  1. Eye color is directly related to how they dress that day
  2. Really can't fix stupid...someone he was with must have come forward and said he caught it and then purchased the License. OR...he was braggin he caught it early and then went and purchased the license and F&G did the math. Fishing illegal either way.
  3. I think if someone wants to have fun with the rig or any version there of ...that’s fine. I feel if you’re fishing any tournament in any state, regardless of size it should be illegal...I fish "mostly" for fun, sure its nice to win a tournament now and again but I don't get hung up over winning a few bucks. When enjoyment becomes stress you need quit, its like the guy who wraps his 9 iron around a tree. The Alabama rig is perfect for the guy that "has to" be the big tuna....that should start a feud.
  4. Alabama rigs are outlawed in New Hampshire and I'm very glad to see that happen. The state doesn't recognize that as a lure...how about your state?
  5. Alyssa George... I fish Waukewan & Winni all summer and I will be happy to share my thoughts but first>>> I'm gonna go out on a limb here and hope no one takes it wrong. I fished /guided and owned Virginia Outdoorsman on Smith Mtn Lake. When I got to NH I felt lost because everything I learned in VA was hardly used up here...just plain different. The majority of what I see here (club members) is Senko's. So what did I start throwing...Senkos...Rigged Texas and wacky mostly because that’s what I saw everyone using. I think that’s a bad habit that I bought into and I just did not give myself enough time to take what I learned and apply it. Instead I jumped on the same boat. Don't get me wrong "they" throw other stuff but by far it’s Senkos. I switched towards the end of the year and started throwing twin tails and tubes. The twin tails (smoke with Blk Pepper) on a 2/0 hook on Winne worked well for smallies...Nice results. Green pumpkin tubes also did well, I know that's still plastic but I was hesitant to switch away from the Senkos. This year I'm getting back to more of what I learned in VA I just need to tweak the colors and the presentation. For me getting stuck on mostly one bait was a mistake...Too comfortable is not good. Sure there are “go to” baits when nothing else seems to be working, there always will be; but in my opinion don’t be so quick to follow. This year because I never threw jigs I’m focusing my efforts on them. I’m reading and getting great info of this site…can’t say enough about this forum. So if you see my new Lund Predator (white) with a 115 Merc on the back on Winnie or Waukewan come say hello! I’ll have a jig on the fluorocarbon. I'll try and get a pic on my profile... but for some reason it won't load up.
  6. I for some reason never use jigs; my quest this year is learn how to fish them properly. What rod works well, depth, technique and so on…So I was wondering if I can get some input from those who fish them often and do well with them? Funny how we get comfortable with certain things we throw. I always said I would get out before a tournament and use them until I get proficient enough to fish them during tournament but that never happened! We fish a lot of clear lakes here in the N.E….lakes Like Winnipesaukee where you can see the bottom at 20’ and the smallmouth fishing makes you drool. So color matters but everything else should be the same. Thanks!
  7. I use to own Virginia Outdoorsman in Smith Mtn Lake VA and sold litterly tons of baits. Zoom and Yamamotto I would say where the two biggest Brands as far as sales. Jigs, Texas & Carolina rigs soft plastics were the most popular by far But since we moved to the Northeast you can pretty much forget anything that we used in VA. Seems here in NH everyone is hell bent on Senkos wacky rig...very different way of fishing, can't remember last time I saw someone using a jig!
  8. If you were to make a quick list of seasonal techniques based on Largemouth and smallmouth...stating location (SE, NE, SW, NW ) conditions, color, type of bait and presentation what would it look like? Here's an example All NE fishing >>> LGmouth - May - windy - chartreuse spinnerbait -slow roll LGmouth - July - calm -Yamamotto green pump. twin tail 3/0 hook on structure SM mouth - august - calm - 5" pumpkin Senko - wacky rig SM mouth - June - calm - drop shot - 4" Zoom black finesse small hook Be nice to see how everyone thinks...maybe get some new ideas!
