The only disadvantage of a smaller reel would be if you like to use a heavier mono/flouro on your reels. I only use 10lb braid so its very managable on 1000 size reels. But i agree with roadwarrior, a 2500 series shimano/daiwa can handle anything.

New combos are, 6'8 medium cumara with stradic ci4 1000 6'5 medium cumulus with sustain 1000 fg 6'5 medium cumulus with core 51 6'3 medium cumara with chronarch 51e 6'6 medium berkley lightning custom with citica 201e The only combo i still have thats untouched is my 6'3 medium fenwick smallmouth rod and stradic 1000 fj I also have to find another rod for an extra curado 51e i picked up, leaning towards another fenwick smallmouth rod or phenix recon 2.

Went to a local fishing flea market yesterday and scored big. Got some daiwa mono for 2 bucks. 3 brand new lucky crafts for 30, a rc 1.5, lvr mini lipless crank and live pointer 80mr. Then i got 5 used pointers for $35. Then for $10 i got a jackall dagored, exact lure i just sold, lol, a manns crank, river2sea crank, and another live pointer 95mr. Then my new book came in from amazon, $1.25, lol....

I could take pics next time im going out, my kayak sits about 1-2 ft out of the trunk and i use a bungee cord to keep the hatch down. I only have an 8ft yak so it works out great.

I have a 4 door car. I took the back seat out and lay my rods down in the back. When im taking the kayak out, i shove the kayak back there and lean my rods against the front seat.

I tried the 4lb nanofil and thought it was amazing until it started breaking apart and was loosing lures. Im pretty sure the berkley fireline in the really small diameters is good stuff. I love fishing ultralight gear with braid, its alot of fun.

I'm also a fan of the mist green flouroclear. I like using 6-8lb leaders for spinning, and 8-10 for baitcaster. I bought some new line today to try out though, I got yozuri hybrid soft, seaguar red label, and sunline sniper. I'll give u a heads up with these lines. I'm making it a goal to try the vicious flouro as well....

Conquest is not on my agenda, too much money, lol. That's my cycle helmet box BTW....

Thanks kicker. I put the orange bocas in the curado last night and had it out today. I was testing two brakes with the tension pretty loose, then one brake with the tension tighter. I gotta find the sweet spot...

Yea, 17lb is a little much for a stradic. Anyway, double palomar for knots to lures, uni-uni is what i like for leader knots...

I went on a shimano rampage this month, but i hold to hold everything inside me back from ordering one of the xtreme's in the bargain room...lol

I also use the mist green flouroclear and love it. Ive tried full flouro on spinning reels and hated it. Its very nice though if used as a leader with braid. For baitcasters, i havent tried it yet, only braid, mono, and copoly's. Everybody talks about invisix and sunline so ill probally try those two out soon....

I prefer fedex but havent had a problem with either service.

Add a used citica 201e to last months craziness. That makes 3 baitcasting rods, 4 baitcasting reels, and plenty of lures/baits...

You could use a heavy mono, but i agree with others, go with braid and tie flouro leaders for other kinds of fishing...

I like lightweight rods, but i can appreciate a well built balanced rod alot more. I loved my dobyns champion, that thing balanced so well...

You cant go wrong with either purchase, they both go hand in hand. I have high end rods, and regular prescription sunglasses with polarized lenses. Id probally go with the rod though, you can get decent polarized glasses at walmart.

I agree with everything kicker said. I fish a very clear blue quarry sometimes thats not pressured at all and i do really well with the dropshot and topwater, and i try to pick a bait as natural as possible, usually baby bass or bluegill colors.

I think i was 16 or 17 the last time i fished out there, that would be almost 14 years ago... But at that time we were just fishing grubs and the banjo minnows and getting 20+smallies a day. Right about when it was getting dark, i threw out an arkie jig and landed a 4lb+ smallie and ill definitely never forget that moment. I hope to get out there this year for the first time in a long long time....

I always throw a pack of peanut butter crackers in my vest pocket incase the fish are biting and we dont wanna stop, lol. Most of the time will hit wawa and get gatorades, hoagies and chips.
