  1. the double uni is my go to knot, i do 5 wraps on each side. I have tried the alberto and it is a smaller knot, but its harder for me to tie.
  2. I've been using maxima ultra green with great results. I was using sufix elite, has a bit of stretch though...
  3. Not sure if your a kistler fan, they have a 48 hour sale on the helium 3's right now. The 6'9 medium light is on sale. Or the klx are nice i hear... http://www.kistlerrods.com/store/helium-3-medium-light-6-9-fast-fishing-rod.html#.VCxE6ZRdXQQ
  4. I like sufix performance braid followed by power pro...
  5. Lipless cranks !! Second for me would be a 4 inch keitech easy shiner on an underspin...
  6. Ive only lost cheaper baits and mainly plastics to pike. I have lost a pop-x and a few sammy's from snags. Very happy im out of the swimbait game, if i would of lost some of those baits id be sick....
  7. Haha, thats what my paypal accounts for
  8. Yep, its the u.s model pixy...
  9. Thanks man, the stock bfs spool is decent. At around 11grams you can throw weightless plastics, really excels at 1/8oz. The ktf spool is 7grams. Start up speed is great, I get nice distance on 1/16 plastics which I mostly throw. I can send a popx a country mile... The alphas finesse is a sweet reel, would be real nice with the Megabass finesse spool...
  10. Wow, your comment depresses me !! I have my dream reels, my ktf aldebarans and conquest 51. My dream rods would be the megabass arms challange, and a custom finesse rod on a k2 or nfc blank...
  11. Bob, send some perch fillets up my way !!
  12. Ive used the ci4 and ci4+ extensively and would definitely go ci4+ The x-ship and drag are huge improvements over the original ci4.
  13. Got a nice 3lb striper on the pop-x lastnight, really got to test out the drag and shallow spool on that alde... Gear 6'5 Cumulus Alde bfs xg/ ktf spool 6lb Maxima ultragreen GG Bass Pop-x
  14. The magseal and daiwa rotor would be two reasons id definitely go with shimano. I hate how daiwa does there rotors, shimano has the beveled edge and the line just flows off so much better. Plus, shimano line management is the best... Hows that rod balance ? Ive always done well with 1000 size shimanos on 6'10 and shorter rods. 2500 and up on 7ft + The closest comparison i could think would be, i had a 6'8 medium heavy new cumara spinning rod and i had it paired with a ci4+ 1000, ci4 1000, and sustain 1000fg. All weighed between 6-6.5 oz and balanced great. A 7oz 2500 would of been heaviest/biggest reel id go on a 6'8/6'9 rod...
  15. Couldn't agree more. Id love to have a custom built off my 6'3 Fenwick smallie or 6'8 1st gen cumara spinning rod blank. Its just easier and cheaper to go pickup the recon, lol. Ill be thinking this over the winter...
  16. Nice reel john !! That reel is on my list, might get a jdm shimano over the winter... 1. They are spacers you put under the spool. Ive had ci4's come perfect out of the box, also had a sustain that needed one or two to balance out the line placement on the spool. 2. You can spool your reel either way in the picture, just make sure the line is coming off the spool in the right direction if you decide to lay it on the floor.
  17. I had the 682 which is a power lighter and 6'8 length. Was just a hair too light for my finesse fishing. Ive considered going back for the 683. I think you would really like the 713, should work great with 1/8oz. The recons are a little overrated, so there typically a 1 -1 1/2 power lighter then there rated. I typically throw 1/16oz flickshakes, shakeyheads, and 1/8oz dropshot. Have considered getting a custom built rod over the winter on a k2, scv, or nfc blank. Or finding a production rod... Im hoping to get a k2 blank in my hand someday, ive got to handle nrx's and scv blanks...
  18. I know you said you want cork, but the Phenix recon2 713 would be ideal. There very lightweight, sensitive, 1/8-1/2oz rating, and priced right. Just an option...
  19. Yep, #10 power pro is 2lb diameter. I'll use mono backing if im spooling a regular spool. If im spooling a shallow spool, its straight braid taped on. Fishing with 10lb power pro on 1000 size stradics was my absolute favorite way of fishing until i started playing with shallow spools in casting gear.
  20. I regularly use 10lb braid on my casting gear for open water baits. 30lb is the heaviest i go if im in the slop...
  21. Gotta order directly from 13's website.
  22. Cmon, you know shimano is the best
