  1. Then would we call you "The Long Rhino"
  2. Four married guys go fishing. After an hour, the following conversation took place. First guy: " You have no idea what I had to do to be able to come out fishing this weekend. I had to promise my wife that I will paint every room in the house next weekend." Second guy: " that's nothing, I had to promise my wife that I will build her a new deck for the pool." Third guy: " Man, you both have it easy! I had to promise my wife that I will remodel the kitchen for her." They continue to fish when they realized that the fourth guy has not said a word. So they asked him. You haven't said anything about what you had to do to be able to come fishing this weekend. " What's the deal?" Fourth guy: " I just set my alarm for 5:30 am. When it went off, I shut off my alarm, gave the wife a nudge and said, " Fishing or Sex" and she said, " Wear a Sweater."
  3. I have a little (4') rig that I use to tie the anchor line off of the bow eye. It's a Carabiners for the bow eye, a short 4' section of line with a round SS "O" ring on the other end. I got everything at West Marine. I hook the Carabiner to the bow eye and the anchor line to the ring. This does three things for me; 1. it keeps me bow dead into the wind, rather than taking water over the fore-quarter when tied off to a cleat; 2. when I need to make an adjustment I raise the anchor line till I get to the "O" ring, then re-tie the anchor line on the ring as needed; 3. when pulling in the anchor the rig allows me to pull the anchor on deck. When not in use I secure the ring to the trolling motor mount with a second Carabiner, then I can run to my next spot without unhooking the bow eye. Question: What is a good size anchor for an 18.5 foot glass boat? Also, do those folding anchors work on a glass boat? I'm currently using an 18 lb. river anchor, but it's getting to be too much for my back to pull in.
  4. Ya, I saw that article, don't recall it saying anything about Democrats though, just lawmakers. You can still fish with lead weights as long as they're one once or more, so the trolling people are OK, and punching rigs should be OK too. I think this action is more about marketing than the Loons. The lawmakers failed to heed the reports from scientist. If everyone now needs to re-tool with Tungsten, who benefits? The tackle shops? I would question the motive of some in the conservation group and their relationship with the tungsten tackle market. The States may be the real losers when it comes to the tourist trade. I for one will not be vacationing in any state where I can't use my tackle. So that means two weeks of no hotel rooms, restaurants, miscellaneous expenses, guide services, and the taxes that go with it all. If my state passed such a law and I was forced to re-tool, I would purchase everything from out-of-state suppliers.
  5. you clearle haven't beed through many international airports
  6. In ten years of international travel to 47+ countries, I've circumnavigated the world twice, dodged many storms, even volcano's, and heard grown men and women cry out in fear; but I only saw the space lightening once and never saw anything on the wings; I now feel cheated somehow.
  7. I'm waiting for my next call.
  8. SunX-30+
  9. I saw something on TV about them, but the sound was off and by the time I found the remote the show was on to the next subject, boy was I pisssssed I missed that. I'll look on line as you suggest. What I saw looked like a quick on & off light beam going straight up.
  10. One night I was on a flight from Hong Kong to Chicago somewhere out over the North Pacific Ocean at about 40,000 feet, I was stretching my legs in a galley area and looking out a doorway window at a storm we had just avoided. A thunder storm is a sight to behold from above. While watching the storm I saw a bright metallic blue light shoot straight up from the thunderhead into the black of space; Startled, I told the attendant of what I saw and she chuckled and asked if I saw a UFO. So now I have my nose hard pressed to the window for the longest time, then off in a distant part of the storm I see another streak, but it’s smaller and not as bright. I again turn to tell the attendant, and a second attendant in the galley said “that natural, we see them all the time”; I said what! What are they?? She smiled at me and turned to take refreshments to some passengers. Neither attendant would explain what I saw; they just gave me a silly grin as to say I’ll never tell.
  11. X2, I have a three bank Dual Pro that came with my 2003 Ranger and never had a problem with it. Dual Pro have been around for a long time and I think I read somewhere they were the first on-board charger. Quote: "has been and continues to be the choice of over 50 boat manufacturers and professional fishermen on the B.A.S.S. and FLW tournament circuit" End Quote. http://www.dualpro.com/media/pdf/PS3b%20insert.pdf Check with Tracker or MinnKota on what wire gage to use, I believe 6 gage is standard. A good circuit breaker mounted close to the batteries is a must have item, along with good, tight, ring connectors on the wires. Most anglers don't have the correct tool for putting ring connectors on large wires; you need a good multi-point crimp on the connector or you'll have problems down the road. Here's a tip: lay out your wires in your boat allowing a little extra for future adjustments, and cut the wire to length. Then take the wire to a local electrical parts supplier and ask them for the correct ring terminals that fit the different connections, i.e. batteries & circuit breaker, and ask them to crimp them on for you, they will usually do the crimps for free if you purchased the wire from them too. I've done this several times at two different local suppliers while helping friends upgrade their wiring. If they do charge you for the time to do the crimps it shouldn't be much and it will be well worth it. IMHO
  12. Man, you must of gotten them all because none are showing up on a search now.
  13. Thanks for that info, I will now only renew on-line at the B.A.S.S. web site. When I tell people to hold on - I set the phone down and go do something else for a while.
