  1. I agree with you on the stradic fj, i love my 1000. Have you handled the new symetre ? Really wondering how that and the new saros hold up against the stradic fj....
  2. Ive been using the 6'9 light, ive had my sustain 1000, stradic fj 1000, fuego 1000a, and ci4 2500 mounted on this to see what felt best. The fuego felt the best at 6.5ozs, rod balances perfectly. Build quality of the rod is great, it looks really good, has a very small diameter handle which i like, and works great for the finesse fishing i like. Dropshotting/1/8 oz shakeyheads. My only complaint is id like the hook keeper down under the grip to hold my dropshot rig... I should also add, its a light rod, it has to be in the low 3oz range....
  3. I use 10lb power pro on my 1000 size shimanos, 15 or 20lb on my 2500 ci4, either one works fine.
  4. Im also a bargain shopper, if i see a rod or reel that ive wanted for awhile on sale most likely im getting it, lol. But, im pretty much 50/50 on rods and reels, i enjoy both and think they both complete the combo, so i want to pair the best reel with the best rod i can. I found a cumulus at a great price and jumped on it, then i thought, i really want a nice reel to go with it. So after much reserching the sustain was the reel to go with, and thats my most expensive combo i own. But, reel shopping is much easier for me, im pretty much 99% shimano spinning reels, rods are a different story, i like getting my hands on all of them and trying them out.... Lately though, ive been paying more attention to shimano rods as well...
  5. Im thinking about trying out the new symetre 1000, at 6.5 oz's its light.
  6. Go with the sustain, its an awesome reel.
  7. Wow, id love to hit some golf course ponds !! Nice job
  8. Also another fan of 10lb power pro....
  9. Id also recommend the ci4 or stradic fj. Im curious about the daiwa ballistic, i havent got a chance to handle one yet, but for the price it seems like a good choice. I like daiwa reels alot as well, especially my fuego 1000a... Also, the new okumas are coming out and are supposed to be alot of reel for the money....
  10. I spooled a few of my reels with it right when it came out. The casting distance was awesome, but i was losing fish and baits due to it breaking. I went back to power pro 10lb braid and im very happy.
  11. For two of the baitcasters ive owned, i really thought the lews tourney pro and curado 201e7 performed really well for the money. Im somewhat in the market for a baitcaster right now, not definitely sure but ive had my eye on the core 51 and pixy, just wish i could get a reel of that quality for a bit less.... Thats why i like my spinning reels. Besides the stella, you can get really nice reels like the sustain and stradic ci4 at awesome prices....
  12. I throw all topwater on 10-20lb braid. Set your drag correctly and its great. You can walk the dog with minimal effort using braid...
  13. I use 10 lb power pro with 6-10lb flouro leaders. 6lb for dropshot and shakeyhead. 8lb for jerkbaits and cranks. And sometimes 10lb if im in heavily populated water with pickerel...
  14. Definitely, i agree. If i lived in texas or florida id be using the 2500
  15. 7lbs of drag is plenty for bass fishing, especially in the northeast.... Its a blast, catching fish on my cumulus/sustain 1000 combo is the most fun iver ever had....
  16. Welcome, i use the stradic 1000 for all my finesse fishing. Really no reason for the 2500 size unless your using 8lb or larger flouro. I use 10lb braid with flouro leaders and the 1000 cast it great. Plus the 1000 reel is a good deal lighter....
  17. i bought the sahara 2500 a few years back when i really got back into fishing, its a very smooth quality reel for the money. A bit heavy, but you dont get the lighter shimanos until you step up to the stradics...
  18. I use the 6'3 medium fast fenwick elite tech smallmouth rod. Absolutely love this rod for topwater. My favorite length is that 6ft-6'6 range. I mainly throw sammie 85-100's, horny toads, and poppers. This rod balances really well my stradic fj 1000. I recently got a 6'5 medium shimano cumulus thats rated up to 3/8oz lures but really excels at 1/4oz. Ive been throwing small poppers and owner zipnziggys, im loving it.
  19. I like 6'8 medium light/medium action rods for finesse fishing, ''hint hint i got a sweet dobyns in the fishing flea market" lol....
  20. im hoping to get a calm day and kayak over to the island and try that lake out, its also been on my list...
  21. I had a few and didnt get any fish. I prefer using a sammie...
  22. haha, i love that commercial.
  23. There very flat and pretty wide for an 1/8oz jig, it looks like its gonna work great.
  24. summertime its columbia and koppen sun shirts, dr shade gloves, a big hat, and my buff. wintertime is insulated shirt, hoody, vest, ski cap
  25. Cant wait to fish these, just got the 1/8 and 3/16 oz yesterday
