  1. First thing i do when i buy a reel is clean it, the makeup applicators is a good idea. The qtips do break down pretty quickly. I should start cleaning stock bearings, ive got so used to just buying boca os bearings, and i just picked up a set of the hawgtechs to try...
  2. Ive been scoring some sweet deals on megabass baits, oh man its an addiction....
  3. Thats a sweet combo right there
  4. Id go 6'9 light. I bought that rod right when they came out. Great dropshot and 1/16oz shakeyhead rod.
  5. Sweet reel man. Dont let it go, i kick myself everytime i think about the conquest 51 i had, should of held on to that one....
  6. I havent been out for a week, ran down the road for a half hour to throw the buzzbait, a flapslap, vibration-x, and the shakeyhead. And..... No fish Got the two aldebarans lined up with zpi knobs and bearings, the mg got boca spool bearings. Have to pick up the boca or hedgehog tool to do the bearings on the bfs. The core has eva knobs, might switch them up soon....
  7. $250 would get you a Fenwick Elite tech rod, and Stradic 1000/2500 FJ. Would be a solid dropshot/shakeyhead setup for that money....
  8. Awesome combos Tim !!
  9. A korean made pure fishing reel vs a high quality japanese made reel is not even a fair comparison man.
  10. Rarest fish for me would be a 10lb musky in south jersey which is pretty uncommon. Went to the lake just to cast out a newly spooled stradic fj 1000 with 10lb braid. I threw a 1/4oz lipless crank and thought i snagged a log. Was definitely a once in a lifetime experience....
  11. I use 1/8oz yozuri pins minnows. Ive always caught my biggest trout on them. The smaller x-raps work great as well.
  12. Dont use mono anymore but i always liked berkley transoptic.
  13. Get a ci4, ive watched my friend dunk his numerous times, reel works great and its smooth as butter....
  14. Jigs and Carolina rig are my unlucky baits. For everyone That doesn't have luck with buzzbaits, keep on fishing them. That was the one topwater bait I didn't use till this year, sorta wrote them off and stopped using them. I put the sammies away for a bit and start working the cavitrons and they caught my three biggest bass this year, lol.
  15. I agree with skeletor, 1st gen cumara used can be had for $150 and under. Awesome rod, i have threee and will never part with them. If you look around you can get deals, i scored a cumulus for $180 !! I agree with others though, everyone has certain guides and reel seats that work for them, i love shimano eva handles, guides are great, and the rods are light. The two other rods i would be looking at is the powell endurance and st croix avid, both are awesome rods for the money.
  16. I'd like to give the 1003 a shot but I've spent way too much money on other JDM goodies.... And my sustain works great, but at this price the certate is very appealing.
  17. Awesome deal man.
  18. Got em both out for a little while today. Love the fact that I opened both reels up and there wasn't excessive grease everywhere. Put bocas in the mg and its smooth as butter. Will make a great crankin reel. I don't have the hedgehog tool so I couldn't put bocas in the bfs. But I spooled it with 10lb braid, turned off two brakes and left two of the eight on. Very smooth and very lightweight. Combo is under 8oz's with the cumulus rod. Will be a great topwater/jerkbait reel and for all finesse tactics. Can't wait to burn some 1/4oz buzzbaits in the spring with the 8:0 gear ratio.
  19. $100 range with be an omem or used crucial.
  20. I have 4 shimano casting rods, 3 shimano spinning, and 1 Fenwick spinning rod. Out of the 8, im usually using 4. A frog rod, cranking rod, top water/jerkbait rod, and a dropshot/shakeyhead rod.
  21. Sweet reel. I have bocas os bearings, a carbon fiber zpi handle, and red zpi knobs going on. I'll get some pics up tomm.
  22. The bfs is either going on a 6'5 or 6'10 cumulus, not sure yet...
  23. My black friday purchases. Gotta give credit to Japan tackle. Ordered wed morning and the reel came this morning, from Taiwan !! Got the 5:8 mg which will be my new cranking reel. The bfs is the new finesse reel.
  24. Ordered some bearings, thanks guys. Have a good holiday.
  25. Micro guides are the reason i got rid of my newer cumara. Not a fan, i prefer regular sized guides. All my fishing is braid with flouro leaders so id rather have the knot pass through better. Plus, i fish year round and micro's ice up alot faster...
