  2. Yes, I would have thought there would be more local interest in a M&G at Anna. I made a post in the Northeast forum for the Maryland guys.
  3. EDIT AS OF Sept 6.................................................................................... As I can't bring a covered dish or anything cold, I'll bring the dry-goods. I have: napkins paper plates plastic utensils red plastic cups Plastic table cloths a variety of chips a variety of dips (I'll need some heat for the Salsa and Cheese dip) Brownies - I'll have my wifes Brownies, they're to die for... And my boat ( I can take two non boaters )
  4. I'll bring chips and dip; I can't bring anything that requires refrigeration because I'll be camping, so it's chips or whatever dry-goods we need. help me out with some suggestions, i.e. paper plates, cups, paper towels, napkins, what types of chips do you like?
  5. A letter from Grandma: (Grandma is eighty eight years old and still drives her own car.) She writes: Dear Grand-daughter, The other day I went up to our local Christian book store and saw a 'Honk if you love Jesus' bumper sticker . I was feeling particularly sassy that day because I had just come from a thrilling choir performance, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting. So, I bought the sticker and put it on my bumper. Boy, am I glad I did; what an uplifting experience that followed. I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection, just lost in thought about the Lord and how good he is, and I didn't notice that the light had changed. It is a good thing someone else loves Jesus because if he hadn't honked, I'd never have noticed. I found that lots of people love Jesus! While I was sitting there, the guy behind started honking like crazy, and then he leaned out of his window and screamed, 'For the love of God!' 'Go! Go! Go! Jesus Christ, GO!' What an exuberant cheerleader he was for Jesus! Everyone started honking! I just leaned out my window and started waving and smiling at all those loving people. I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love! There must have been a man from Florida back there because I heard him yelling something about a sunny beach. I saw another guy waving in a funny way with only his middle finger stuck up in the air. I asked my young grandson in the back seat what that meant. He said it was probably a Hawaiian good luck sign or something. Well, I have never met anyone from Hawaii, so I leaned out the window and gave him the good luck sign right back. My grandson burst out laughing. Why even he was enjoying this religious experience!! A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that they got out of their cars and started walking towards me. I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this is when I noticed the light had changed. So, grinning, I waved at all my brothers and sisters, and drove on through the intersection. I noticed that I was the only car that got through the intersection before the light changed again and felt kind of sad that I had to leave them after all the love we had shared. So I slowed the car down, leaned out the window and gave them all the Hawaiian good luck sign one last time as I drove away. Praise the Lord for such wonderful folks!! Will write again soon, Love, Grandma
  6. Don't know if all of you are aware or not but the guys from the Southeast forum are holding a Meet & greet at the State Park at Lake Anna Sept 22/23. We'll have a random drawing at 0600 for Boater & Non-boater, and meet at the end of the day for big fish bragging rights and a cook out. Some of us will camp arriving Friday and departing late Sunday or Monday; it's all very flexible. But we should have some fun around the Ole campfire. 10. you gotta call a doctor!" LOL, LOL,, thanks I needed that today.
  11. ??? (You don't want to know what I'm thinking) Yes, she likes card & board games,, and just talking. I'll work on her to get her to come. Maybe you can get her on a boat, I can't. I just Bing'd "Cornhole"...... oh, it's a toss game LOL..
  12. I have a PFD's, and plenty of soft plastics, spinner and buzz baits. Bring your personal stuff, i.e. rods, lunch, drinks, sun screen, rain gear, etc.. EDIT: Is anyone bring family that will not be fishing, just hanging out on shore? I'm trying to get my wife to come, but her idea of camping is a nice quite B&B. My Granddaughter did get her to sleep in the tent out in the back yard one night though.
  13. LMAO big time,, He's sleeping on the couch tonight
  14. As a one time world traveler, I was trained in situational awareness by my employer. It saved my but in many third world countries where westerners stand out as easy targets. Maintaining an active daily awareness of your surroundings is important to your safety wherever you are.
  15. A male patient is lying in bed in the hospital, wearing an oxygen mask over his mouth and nose. A young student nurse appears and gives him a partial sponge bath. "Nurse,"' he mumbles from behind the mask, "are my testicles black?" Embarrassed, the young nurse replies, "I don't know, Sir. I'm only here to wash your upper body and feet." He struggles to ask again, "Nurse, please check for me. Are my testicles black?" Concerned that he might elevate his blood pressure and heart rate from worrying about his testicles, she overcomes her embarrassment and pulls back the covers. She raises his gown, holds his manhood in one hand and his testicles in the other. She looks very closely and says, "There's nothing wrong with them, Sir. They look fine." The man slowly pulls off his oxygen mask, smiles at her, and says very slowly, "Thank you very much. That was wonderful. Now listen very, very closely: Are - my - test - results - back?"
  16. "I kinda figured that we were friends."
  17. Can we get some idea of who is planing on attending on Saturday, who will be there on Sunday, who is a boater, and who is a non-boater? If someone hasn't already started one, I can do a spreadsheet if everyone sends me a PM with their info, i.e. Name Cell Phone Boat yes/no Sat yes/no Sun yes/no I will be there Sat & Sun with a Ranger 185 VS. As of now I have a seat available for both days. As for helping for expenses, I do not expect anything, I'll trade the enjoyment of meeting a new friend for the fuel & oil. But maybe a word of caution (with the above post in mind) - you break it, you've bought it. Nitro, Zoff, others, just let me know what I can do to help with the cook out, i.e. $$$, labor, bring something (what), etc.
  18. Oh well, I guess my first cartoon was over the top. Is this better???
  19. X2, Please let me know if there is anything I can help with. Also, I like the idea to call this a Meet & Greet as it doesn't take any wind out of the Road Trip sales. This is for the Moderators - This text editor sucks,,, I highlighted starting with the "I" and ending with the "n" in happen. This text editor has been an on-going problem.
  20. Question, how many, and who, can make it both days? There may be BR members available both days; I'm arriving Friday afternoon and departing Monday.
  21. Recently, while I was working in the flower beds in the front yard, my neighbors stopped to chat as they returned home from walking their dog. During our friendly conversation, I asked their little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, "If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?" She replied... "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people." Her parents beamed with pride! "Wow...what a worthy goal!" I said. "But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that!" I told her. "What do you mean?" she replied. So I told her, "You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and trim my hedge, and I'll pay you $50. Then you can go over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out and give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house." She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?" I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party." Her parents aren't speaking to me anymore.
  22. I'm good for either day and like the idea of the state park; I'll camp Fri, Sat, Sun nights; E/W camp site number is TBD. See you then. Edit: I'll be a boater and can take a non-boater. Is there going to be an agenda for the day???
