  1. 4.5 in mean green is my goto Ds bait.
  2. Id look for a curado g series with that budget.
  3. Ive fished spinning reels for the past 25 years and prefer it, but started using baitcasters these past two years and definitely understand why fishermen use them. The hardest thing i had to get used to was holding the rod while setting the hook. Im very used to holding a spinning rod and it does feels weird. And like someone else mentioned, on extremely windy days baitcasters can be a pita. I dont really throw anything over 5/8oz so spinning gear works fine for me. I have been thinking about getting a swimbait combo, and if i do that will definitely be a baitcaster, thats one thing i wont use a spinning combo for.
  4. The new chronarch in a 50 size definitely has my interest.
  5. I know dsg carries crucials, id take the two mojos back and grab one of them...
  6. I use the red, green, and yellow. Usually color coordinate it with the right rod/reel combo.
  7. I had a 2500 ci4 for two years, and now a 1000 and they are both very smooth. Btw, comparing a Shakespere with a ci4 is assinine...
  8. Nice, I almost bought one off eBay but ended up getting a great deal on a sustain 1000 fg.
  9. Just go ci4 2500, you get the bigger spool, and the reel will be lighter then most 1000/2000 size reels.
  10. you can put the 7.1 core gears in your curado/chronarch
  11. At one time i had a 2500 ci4 on my 6'3 medium fenwick smallie rod, that balanced great. Now i have a stradic fj 1000 on it and that balances great as well. Ive owned alot of different spinning reels and rods and it seems like reels that weigh in the 6.5-7oz range balance perfectly. My sustain 1000 is 6.5oz's and balances great on every rod i have.
  12. For $250 or less, id be looking for the sustain fg on sale on ebay. If you cant find one, id go with the ci4 or stradic fj 1000.
  13. Is there reason why this has to be a 2000 sized reel ? A 1000 sized shimano would be more then adequate.
  14. Cant go wrong with either one personally, i have both and use them side by side with no complaints. The fj is heavier but a smoother reel. I think the ci4 looks cooler, its a whole lot lighter, both reels have alot going for them.
  15. Like rockchalk said, shimano greases and oils there reels heavily for all the fishermen that dont do proper maintenance. Get the reel cleaned and tuned and you'll be amazed.
  16. If you have $150 to spend, id look for a used cumara or avid,
  17. I like the jackall iobee, koppers frogs, and booyah. Black if its night time or cloudy, white/yellow belly if its sunny or daytime.
  18. Mines a casting rod though, hes looking for a spinning rod.
  19. If you got $100 to work with, id go *** or fenwick elite tech smallmouth rod.
  20. I thought the same exact thing when i pulled the knobs off my chronarch 51. Really not sure why shimano did that... But you got options, you can throw a curado, core, or hawgtech handle on...
