I hear ya John, im a shimano nut but im playing around with megabass/daiwa just to switch it up.
I love the 50 series shimano platform so much that i find myself comparing every new reel i pick up and always seem to be let down, lol.
Haha, glad you're liking that combo. Get some pics up, I bet they match perfectly.
I've only had mine out once, I respooled with 4lb hybrid. Hopefully get out for a bit tonight...
Pretty much everything John said.
My shimanos get handles, knobs, spool bearings and sometimes shallow spools. Ill also throw screw sets, dragstars, cast control caps for bling.
My daiwas/megabass get pretty much everything the same, but ill do sv spool swaps and carbontex is an absolute must.
JLS hooked it up with some fish arrow's
Will be testing these two out today....
Hedgehog air's, red avail screw set, zpi handle, knobs, bearings. Might throw a red avail side cover on...
Don't use spinning reels anymore but I know plenty of guys use 7&8lb on spinning gear with no problems. I prefer braid with fluoro leaders on spinning reels personally...
Nice reel, I just grabbed one the other day to go with my regular bfs xg.You picked an awesome reel for you're first shimano, also that's the perfect line choice.
Ive always liked them as well.
I prefer a completely balanced rod in pretty much every fishing technique, slightly tip heavy on moving baits would be the only scenerio thats ok for me.
Hated that some of my favorite rods, the cumulus and cumara, plus plenty of highend rods like nrx's still need a buttcap with quarters to be balanced.
Id also go the custom route or just find the factory built rod that balances on the reel nut like it should. All my jackall and destroyer x7's balance on the reelnut or line guide.
