  1. Oh, here we go, I said I'd have to show you VA guys what to do "As of December 1, 2009, the fees for the license are as follows: (a) Resident $10 ( Nonresident - 14-Day $6.50 $6.50 - 1 Year $13.00 $13.00" http://ddoe.dc.gov/service/get-fishing-license BTW, My wife said we live below the Mason/Dixon Line so that makes us Southerners, but I reminded her it's all relative to location, location, location.
  2. Smallwood State Park (Sweden Point Marina) is $10.00 with 6 ramps and ample parking. I believe I was told it's free if your an overnight guest, I'll double check this. There is a free ramp further up the Mattawoman Creek which is about 15-20 min from the park but it's only one ramp and parking is limited; but it's a great place to launch from if your interested in the upper creek, and have a small boat or a yak. The Marshall Hall Boat Ramp is a good half hour from the park and has two free ramps with ample free parking; and it's closer to DC if that is a goal. This ramp is open on the main river and subject to winds and river currents.
  3. YES ! I'm glad to see that old line still gets a rise out of you VA guys.... LOL That line is only about 45 years old with me and I got it from a co-worker back around 1968 - 70. My VA co-workers would ask me for my pass port when I worked in VA, I would tell them I'd show it to them if'n they could read; they threatened to blow the WW bridge to keep me out of the state and my response was they would sit idle all day cause there wouldn't be anyone to show them what to do...... Well that's what I'm here for - laughs - if not, I might as well head on down to the senior center and play cards with the old folk. As for target practice, I'm not worried, I'd probably be safer in front of your gun than driving on N. VA roads. BTW, I have VA blood in me too, my Mom was born in Staunton.... You guys still get dizzy when you look up north for too long???
  4. That's probably the only reason your alive today
  5. All in good time, I'll have to take it slow for you southerners you know...... all in good time.
  6. Even though you guys are Southerners, I would enjoy having you come up anytime you can make it, and we northerners will forgo the need for passports on your part. We can do a day trip, or a weekend for you worker-bees, or some days during the week for you retirees. If your interested PM me and we can discuss details. You'll need a tidal Potomac license, and if you would like to fish within the Nations Capitol you'll also need a D.C. license. There's something special about fishing DC, on one side you have National Airport with its busy jets, on the other you have the National Monuments, you may even get to see Homeland Security pulling some training excise where they run around on the water like a bunch of kids playing Cowboys & Indians. But beware, I'm not a pro fishing guide, I have days where I can't buy a bite, then I have other days where the Striper's won't leave me alone. Just let me know what you can fit into your schedule and we'll work something out.
  7. Thanks for the info. Oh, I haven't yet started on you guy's south of the river
  8. X2 Out of 280 homes in our Association I'm the only one to go against the covenants while protecting my Constitutional rights of life, liberty, and the Pursuit of Happieness....
  9. LMAO, OMG, someone shoot me, I now have this image in my head and can't stop laughing, my sides are killing me.......
  10. You may need to do a two stage vote, where we pick our first choice of the final 4 or 5.
  11. I had a "half Bass" truck for a short while, the right side cover came off (I had painted and replaced the right side taillight) my guess is the chemicals in the paint didn't agree with the covers adhesive strips. I tried to order just the right side cover from the manufacture, (V-Tech, Inc.), and they said NO, they could not send me just one side, so they replaced the complete set for FREE, all I had to pay for was shipping, (OMG there's that word again, but I digress) I was amazed with their response to my problem, they could have just as easily said SORRY, but they stepped up to the plate for me and hit a home run. IMHO,,, Bottom line, if you want a set buy V-Tech, they're an American company, not some off-shore import.
  12. Got them on-line at: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sku/Vtech/Tail_Light_Cover/V1627191.html?tlc=Headlights+%26+Lighting
  13. Thanks ! Really, I had no idea ! Been through MD inspections many times with my RAM covers and they never gave them a second look. Also driven through all Mid-Atlantic states without being pulled over. Some how there is a square inch measurement they have to meet to be US DOT approved. But we all know you people in VA are strange to start with.
  14. Oh people can still see me, they're DOT approved.
  15. I never could count on the plants out flow, it was an on-again-off-again location with SMB, LMB, cat's and perch. I've done better on the bridge pilings up river; but my best place is Penrod's Cove next to the north side of the WW bridge. Thanks to Ken Penrod's efforts, old bridge decking from the original WW bridge was used to make fish reefs within the cove. This location has long been an important spawning ground and nursery on the river; unfortunately, the best hatchery on the Potomac (Smoot Bay) was destroyed by the construction of National Harbor (NH) just on the south side of the bridge; replacement of the original WW bridge with a larger multi-span bridge took it's toll on a fragile echo-system as well, and along with the increased boat traffic at the NH Marina the area may never recover. If you've never fished the Potomac, plan on fishing it within our nations capitol, the photo ops are great.
  16. Yes, I know we're off topic.... We're giving Glenn's head a chance to shrink back to it's normal size
  17. I surprised no one commented on his knees But all joking aside, these are among the best vids on the subject I've seen on line, and it appears it all was rolling right off the cuff without any "Q"-cards. Not bad, not bad at all, from someone from Seattle.
  18. Sam, the list of lakes/ponds I posted covers a wide variety of water so there would be something for everyone. Like NF said we need to pick a top five to start with; but we could also use the list for one-on-one meets too. For those of us with larger boats with fixed engines VA requires a fuel line cut-off valve while on electric only lakes; it's not a big deal, but something we need to know before launching.
  19. Congratulations Endless, and Mama too ! Hope mama is doing well, she looks great in the pic's. This is for her... @---,--'----- (rose)
  20. Got some new Bass taillight covers for my truck. Painting and putting them on was very easy; if you want to know how just shoot me a PM.
  21. I thought that would have been logical but didn't want to assume....... I didn't get the memo or the org chart
  22. ? ? ? ? ? ? Now I'm going in my corner and pout
