  1. The scorpion is one of the only jdm shimano reels i havent owned yet. Ive always been curious if under the cast control cap if its like a core where its just a spool bearing and a clip. Or if its like the curado with a spool bearing and spring. Im guessing its like the curado cause its the jdm version of it, but i could be wrong...
  2. You guys all know im a shimano 50 series junky.... I think my chronarch ci4 lasted 2 weeks before i sold it, lol.
  3. Shimano over lubes there reels for two reasons. For saltwater fishing, and people that don't maintenance there reels regularly. Get your qtips out and get to work !!
  4. Havent used it but its worth a shot. I use the there mono and its a great line !!
  5. Reel guy here, love tinkering with them. Making them the absolute lightest and best that they can perform. With rods, I'm excited when I first get it, then it sits on the rack... lol. I do cherish picking up clean discontinued 1st gen cumaras & cumulus rods though Its funny but i downsized and I'm at 10 rods and 5 reels, I just pair my combos now for whatever place I'm going to fish now...
  6. Thats a loaded question, lol. I typically use braid over any other line solely for how good it casts, line management, and sensitivity. Besides topwater, there are guys that crank with braid and also finesse fish. Ive got it down to, topwater/froggin - 30lb braid crankin - 12lb mono spinning finesse - 10lb braid/6lb flouro leader baitcasting finesse - 6lb flouro/mono
  7. I cap myself off at around $300 for rods. I really like the cumulus/cumara line and there typically well below that price. Id love to try a megabass someday, but im so happy with these rods that im not in that much of a rush... Now, when it comes to reels theres no budget, lol. If i see something i want ill sell a crapload of tackle, (like im doing right now) and get it
  8. Thanks, the knobs are pretty cool, there a bit lighter then the septons. Being aluminum, sorta feels a little more connected with the reel...
  9. Yep, was trying to get a casting rig to throw 1/16oz shakeyheads & flickshakes. I spooled it with 8lb flouroclear and was shocked the distance I was getting over the stock spool. I'm using a 6'5 cumulus but considering a 682 Recon. I'm gonna downsize to 6lb line, just have to figure out which one as I'm a braid guy... I've heard good things about pline CX, sunline super natural, and sufix elite/siege.
  10. KTF spool came in today, hitting the pond in a bit to test it out. Reel weight is now 4.76oz
  11. I came from only using spinning gear. Had 6 combos and was a diehard spinning guy. Then I started using baitcasters and slowly went that direction. Now I always have my one spinning combo on me, as well as my 4 other BC combos. I'm getting more & more into finesse fishing with casting gear but I'll always have at least one highend spinning combo. I'm still more accurate with my trusty old spinning rod...
  12. Happy Fathers Day to all you guys !!
  13. 6'5 Cumulus, Shimano Aldebaran bfs xg, 10lb braid, Sammy 100
  14. I baby my 6'5 & 6'10 cumulus rods, and always looking for more
  15. Your good, if anything you might be able to fit a little more braid on there...
  16. I just want them to bring the Cumulus and 1st gen Cumara back...
  17. Going through my Zip Baits collection this morning, love these things....
  18. Check out the Tatula and Powell Endurance.
  19. Cumulus, bfs xg, and a balsa bull. Topwater Bliss...
  20. I have the 6'3 fenwick smallie rod. its rated up to 3/4oz but 1/2oz - 5/8oz would be the max id push it. 3/8 - 1/2oz is the sweet spot. Its very light rod as well, 3 oz's i believe...
  21. Go with TW, pay the $10 and have it on your doorstep the next morning
