around, you can find that rod for under $100 shipped on amazon, and a ci4 on ebay in the $150-170 range. Cant go wrong with the stradic 1000 fj or ci4 1000/2500, paired with dobyns, fenwicks, or st croix's.
  20. The owner cultiva mira vibe lipless crank works really well for me.
  21. My bullfrog zara puppy is called ol' trusty, lol
  22. Almost all my bass have been caught on a junebug/plum color so id probally go with that.
  23. Its could be a little bit of both, but i usually blame it on the lake being over pressured
