  1. Id go down to a 1000 if you wanna save some weight. I use all 1000 size shimanos for dropshot/shakeyhead...
  2. Congrats, thats a great price.
  3. Wow, thats a nice fish, congrats
  4. Jersey is $23 for license $10 for trout stamp Saltwater is free Theres a three rod limit if fishing from shore. This year im buying a deleware and pa non-resident license.
  5. Glad i read this, TW has the Zbone rods on sale right now and was looking at possibly getting one....
  6. I had a veritas micro rod and i thought it was alright. Im hoping to get the new cumara dropshot rod with the micros and see how it performs...
  7. Has anyone handled or bought one of these yet ? Im pretty much shimano only when it comes to spinning reels, but at 6.6oz's this looks really promising for the money. Im curious if its a screw in handle like the stradics or a handle that pushes through like the saharas and symetres...
  8. Since ive been fishing winters i go topwater as long as possible till the bites stops. Then from there its dropshots, lipless cranks, and suspending jerkbaits. And if i cant find any bass, thats when topwater goes back on and i chase spawning pickerel Or trout/yellow perch/crappie, plenty of other fish to go after...
  9. Thanks for the advice guys. Ill take a look at the bearings when the reel comes in thursday.
  10. Are these the spool bearings i want to upgrade the curado with ? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Shimano-Curado-Cu-50E-Baitcaster-OS-Bearings-/221153972509?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item337dcdd11d
  11. Im always looking for deals on ebay and it can be so frustrating seeing right hand reels go so cheap. Ill find a really good deal on a calcutta, or daiwa alpha/sol and get ready to hit buy it now and then i see its right handed. Then i grab a beer and continue the search, lol.
  12. Im pretty 50/50 on my combos, and thats what i prefer. I was going to spring for a stella this year but went for the sustain. I really dont need a $500+ reel that ill always worry about getting scratched in the boat or kayak, or stolen. Im already paranoid about my sustain getting dropped or scratched, haha. Also it wouldnt match my cumulus anyway. My cumulus/sustain combo is almost 50/50, a little more went to the rod. My cumara/ci4 combo is 50/50 My phenix m1/ci4 combo is just about 50/50 My fenwick smallmouth/stradic fj combo went a little more to the reel. Now i have a curado 51e, probally will go with another fenwick smallmouth rod or compre. Im actually trying to build some low budget combos cause i fish with a buddy who has a really small boat, things get stepped on, pushed to the side, etc. Im always holding my rods for dear life, lol.
  13. Aetos threads keep popping up but no one seems to have bought the rod yet, lol. Im also eager to know how the rod feels since i love my elite tech smallmouth rod so much...
  14. Yea, when I can free up some money that will definitely happen...
  15. I got the curado. I have a 6'6 medium Berkeley lightening laying around that I'll use till I find a deal on a nice medium light/medium action rod. Thanks for all the help fellas.
  16. 99% sure i just landed a curado 51e for a really good price, thanks to Et525i
  17. Im actually proficient in using baitcasters with lures 3/8 and heavier, 1/4oz and lighter would be a learning experiance Heres one more reel i found at a good price. The okuma komodo 6.5 oz's, $138. Anyone have experiance with these? I know the perfect reel would be a curado 51e, just cant find one....
  18. I was looking for a used carbonlite on ebay but couldnt find one for a lefty. Im actually all over the place, ive been looking at used curados, a daiwa alpha ito ai, core 51's. I figured the lexa 100 has been getting great reviews, if i wanted to sell it in the future then i probally wouldnt lose much. Also, im 99% spinning so i throw light baits, so id like a baitcaster that can do that well...
  19. Nice, next question is do i get the 6:3:1 or the 7:1:1 gear ratio. This would probally be used for topwater and jerkbaits.
  20. I'll generally take a Daiwa over a Revo every time. The Lexa is a cracker, very well built. Do you know if you can put the cork knobs on the lexa, i like the looks and feel of them over the stock knobs.
  21. Im a spinning guy and i have all high end stuff. Well its winter, im bored and want to try another baitcaster setup to see if it will stick this time, lol. Last year i had two bc combos that i bought and sort of liked, i just didnt use it. Its seems whenever im heading out and reaching for a rod, its one of my spinning rods... I sold both combos to fund more spinning reels and now i sort of regret it. I had a lews tourney pro on a veritas micro rod, and a curado 201e7 on a st croix mojo rod. I read all the threads so im pretty informed on what reels everybody is talking about. The two budget reels im looking at are the new revo s, and daiwa lexa 100. Id prefer not to spend that much so im not out much money incase it doesnt stick again, lol. revo s is 7.4 oz's and $114 lexa 100 is 8 oz's and $ 104 Thats the best prices ive found on ebay. Im pretty much 50/50 on this one. I prefer the lighter weight of the revo, but i prefer daiwa/shimano build quality. What do you guys think, thanks for all opinions
