  1. X2, However, to the best of my knowledge Catch & Release of Snakeheads is only in Va. waters, not in Maryland. Maps show the PRFC boundary markers for the main Potomac if your interested in where the Va. waters end.
  2. I have had the same trolling motor many years and it works great. However the last time out I noticed it's taking more foot pressure to turn the motor direction. Any tips on how to maintain the steering cables?
  3. I would contact Megaware KeelGuard, Inc. at (800) 292-9835 with your questions, they are very supportive folks.
  4. Having gone to his secretary's apartment, Mr. Biggs was astonished to wake up and find it was 3:00 AM. "OMG", he exploded, "my wife is going to kill me!" Quickly calling home, he was struck with a sudden inspiration. When his wife answered, he panted into the phone, "Darling, don't pay the ransom; I've escaped!!"
  5. Have you heard about the brewery employee's widow who wasn't able to collect her husband's insurance after he drowned in a vat. Eyewitnesses swore he got out four times to pee.
  6. WTOP, WASHINGTON, D.C. -- There's a new incentive to go out and catch a nasty-looking fish nicknamed the "Frankenfish" in Maryland. For years, Maryland has documented record-size catches of dozens of different sport fish caught in its waters. Now, the state has started awarding records for catching several invasive species including the Northern Snakehead. And interestingly, the first state record for a snakehead was held for only a few hours. It was a 16.78 pound fish caught June 1 in Pomonkey Creek by Jay Berry of Chesapeake Beach. Not long after, another snakehead was officially weighed in at 16.94 pounds. That one was caught in Mattawoman Creek by Teddy McKenzie of Upper Marlboro. Both fishermen are getting plaques to reward them for their record- setting catches. Read more at: http://wtop.com/46/3668557/New-incentives-to-catch-a-Frankenfish-in-Maryland
  7. "Pour me a cold one" said the teenager walking into the bar. Looking him over, the barmaid said, "Scat, kid, you want to get me in trouble?" "Maybe later," he replied. "Right now all I want is a beer."
  8. An elderly man went to his doctor and said, 'Doc, I think I'm getting senile. Several times lately, I have forgotten to zip up.' 'That's not senility,' replied the doctor. 'Senility is when you forget to zip down.'
  9. I live in a Split-level home. It wasn't always a split-level, but the foundation settled. Now it's the only home in the area where you have to go up stairs to get into the basement.
  10. George Phillips , an elderly man from Walled Lake, Michigan, was going up to bed, when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window. George opened the back door to go turn off the light, but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things. He phoned the police, who asked “is someone in your house?" He said "No," but some people are breaking into my garden shed and stealing from me. Then the police dispatcher said "All patrols are busy, you should lock your doors and an officer will be along when one is available" George said, "Okay." He hung up the phone and counted to 30. Then he phoned the police again. "Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I just shot and killed them both; the dogs are eating them right now," and he hung up. Within five minutes, six Police Cars, a SWAT Team, a Helicopter, two Fire Trucks, a Paramedic and an Ambulance showed up at the Phillips' residence, and caught the burglars red-handed. One of the Policemen said to George, "I thought you said that you'd shot them!" George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!" (True Story) Don't mess with old people
  11. As best I know Ranger has consistently led the Bass Boat industry since Ranger's founding, and has a history of innovation that other builders attempt to emulate. If you can go the extra mile in price, do it in a Ranger and you'll never second guess your decision. I can tell you I never have.
  12. I have a Frogg Toggs warm weather suite. It's OK,,,, It wicks water while seated though. And you have to refresh the water-proofing from time to time. I also have the Cabela's GORE-TEX® Guidewear. This is by far the best rain gear I've ever used, I've never doubted the suites ability to protect me year around. All I've had to do for maintenance is to wipe it down with a damp cloth. Don't cut corners on fowl weather gear, it could save your life.
  13. Back in 2009 I purchased a 2003 Ranger 185VS from the original owner, it was in great shape. But with any boat the years take their toll and I wanted to properly maintain mine. When the time came to replace some parts I was pleased to discover I could easily get what I needed just by calling Ranger Parts Dept. and giving them the boats serial number. The same is true for the trailer. I had to replace the entire left finder - no problem - it arrived ready to hang. Ranger supports their products. Look into how another manufacture supports theirs. I found I had much difficulty getting parts when I owned a Tracked TX17. Regardless, the TX was a good boat for me. As a suggestion, do a test, when you find a boat your thinking about, get the boats SN and call the manufacture's parts dept. Just tell them your looking to buy the boat and would like the price and availability of some part - say... a hatch lock, or a windshield; judge the response of the call start to finish. You don't need to buy anything, just say Thank You. Bottom line, look any boat & trailer over very, very, carefully. But also look beyond the purchase. How are you going to keep the boat, can you really afford to operate and maintain it, etc. Do you know oil for a 2-cycle can run between an est. $30 - $40.00 a gal. Good Luck
  14. An older lady named Ida was somewhat lonely since her cat died and decided she needed another pet to keep her company. So, off to the pet shop she went. She searched and searched. None of the pets seemed to catch her interest, except this ugly frog. As she walked by the jar he was in, she looked and he winked at her. He whispered, 'I'M LONELY, TOO. BUY ME AND TAKE ME HOME. YOU WON'T EVER BE SORRY.' Ida figured what the heck! She hadn't found anything else. So she bought the frog. She placed him in the car, on the front seat beside her. As she was slowly driving down the road, the frog whispered to her 'KISS ME AND YOU WON'T BE SORRY..'! So, Ida figured, WHAT THE HECK, and kissed the frog. IMMEDIATELY the frog turned into an absolutely gorgeous, sexy, young, handsome prince. THE PRINCE THEN RETURNED IDA'S KISS. SUDDENLY IDA FELT HERSELF TRANSFORMING FROM HIS KISS. NOW CAN YOU GUESS WHAT IDA TURNED INTO? COME ON GUESS! * * * * * SHE TURNED INTO the first Holiday Inn SHE COULD FIND!!! She's old...... NOT DEAD!!!!!