  14. I've been using Weber for many, many, years. I started with their charcoal kettle type grill way back when and went to their low cost gas model as an intro to gas cooking. I got my second Weber gas Skyline model in 1998 when we moved here and it's still going strong, we use it all year long rain or shine. I've replaced the burners and grates as needed; it's easy to do and you can get Weber parts at any Lows or other hardware stores. I've been looking at a Weber all Stainless-steel model at Lows lately, I like the styling and the burner layout.
  15. I got this same call last evening. The caller claimed to be from Bass, but never said the full name Bass Anglers Sportsman Society. This guy spoke with a phony country Billy-Bob accent so thick it made my wife and I laugh out loud (I had the call on speaker-phone). He made one mistake in his sales pitch that told me he wasn't from B.A.S.S. and as I'm paid up until Feb of next year I declined his offer. If B.A.S.S. is allowing this as a marketing plan to increase subscribership they have reached a new low.
  16. As Mark said, it takes time, the items come from different locations and each have their own schedule. I did not get the bag one renewal.
  17. Very good, keep up the excellent work.
  18. I came across this some time ago on a BPS Q&A page when I was given a BPS Pro Qualifier. I have not verified any of the information and therefore take it with a grain of salt; but I found it interesting enough to save. what company manufactures this reel asked 2 years, 7 months ago by workinslob on Bass Pro Shops® Pro Qualifier® Baitcast Reels 8 answers Answers answer 1 The reels are made by pure fishing. Same company that makes Abu Garcia® All Star Rods® Berkley® Fenwick® Hodgman® Johnson® JRC® Mitchell® PENN® Pflueger® Sebile® Shakespeare® Spiderwire® Stren® answered 9 months ago by SlapShot268 - Illinios answer 2 Bass Pro reels are made by a Company named OEM Manufacturing that outsources its production to many different companies . In the cases of contracted fishing reels for other companies they are now being made in either China or Korea . OEM manufactures anywhere from 30-75% of the worlds reels in a given year . The similarities to other reel companies are the reason for the incorrect answers to this question . When OEM is in manufacturing mode of particular reels the many different companies using OEM will have their reels run afterwords with similarities to save money by not making OEM to retool all of their machinery to produce them . Bass Pro uses this money saving tactic better than all the other reel companies out there . They then pass some of the savings off to us. That’s why Bass Pro can sell very similar looking reels to others with as good or better insides to others for lower prices . OEM manufactures reels for Shakespear ( who owns Pflueger and gets some royalties for Bass Pro exclusive Pflueger reels ) , Bass Pro , some of Cabelas , Browning ( who is being sold thru Bass Pro for royalties) , Pinnacle , Southbend , and who knows how many others and how many parts they make for other manufactures who do most of their own production . The thing about these similar reels they are all done by the specs of the different reel companies . Those specs are better in some than in others . Bass Pro gets high end bearings and manufacturing tolerances for even less than others do for a lesser model because of their volume is so much higher than others . Again they do pass some these savings on to us . And for my money I can't help myself from grabbing up some that savings from time to time . Hope that helps you out in some way . Good luck and tight lines .
  19. I received this from a friend in the IC, I thought you may find the state of the art in cameras amazing. Couple this with face recognition software and you can find a your POI quickly. This picture was taken with a camera 70,000 x 30,000 pixels (2100 MegaPixels). It can identify a face in a multitude. The cameras are not sold to the public and are being installed in strategic locations. Place the cursor in the multitude of people and left double click a couple times. It will continue to show the people much closer, or you can us the slider bar on the left. This is truly Amazing!! There were thousands of persons and yet one can spot and recognize any face. Imagine what this means... http://www.gigapixel.com/image/gigapan-canucks-g7.html
  20. I've done this too. More than once. One day while fishing I changed spools to match the conditions. After a few casts I realized my line was bunching up on one side of the spool. When I check it out I found I had missed the line guide. carp! So I had to stop and re-string my rod.
  21. I've used utility brushes for many years, they're best applying pasts or cream style materials such a flux or strippers. As you noted they have a tendency to loose hairs, and therefore are not generally used on finish work. IMHO, Crestliner hit the nail on the head for a good, yet inexpensive, U-40 applicator that should not leave unwanted trash behind.
  22. X2, This is very important, you need a foot bed that fits the socks you are wearing, i.e. in winter when your wearing a thicker sock you need a thinner foot bed, conversely in summer when your wearing a thin sock you need a thicker foot bed. When hiking I always wear a thick sock for the padding and the wicking action.
  23. I just did a new rod with U-40 and used a woodworking technique where I rubbed it on using a soft cotton cloth pad. (think old T-shirt) I had better control on how much was applied and did not have any runs. BTW, I want to thank everyone on the tip about the Magic eraser, I leaned something new; and my wife is going nuts with them.
  24. X2, This is good advice and something you should do. Like I said above, contact the authority be email, I believe they will insure they give you the correct answer just because it will be in writing. Let us know how you make out so we can learn as well.
