  1. No, Bass TV most likely......
  2. What are they standing around for? I see fishable water (='_'=) how's your boat doing? Did you get everything back together and working??
  3. This is for all you shade-tree mechanics out there. I just encountered a problem with my starting battery going dead on me while I was out fishing. Everything was going fine starting the engine as I was running & gunning from fishing hole-to-fishing hole. Then one time I went to start the engine and then it would not turn over. When I got home I started looking into why and realized I needed a service manual on my engine to properly test the charging system. So I priced a service manual at Mercury Parts Department, it was $100.00 plus shipping for a new hard copy. That’s rough, so I looked on eBay and they had it for $50.00 plus shipping for a used hard copy; that’s better, but I kept looking. Then a Bing search came up with a site called Tradebit, and they had the same manual in a PDF file for only $8.99 with no shipping required; and I could have the manual right then and there. This PDF file is excellent, it’s clean and clear, I can find things with its word search feature, and if need be print out what ever page I need at the time. So if you find you need a service manual for your engine try http://www.tradebit.com its worked great for me.
  4. I agree with Fishing Rhino, Sam, and the others. I have also had chronic lower back pain for thirty some years now, it's no fun. I'll add one thing from my lesions learned book; when your back is acting up, don't climb on ladders or work above the floor anywhere you can fall from. You can be working when your back "grabs" you with a sharp sudden pain that can through you off balance and you could slip. Or, your back could act up to the point where you can't move, and can't get down from your work site. Let your boss know what's going on so he can help you with safe work assignments; he doesn't want to fill out all the paper work if something goes wrong on the job, so he'll work with you while you get better. Good luck. EDIT: BTW, get a note from the Doc, for your boss, saying you have lower back pain and are being treated.
  5. I can't agree more, and the result you received is an on going problem; next year I'm going back to the Sports Store or a DNR office for mine.
  6. Any idea when you'll have an opening, and what you would like to do while your here? We could check out the park, tour the river, fish, whatever....
  7. Yes it will....... The jonquils are blooming, the Maple Tree leaf buds are popping, and the tree frogs are out doing their mating sounds. Next thing you know and the waters will be filled with idiots on their PWC buzzing around, and power yachts & sail boats will be everywhere. So enjoy a quite day on the water while you can. Spring is a coming!!
  8. The price is right; I just paid over $100.00 for Navionics Navplanner2 which is similar but has less capabilities than Navionics Mobile for $14.99; even if you get the add on Map Option ($5.00 I think) it still makes it a very good deal in anyone's book. This past weekend I did a side-by-side comparison between my Garmin CXS76, the Lowrance in the boat, and the Navionics Mobile on a iphone 5; the tracks between the three were the same. I did have to run the iphone on a charger cable because I was out for some 10+ hrs, but the iphone was easier to use and got more use among the three.
  9. Yes, look in "Help" for "GPS", "Save GPS Position" for directions. It's easy to do.
  10. X2 on what Sam said. The Potomac between the Rte. 301 Bridge and DC is my home water; and I can tell you that it has many faces on the same day depending on where you are, wind direction, and wind speed. So play it safe. As for boat storage, look on CraigsList for people that want to make money renting out their out buildings, garage, or yard. Years ago a friend rented an old Tobacco Barn from a farmer; it had some real nice drive through parking with plenty of space, but no power. Another friend answered an add for renting a garage, but it was too narrow for his boat; so they hit on a deal where he could park next to the garage in the yard; that deal came with power! So keep your eyes open, use CraigsList, news papers, and network with friends & family.
  11. Yes, it has them, and more. I have used it for just a month now and love it. Get the additional add-on "Map Option" for extra features it's more than worth it. Here is a link to Navionics Mobile http://www.navionics.com/en/mobile-pc-app Click on North America, then click on the left box for "Marine & Lakes: USA", then select your state and it will list the coverage.
  12. Yes. Put the dielectric grease (Di G) on the wires before you connect them to the plug and receptacle; then put it on the plug prongs. I have used it for years in my trailer connectors and battery terminals. It prevents oxidation on the connections; on the boat I'll even use it on the crimp style wire connectors. If you have a hard time connecting or disconnecting your trailer connector (regardless the type) it's time for some "Di G"
  13. IMHO, unless you plan on removing the TM while the boat is in storage I would recommend a connection block where you connect whatever size battery feed wires to one side of the block with ring connectors, and whatever size trolling motor wires to the other side of the block with ring connectors. You want as few connections as possible. If you want to remove the TM from the boat then go with a plug & receptacle setup, i.e. the battery feed wires directly into a receptacle, and the trolling motor directly into a plug; such as this http://www.cabelas.com/product/Boating/Electric-Trolling-Motors/Electric-Trolling-Motor-Accessories%7C/pc/104794380/c/104716980/sc/104312880/T-H-Marine-Ranger-Style-Trolling-Motor-Plug-Receptacle/699783.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fboating-electric-trolling-motors-electric-trolling-motor-accessories%2F_%2FN-1100550%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104312880%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253BMMcat104794380%253Bcat104716980&WTz_l=SBC%3BMMcat104794380%3Bcat104716980%3Bcat104312880 Don't forget to use dielectric grease to fight oxidation of the connections, also use it on the plug prongs.
