  1. thanks brian, i had it out for a bit, its pretty sweet. thanks, got rid of a practically brand new chronarch 51. Ive been all over the place with baitcasters and found out i really like the daiwas the best. I picked up the 103 type f two weeks ago, yesterday i got a px type r, and today i got a good deal on a tdz 103ml. I decided to to keep my curado 51, i just love this reel and my core 51 is gonna go to cover some of these new additions, lol.
  2. Talk to Darren, he has nothing but good things to say.
  3. Got rid of a really nice shimano to get this jdm aurora.... but, it a pretty sweet reel....
  4. If money is tight, sahara or president, if you have a higher budget get the stradic fj.
  5. I had mine on the rod rack in the garage at my old house, now there nice and comfortable on the rod rack in my room, lol
  6. Sending prayers bud
  7. We've had them for awhile up here in jersey on the deleware river and all the tributaries running off it. I dont think they've done any harm on the local waters, but im not a biologist so who knows.... they are fun to fish for though.
  8. bassinbrian, quitlimpin, and hooligan, im jealous.... you guys have some awesome combos.... Mine are changing as well, but this setup has been working for me 6'3 m elite tech smallie rod/ stradic fj 1000 6'5 m cumulus/ sustain fg 1000 6'8 m cumara/ ci4 1000 6'3 m cumara reaction/ Daiwa alphas 103L type f 6'5 m cumulus/ Core 51 6'8 m cumara/ chronarch 51 6'8 mh cumara/ curado 51 I also have a 683 powell max, and 6'9 phenix m1 light i need to find reels for, hoping to pick up another daiwa....
  9. Sweet reel !!
  10. I didnt use them when i was younger and now i always have a lipless crank tied on a rod. Totally agree with bankbeater, ive caught so many different fish on them including bass, muskie, perch, pickerel, crappie.... I love the the owner lipless cranks and excaliburs
  11. Reasons i dont use microguide rods are i fish year round and they ice up quicker, also im leary about my leader knots getting stuck. Im perfectly happy with the size guides on my older cumaras and cumulus rods.
  12. Just picked up a daiwa alphas 103f and have to say I'm pretty amazed. Might have to sell some of my shimanos to add more daiwas to the collection....
  13. I can pull it off with two or three, currently im using 7 though....
  14. Thanks, ill have it out tomm, i found an old spool of 6lb yozuri hybrid and just spooled it up. Cant wait to try this reel and see how i like it compared to my shimanos.
  15. Came in today, i paired it up with a 6'3 medium cumara reaction rod. I think im putting 8lb flouro on and this will be a light crank rod. I didnt realize this reel was a 5:8 gear ratio, i thought it was a 6:3. I think i might do that pixy gear swap in the future... Wondering what line i should put on, i bought three different lines to try out that i havent used before, seaguar red label, yozuri ultrasoft, and vicious flouro, hmmm.....
  16. Man, that's a lot of cumulus rods, sweet....
  17. Agree with everything craww said. The sammy 85 is also my favorite topwater bait, there isnt a spook out there that has an action like the sammy. Only reason i still fish spooks is for when im fishing topwater in heavily pickerel populated lakes.
  18. Nice job clay
  19. I dont think you can go wrong with an *** at $100, ill be picking one up soon.
  20. Could you tell me the difference between the 103, 103 type f and the 103 r ? Also on the magnetic control, is there a sweet spot to keep the dial on ? I had one on my lews tourney pro and had no idea how to use it, lol.
  21. Thanks for all that info ghoti !! I'll have to price out the gearing swap, I really like the quickness of my core's 7:1 ratio.
  22. I use the g finesse hooks cause it saves time attaching your leader compared to the vmc's where you have to tie two knots. But, they are expensive....
  23. I hear ya on that man, after working, trying to spend time with the gf, and getting the chores/errands done, it can be tough to find time for anything else. Im always trying to fill that little bit of time with fishing.
