  1. Thanks for the headsup, ill fish it this season and tear it apart in the winter when i add the carbontex drags in all my shimanos.
  2. I really like xship, but my older saharas and symetres feel way more solid than the new models...
  3. Thanks, pretty sure this is going on an older cumara.
  4. Since i can remember ive always had a skateboard, bmx bike, car or motorcycle in my hands but always made time for fishing here and there. Now, if i have any free time its right to the lake and im fishing. All my other hobbies have been put on the backburner for the past few years and its hard to do anything else when its the weekend or any other free time i can find. Am i the only one or has fishing taken over all you're other hobbies as well ? Ive had bike, car and motorcycle builds on hold for far too long....
  5. Thanks guys, i have successfully got down to 1/8oz baits with my shimanos so hopefully i can do the same with the daiwa. I'll just have to play with the magnetic control till i figure it out.
  6. Ive got used to using braid with flouro leaders for baitcasters and spinners and found it works really well for me...
  7. Ive been looking for a while and finally found a pretty good deal on an alphas 103 type F. Ive only owned one daiwa before, a fuego spinning reel so i know they make a really good reel. How does this reel compare to a core 51 in quality and in throwing light baits ? I see it has the magnetic brake which im not used to, do you guys think its easier to use compared to the shimano brakes ? Im excited to spool this up with my new supercast line I got this model, id love to get it painted the purple color. I think ill add the abec 7's and levelwind bearing. I did the spool bearings in my 3 shimano bc reels, is it easier/same to do in the daiwa reels ?
  8. I really like the older cumaras. I almost bought the new model but held back. Besides topwater, all my fishing is with braid and flouro leaders and i dont want to worry about my knots getting stuck in the microguides...
  9. Id also recommend the *** *** rods for the $100 range.
  10. Hornytoads, sammies, jerkbaits, lipless cranks
  11. Thats a 2-3/4 yozuri, lol
  12. Technically i had my first bass in early feb, it was only about 1lb, got him on a dropshot rig. I got out wed and friday this week on one of my favorite private quarries that my friend lives on. Wed we had one bass and all pickerel, it was 20mph winds so we cut out early, couldnt stop blowing around. Yesterday we got on the water around 1 and fished till 5. I had 2 bass and i think 5 pickerel. I was using a jackall 1/8oz wacky hook with a 4.8 inch jackall flickshake worm in green pumpkin. Landed all my fish on that rig but one pickerel caught on a luckycraft pointer 78. I got a 3.3lb'er and a 2lb'er to kick the year off right. I think ill have to stick with that flickshake
  13. I used trilene xl and transoptic when i really got back into fishing a few years ago. Its a great line for the money. Since then ive dropped it all together for braid and flouroclear but wouldnt hesitate to pick up a spool if i was in a jam... Edit, trilene would be great for topwater and jerkbaits but wouldnt you want flouro for the cranks ?
  14. Looks like you guys had an awesome trip, congrats on your pb's. Love your quote in the video A-Jay, " I like 9's, 9's are good"
  15. I just picked that lure up as well with a dog-x and wanted to try them both out. And they fish amazing. Im also still looking for that 6'10 cumulus, hope to get one soon...
  16. Im using 20lb braid for topwater, and 8lb flouroclear leaders for jerkbaits...
  17. Loving your shimano lineup !! ^ Had the cumulus/core/megabass pop-x out today, its so crisp...
  18. I've handled the endurance rods and just picked up a 683 max rod, I think you get a lot of value for the money.
  19. I only use full braid in heavily stained water or topwater. I actually stopped using full fluoro for leaders cause i was having trouble with my knots, its so stiff i couldnt get the knot to cinch down right. Now i just use flouroclear in green mist, the knots always come out great and im 100% confident. Ive horsed in huge pickerel and a big muskie on 6-10lb flouroclear leaders...
  20. Make sure you have a 2500 size reel, i tried the 6lb hybrid on my 1000 size reels and it was non stop coils and memory. I got rid of that stuff asap and went back to braid with flouro leaders. I did pick up a spool of 8lb supersoft im going to try on my core for the hell of it...
  21. I'd trade a deps buzzjet for a mega bass dog-x Jr