  15. You might be a fisherman if... 1) You have a power worm dangling from your rear view mirror because you think it makes a good air freshener. 2) Your wedding party had to tie tin cans to the back of your bass boat. 3) You call your boat "sweetheart" and your wife "skeeter". 4) Your local tackle shop has your credit card number on file. 5) You keep a flippin stick by your favorite chair to change the TV channels. 6) You name your black lab "Mercury" and your cat "Evinrude". 7) Bass Pro Shop has a private line just for you. 8) You have your name painted on a parking space at the launch ramp. 9) You have a photo of your 10 lb. bass on your desk at work instead of your family. 10) You consider viennies and crackers a complete meal.
  16. I agree that it is somewhat ridiculous to try to enforce, but there are many aspects to the subject that are entwined in law enforcement requirements that I don't begin to understand. But one I do understand is there are no current predators for these fish and the DNR wants the anglers to be "the predators" and help reduce their numbers. True, the damage has been done, and can not realistically be undone by man, all we can do is remove as many of the fish as possible - which we have proven we can do, as was done with other species in years past. Another aspect to this is underscored by a comment made by a DNR Officer who said "we could not know if you were returning or stocking the fish" when talking about returning a fish to the water after it was caught, or introducing a new fish into the river; I'm sure there are many things they look for in trying to determine your intensions. Traveling with live invasive fish in a live-well is a big no - no as I'm told. Bottom line is anglers should take the time to understand and stay current with the laws of the waters they fish or they could have an upsetting encounter with an officer. Personally, I don't want to pull a Catfish or Snakehead into my boat just so I won't have to clean up the slime. I'll try to take care of business outside of the gunnel and unhook the fish so they can feed the wildlife.

  18. A priest was walking along the cliffs at Dover when he came upon two locals pulling another man ashore on the end of a rope. That's what I like to see, said the priest, a man helping his fellow man. As he was walking away, one local remarked to the other, well, he sure doesn't know the first thing about shark fishing.
  19. I put this on Facebook, but thought I'd share it here too. What's it say about your life when "The best part of waking up is having Folger's in you cup"? Do TV ad's have jingles any more? I can't think of one from the years 2000 - 2014.
  20. Just don't name each of them, and call out a name in the dark.
  21. Steve was going for his morning walk one day when he walked past Ole's house and saw a sign that said Boat For Sale. This confused Steve because he knew that Ole didn't own a boat, so he finally decided to go in and ask Ole about it. Hey Ole, said Steve, I noticed da sign in your yard dat says 'Boat For Sale,' but ya ain't ever been fisun and don't even have a boat. All ya have is your old John Deere tractor and combine. Ole Calmly replied Yup, and they're boat for sale.
  22. Time for a big a** SUV
  23. X2, this is your best bet for tackle and lures. I met a gentleman who invited me to his lake front home for a weekend of fishing. He had built a large free-standing cabinet, much like a gun safe, out of heavy plywood, 2X4's, and 1X3's; it had heavy hinges and two padlock hasps all with no screws showing. Inside, he had built shelves down one side to hold tubs of small items; the other half of the cabinet was open top to bottom for rods. This cabinet was built impressively heavy; I commented it was like a safe and he replied "that's the idea" He later told me he had lost "everything that could walk", rods, lures, electronics, etc. He had another similar cabinet he said held his yard tools and supplies. In the front corner of his shed he had an dusty old cranking battery hooked up to a car alarm; the key-switch was implanted in the side of the shed next to the door. The shed has AC power for lights and the battery charger. His home also has an alarm system for protection. Hopefully, the above will give you some food for thought.
  24. I have used snaps in the past when trolling open water for Rock and Blues on the Chesapeake, and when I started Bass Fishing. But now that I'm into Bass Fishing, and I now fish a river with lots of weed beds and free floating biomass, I tie direct using the Palomar on all baits. When tying to large hard baits, I hold the tag end of the line while working the excess back to the rod; when I'm happy with the amount of line I'm using for the knot, I wet the loops and complete the knot. Doing so is just an additional knot skill I picked up over time. On the other hand, using a lot of line when retying can be a good thing if your fishing heavy cover or areas that can be abrasive on the line. Even though line is my most valuable tool, I still consider it expendable and I'll freely cut off 3-4-6 feet or more if necessary; I therefore have very few if any breakoff's. However, when I was using snaps on Bass baits I found I was less likely to check my line, and retie my line when needed.
  25. Since he keeps using the name, I think we should give it to him. Irene And yes, Fluffy is way too soft
