  1. Most of the dsg's in my area have fishermen working in the fishing section so its usually stocked with good stuff. We have jackall, luckycraft, great selections of plastics. I always get awesome deals on braid and rapalas when they do liquidation sales. I also hit the clearance sections everytime i go, always get good deals on strike king baits and most plastics.
  2. Thanks guys. My old record was 3.6lbs which i caught on a bullfrog colored zara spook. I catch 2.5-3lb picks all the time, i rarely get over that mark though, was definitely exciting out in the kayak
  3. I'd get a medium action spinning rod to cover the light duty.
  4. All my spinning combos have 10lb power pro, all my casting setups have 20lb. Ive used power pro and slick, i like both but power pro is cheaper and it works for me. I also hit the sale at dicks, got a few 300yd spools cheap.
  5. I typically throw texas rigs on a medium heavy rod. Ill either use my 6'8 spinning cumara, 10lb braid, 8lb flouro leader, or my 6'8 cumara casting, curado 51e, 20lb braid, 10lb fouro leader. Ill use a medium action rod if im in a pinch, but i typically use them for dropshot/flickshake.
  6. You can get ci4's on ebay for about $170, and stradic fj's for about $135-140. Cant go wrong with either one.
  7. For that price range id look for an older model stradic.
  8. I've ran 6lb mono and 20lb braid.
  9. Best post of the thread, now let's lock it up.
  10. I will be buying both when they come out Im excited about the chronarch, not so much about the ci4, i feel like the new ci4 will basically be a sustain fg, not much of a difference besides rapid fire drag and x-ship.
  11. Hope you guys are alright, that twister was nasty. Post up if you can so we know you guys and gals are safe. Prayers sent....
  12. double palomar for braid, clinch knot on mono for me.
  13. Ive had a few st croix rods and liked them, but i definitely think theres better options out there for the money. Id much rather be fishing a cumulus, cumara or dobyns extreme.
  14. Love my core 51, i can palm it easily, its super smooth, and so d**n light at 5.5oz's.
  15. i like power pro, slick, and suffix performance braid. I usually stock up on regular power pro when it goes on sale...
  16. i just got a new cumara spinning rod with the micro guides. Had it out the other day side by side with my older cumara and didnt really notice that much of a difference... I also had a veritas with the micros, i really dont notice any difference, i think i have dead hands, lol.
  17. What spinning models are you fishing with ? Stradic fj's are bulletproof, and you can practically submerge a ci4 underwater and that thing will still be as smooth as the day you bought it, lol,
  18. Glad your liking shimano reels rockchalk, il never part with my curado and core 51e's. Ive tried a crapload of reels out these past two years and ive got it down to shimano and daiwa
  19. I've always used FedEx, recently I sent out a brand new Powell and it showed back up on my doorstep broke in half. I've used USPS in the past without issues, think I'm going to try ups next. Still waiting for FedEx claims to cover my rod.... I have a buddy that travels alot, he put his reels in his carry on bag and brings a 7ft tube in the overhead compartment with a few rods in it, lol.
  20. I had the 8lb on my core and it was a really manageable line, i wouldnt hesitate to put 8lb on a 2500 size spinning reel. You could probally get away with 10lb though...
  21. Got em used off another fishing forum, there off a shimano caenan reel. Took the bearings out of the stock core knobs, then stole the bearings out of my hawgtech knobs for the curado.
  22. Trying some eva knobs on my shimanos....
  23. I think theres a used avid in the classifieds, id pick that up
  24. I like using spinning rods in my kayak, i feel more comfortable fishing with them over baitcasting rods. I also use my old gear cause they get beat up more when switching rods, while your catching fish, etc. Id stick with what you have...
