  1. I traded ZMan a few old original chatterbaits for a plano box full of soft plastics and new chatterbaits. I messed up and put a zoom trailor on one the chatterbaits...which resulted into a big ball of elaztech/plastic gunk.
  2. shakey head, drop shot, 1/8 oz tx rig pegged with a ultra vib speed craw.
  3. Whatever you do...if you ever buy z-man products, ALWAYS keep them in the original package. If they are even in the same plano box as other types of soft plastics, you'll have a mess.
  4. dude you need to have more faith in the spinnerbait! On cloudy days from Feb-Dec, I have a spinnerbait tied on.
  5. Got a tournament coming up at the end of March. Water temps should be in the high 50's-low 60's. From what I remember, there's one big grass flat on the lake (2' - 3' water depth). Would I be crazy to throw a frog or would you just pick it apart with a jig or tx rig?
  6. yea, we've got a little tournament on March 3oth. I hope it stays warm. They probably wont be on the beds by then, but they'll be close I think.
  7. If I need a 5th fish, I grab a spinning rod with a 1/8 oz weight and a zoom speed craw and hit the banks.
  8. Highs are gonna be in the low 60's to mid 70's for the next 10 days! Wont be long and the fish will be hitting the banks around here.
  9. whats up man...wheres bouts in SC are you from?
  10. put it on a bladed swim jig...you'll be amazed.
  11. Now that we've covered all of the sponsors... hahaha jk Red eyes and jerk baits are a must in early season.
  12. Dont set your standards too high...the water is still kinda chilly. Slow down and go fishing!
  13. I could be wrong, but did you say it was grass all the way to the bottom? If there's open water up under it, fish it. But Im not so sure if it's matted grass all the way to the bottom.
  14. Are there any awards or recognition given away to someone who catches a state record bass? Just being curious. I know that guy who caught the world record got all kinds of publicity. Wasnt sure if catching a state record bass would be anything like that...to a lesser degree of course.
  15. 1. With a baitcaser, I ALWAYS have my finger on the line. I guess it's just something Im comfortable with. Spinning rod, not so much so b/c it's just not comfortable. 2. If we're in a big boat and we're throwing fast moving baits (spinner bait, crank bait) to the bank, then yes, both in the front but that's usually the only case.
  16. Only thing I can figure about the braid is maybe the water clarity. Even if the water is clear, I still use braid on my spinning rods. Personally, I use 10lb braid with a 7lb flour leader. You can always dry a dropshot and a shakey head when the bite is tough. Good luck!
  17. Stroking a jig works for me. For some reason, it doesnt hang up quite as much and you get some reaction strikes as well.
  18. I heard they were crushing them on the alabama rig.
  19. Personally, I've never been a part of a club but I do think the BFL/FLW route is a more do-able route. I fished a few BFL tourneys as a co-anlger last year and plan on fishing some more this year. Eventually moving up to the boater side. It's awesome how Wheeler went from fishing the BFL's to winning the Forrest Wood cup in that short amount of time.
  20. Yeah, in our sunday school class this past sunday, we talked a little bit about that Tebow situation that happend last week. You could only imagine at the different point of views that were thrown out there.
  21. How cool was it to hear "I Can Only Imagine" blasting out at the classic when Pace won. I'm sure alot (if not all) of the anglers are christians, but to have christian music as your entrance song is pretty awesome.
  22. yeah but if a college has a fishing team and is willing to help me out a little, I'd rather go there than to a school didnt...and wouldnt.
  23. Yeah, you have a point there. Plus, I won my Loomis so I wouldnt feel quite as bad for putting a little mark on it. haha When I got it in the mail and saw the sticker price on it, I was taken by suprise to say the least. $475.00 is a bit much for an angler like myself to put down on a rod. lol
  24. Personally, I think it gives guys (and girls) a chance to be a part of a team even if they dont have the physical gifts to play other sports like football, baseball or basketball. There's a high school down the road from where I live and most of the team says the same thing. Face it, some folks just dont fit in with the jocks but still like to compete. Some colleges are also starting to give scholarships for fishing which I think is awesome.
  25. Yeah, i dont know about putting any marks on my Loomis. haha
