  1. A Martian walks into a cafe with a Raygun in one hand and a bucket of Puckaluck (green martian manure) in the other. He says to the waiter, "Me want coffee." The waiter says, "Sure, coming right up." He gets the Martian a tall mug of coffee, and the Martian drinks it down in one gulp, picks up the bucket of puckaluck, throws it into the air, blasts it with the Raygun, then just walks out. The next morning the Martian returns. He has his raygun in one hand and a bucket of puckaluck in the other. He walks up to the counter and says to the waiter, "Me want coffee." The waiter says, "Whoa, buddy. We're still cleaning up your mess from the last time you were here. What the heck was all that about, anyway?" The Martian smiles and proudly says, "Me training for NASA upper management position: Come in, drink coffee, shoot $h1t, leave mess for others to clean up, disappear for rest of day." Wait for it…… yes…… yes……. No, that didn’t work for me either
  2. X2, rather that teach the kids a sport, all they do is teach them how to hit a ball.
  3. Did you mean putrefaction?
  4. You don't want to get stuck on the side of the road with a bad wheel, it can be very expensive. My Ranger 185VS did not fit on a Tilt-bed truck very well, and it took around four hours to get to a shop after I first stopped. You can carry a complete spare rotors, bearings, seals, tools, etc. but you may not be able to work on the side of a busy road.
  5. A lot of truth here, you can't joke with anyone; even here on this forum. We have raised generations of whiners. I think it started at the end of WW2 when parents wanted to desperately protect themselves and their children from the horrors of life as they saw it; and it continues today. The result is people cannot cope with people or the realities of life. Maybe we should change all ethnic jokes into Martian jokes.
  6. Great ! Thanks. I don't know if the reel has early features or not, it looks very basic.
  7. If your thinking of using Braided line, I would go MH for pulling the Bass from heavy cover or deep cranking. I have an Garcia Ambassadeur 5000 that I picked up at an Estate Sale some years back; its been setting in a drawer in my workshop. The reel has 800200 on the foot; can someone tell me what the foot number represents? The reel is in great shape, like it was never really used. The only problem is it's RH wind and I use LH, so that's why its been setting in a drawer.
  8. Also, when working on a reel it helps to lay down a light colored hand towel as a work mat, it will stop small parts from running away from you.
  9. Duck seal??? Are you talking about the thick grey/brown clay like putty used to seal cable/conduit entrance holes in walls; or some other product by the same name? I have corrected installations where someone has used RTV Silicone to install a transducer and could not get the air out of the connection; the RTV is just too thick for the bubbles to move (and they used far too much RTV). RTV is very difficult to clean off the transducer and hull; there is no solvent that I know of that dissolves RTV; it has to be sanded or scraped off.
  10. I believe a good rule-of-thumb is to let out line to five times the depth of the water. I use 100 ft. of 1/2" (I think) line. I have times where I let out all the line; but a lot depends on how soft the bottom is.
  11. LOL on wet & fussy... But is sounds like you just need more anchor line so you don't pull anchor with a wave. But if the bottom is hard it could be difficult to get a good hold. I found the more I used the anchor the easer it got. Cheers
  12. Can you contact the kayak manufacture, they have probably already worked this subject before. I've installed STTH transducers in bass boats, but never in a yak. Depending on the flex of the yak's plastic hull, I would go with a thin epoxy. Start by sanding the installation area and bottom of the puck transducer with a rough sandpaper (80 or 100 grit); carefully clean the dust from both areas; use plumbers putty to build a dam around the installation area; find a way to hold the transducer in place while the epoxy cures and practice putting the trans in place with the hold-down; when your ready, mix the epoxy and complete the install. Remember to work out any air bubbles from under the transducer when you put it in place. If the epoxy does not stick to the yak's plastic hull as the hull flexes (there are some plastics that do not bond well), it can be carefully chipped off the transducer and some other adhesive tried. But I would highly recommend you make an effort to contact the kayak manufacture first, it could save you a lot of time and aggravation Good luck.
  13. The Potomac didn't make the top 100 fisheries "ON THE PLANET" !?! Maybe having a tournament at National harbor has put a pin in their ballon.... what a bust that was Or maybe the river is suffering from.... Small bags at the scales? Too much pressure? Too few ramps? Too little area support? Too few (no) hotels near ramps? The ones around here don't support boat recharging, and I'm told they don't like extension cords crossing walkways for insurance reasons. Too little coordination of resources between jurisdictions? There's none actually. I don't know
  14. EOD personnel are crazy people...... Go EOD !!!!
  15. Try to get accustom to working an anchor if the location will support it. If the wind is strong and I feel there is good reason to fish a wind-blown location I will, at times, drop anchor up-wind and pay out line until I'm in position; then I'll work the location at different depths and with different lures, i.e. fast bait such as a spinnerbait or crankbait, then a slow bait such as a worm or jig, then repeat the process but change bait types. Then when I've worked the area at all depths, and with different baits, I'll pull anchor and move to the next location which may only be two casts away. The process saves the batteries, and a lot of aggravation.
  16. I feel the same way; I would rather the keep all their free gifts (their not useful to me) and just let me pay for the magazine alone.
  17. Yes, most were lakes. They also had the St. Lawrence River, Columbia River, Red River, Mississippi, and others. The St. Johns in Fla. made 48. In years past the Potomac was very popular with B.A.S.S. Actually, I'm kind of glad the Potomac didn't make the list; maybe we'll see less out-of-state anglers on the river and they'll focus more on the Upper Chesapeake bay.
  18. Has anyone noticed in the May Bassmasters magazine the Potomac didn't make the top 100 fisheries "ON THE PLANET" !?! Too much pressure? Too few ramps? Too little area support? Too few hotels near ramps? Too little coordination of resources between jurisdictions? What do you think?
  19. . Looks like a Tuna mated with a Swordfish. Is it mounted???
  20. Did you get a weight or girth measurement? Landing that fish on 10 lb. line is a tribute to your angling skill and that of your team mates. Nice way to start a road trip. Well done.
  21. Maybe someone didn't take the time to read it, or they failed the test R E A L L Y bad.
  22. Are there any Pay Lakes around any more? When I was a kid we would go to a lake (a very large pond now that I'm grown) where you could fish, cook, and eat your catch. They had all kinds of pan fish in that lake.
  23. If I can help it I don't bring any Catfish into my boat, I'll unhook them on the side cause I don't want to deal with the slime
  24. X2, I know something of the history of the Potomac; and even though Pres. Johnson started the cleanup of the river with the Clean Waters Act back in the 60's, I don't think we'll ever truly get red of the heavy metals and so on that's imbedded in the muck. At one time the Potomac was known as the Nations Sewer.