  14. Here you go....... Resident and Non-Resident Chesapeake Bay & Coastal Sport (annual) License allows an individual to fish in the Chesapeake Bay and its (tidal) tributaries and the state waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the Atlantic coastal bays and tributaries from January 1 through December 31. $15 – Resident Annual $22.50 – Non-resident Annual 7-day Chesapeake Bay & Coastal Sport License allows residents and non-residents to fish in the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries and the state waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the Atlantic coastal bays and tributaries for 7 consecutive fishing days. $6 – Resident 7-Day $12 – Non-resident 7 Day See link for details... http://dnr.maryland.gov/service/fishing_license.asp#CBCSPFL You can get the license on-line at: https://compass.dnr.maryland.gov/DnrCompassPortal/Security/Logon?ReturnUrl=%2fDnrCompassPortal%2fHome%2fDashboard
  15. My lady friend forgot her glasses..... Yesterday my friends daughter again asked why she didn't do something useful with her time. Talking about "doing something useful" seemed to be her favorite topic of conversation. She was "only thinking of my friend" and suggested she come down to the senior center and hang out with us guys. My friend did this and when she got home last night she decided to teach her daughter a lesson about staying out of her business. She told her daughter that she had joined a parachute club. Her daughter said, "Are you nuts? You 're almost 72 years old and you're going to start jumping out of airplanes?" My friend proudly showed her that she even got a membership card. Her daughter said "Good grief, where are your glasses! This is a membership to a Prostitute Club, not a Parachute Club." When she told her daughter she signed up for five jumps a week. Her daughter fainted. Life as a senior citizen is not getting any easier but sometimes it can be fun, we're thinking about taking up the suggestion about starting the club.
  16. If you pull the carbs check the float bowl (if it has one), if you see any slug that would indicate the jets can be dirty. At this point I would replace the fuel filter while your in the engine. Can you inspect the fuel tank to see if you have any slug in the bottom? Search the Forums here for "This is what happens when you don't change your fuel lines" it may be helpful.
  17. What type of engine? How old is it? Do you use E-10 fuel treatment? It does sound like a dirty carb; but it could be a clogged fuel filter restricting fuel flow when demand is high like while running WOT.. If the fuel line is old (made before the E-10 lines came out) the inside of the fuel hose could be disintegrating and that could clog your fuel filter. Also, if you use E-10 fuel and don't refill your tank after each days use, the fuel could absorb water from the air as the tank breaths; this water will cause fuel separation that can mess thing up in the engine. All this is just guess work without more info on your rig. Bottom line, give your fuel system a close inspection.
  18. I don't think anyone else knows who Mark Trail is, or, even look at a news paper any longer; in fact, I can't remember the last time I sat down to read the paper; if I don't get it from the TV or the net, I don't get it. Maybe we need a cable channel, or website, just for the old cartoon comics? Now,, Go fishin'
  19. You need to get out more... LOL Ya, this could go on for months.
  20. IMHO, Get the largest deep cycle you can afford.
  21. OK, you gained 36% in four hours, so far so good, let it charge until the charger cuts off, then allow the battery to sit for four to twelve hours to allow for the surface charge to dissipate (stabilize). and put the charger back on until the charger cuts off again. I take it that the water level is good; check it after charging. As for the battery shelf life at the store, if the store did not charge it on the shelf, depending on the type of battery, it has natural self-discharge or internal electrochemical leakage at a 1% to 15% rate per month that will cause it to become sulfated and fully discharged over time. Higher temperatures accelerate this process. A battery stored at 95° F (35° C) will self discharge twice as fast than one at 75° F (23.9° C). If you can find a battery shop ask them to load test the battery and evaluate it for you, then you'll know how the battery is rather than guessing. Here's a link that has some good info on deep cycle batteries: http://www.marine-electronics.net/techarticle/battery_faq/b_faq.htm#8
  22. I had a 88' Tracker Tournament TX with a 12 volt trolling motor; I mainly fish a tidal river with wide open areas prone to wind and the 12 volt system did just fine. But I also upgraded the wiring to 6 gauge with a circuit breaker at the battery. My concern with a battery up front is with vibration; as I understand it vibration/bouncing can shorten the life of a wet-cell lead acid battery by vibrating the led out of the mesh structure of the plates; it falls to the bottom of the battery between the cells and reaches a point where the build-up can short out the cells. As far as I know this is one of the factors for batteries in the rear where vibration is much less.
  23. WOW, what rattletraps do you use!?
  24. Maybe this will help: http://www.marine-electronics.net/techarticle/battery_faq/b_faq.htm#11
