  1. Rumor has it the state emptied all the hatcheries. Don't know if that's true, but the source I got it from is pretty reliable.
  2. Nice crappie. I'd love to get into a bunch of those.
  3. Is there any particular color your looking for? A friend of mine has some and he never uses them. I'd be more than happy to ask what he wants for them and ship them to you for cost.
  4. Purchased this reel last fall. Loaded it up with 10# mono put it on my Shimano Expride 6'10 jerk bait rod took it down to the lake and thew a light crank bait into the teeth of a 15mph wind and could not get it to overrun even with the side brake adjustment backed all the way off. Amazing reel, will be buying more for sure.
  5. I use 10# braid with 7' of 8# fluro and as others have stated you should keep as much slack out of your line as possible on the fall which is when most of your strikes will occur. I fish spoons the same way it's all about the cadence and the amount of slack in your line.
  6. I've always been a Shimano guy with my baitcasters, but as stated I was impressed with this reel, now to see how it's longevity will be compared to Shimano. Tough to put down my Cores and replace them with Lews I hear the Mentanium MGs are sweet reels.
  7. They're a bit pricey but I couldn't believe how well it worked. Impressive.
  8. Recently bought a new Lews Pro Ti and I can launch this thing into the teeth of the wind and very seldom get an over run.
  9. Way to stick with it Mike.
  10. First thing in fixing a problem is knowing you have one. You sir have achieved not only knowing you have a problem but then doing something about it. Congrats in battling and overcoming your demons. ?.
  11. Congrats on a really nice boat and a really nice wife. Enjoy both. Maybe take the wife out for a nice dinner.
  12. Shimano Expride 6'10 medium/fast casting. Great rod.
  13. Open face spinning reels are VERY easy to take apart clean and oil, (do not use any of the contact cleaning agents in a spray can) reassemble and your good to go. You can get directions on youtube on how to take apart and clean. If you want to change, I would look for a used older Shimano Stradic 2500 very easy to find and maintain. For a $100 you'll have a very gd reel that you can hand down to your grandchildren.
  14. You tying looks gd. Sorry about your dad, but your doing a gd thing and spending time with him is good for both of you.
  15. I'm from Northern Ma just below the NH line. Which I believe is colder than So. Carolina. I use Cold Gear and yes its pricey but I've owned mine for over 10yrs so they last. I've never been cold with these on even when smelt fishing in Central Maine, matter of fact they're so warm if I spend any time in the house with them on I start sweating, they wisk away moisture, are very light wgt, but they are tight like spandex which some people don't like.
  16. I use a baitcaster 7' MH, braid to 10lb floro.
  17. I have the same experience as you. Every rod I ship is at least $30+++ best to try and sell local if possible. Lots of times if a sportsman club is having a sale or flea mkts.
  18. Never had a crappie or any fish commit suicide. "Take me I'm yours" LOL. I hear there are some huge crappie in Webster.
  19. You say you don't want to spend a lot, but what is a lot? You could just get a tarp and support it well with strapping, and that would do if you removed any standing water. Heavy duty tarp are priced according to size and will usually last 2-3 yrw if taken care of. Biggest issues are sun and supporting the tarp so there is NO standing water.
  20. Sorry just checked the place that had it and they are sold out. Ebay and amazon are loaded with the stuff. don't know if you've tried the new Domin8 but I bought a spool of 10 pound bout a wk ago and the stuff is just as gd if not better. Again sorry bout the mis information but as stated ebay and amazon have it in all the sizes, colors and amounts.
  21. Found some in about 10seconds on A VERY popular tackle store, has it from 10 to 50# Easy peasy.
  22. I am looking for someone in the Lowell, and or South east NH area who enjoys bass fishing and has the time and money to do it. I have the boat, motor and trailer, just need someone to share time and expenses. I do not tourney fish at all and have no desire to do so. I fish MA, NH and Maine preferably during the week but I do wkends as well. I am retired and have two boats one for Quabbin and a 1875 Lund Renegade all equipped. If this is something that interest you PM me and we can meet for coffee and go from there. No drugs or heavy drinkers please.
  23. Tank of a smallie. Congrats Mr Strife,
  24. Nice boat that will give you many yrs of fishing pleasure.
  25. Looks similar to a Sammy top water.
