  1. Sufix Elite Mono 12lb test
  2. Probably depends on the angler but...braid sucks for topwater. If you react too quickly combined with braids no stretch. Buzzbaits too. If your the excitable type and react too fast...like me. Braid sucks for your teeth too. Cant cut braid with your teeth. Sucks for your wallet too, makes you need more tools to cut it.
  3. Good idea. I love Sufix line and its the only braid I'll us. I hope it hasnt changed since they got bought out by Rapala. The last box of Seige I got had rough spots through out the spool. Bass Pro took care of it, I couldnt get anywhere with Sufix via email. Now not being happy with the 832.... I might try Samurai next.
  4. Ive been looking for that rod too, for skipping under docks for snook. Pairing it with a CI4 4000. I think I found it in a Temple Fork Outfitters MH. They come 6'6" and 6'. Construction looks ok, basic but it has TFO's warranty which has been very good to me fly gear wise.
  5. Well it holds its color better, so I hope its stiffness is also part of that equation. As it ages and gets limper perhaps it'll cast better. I read that it would sink but see no indication that it does any more than any other braid.
  6. I feel your pain! I cant get parts for the D series Curados I love so much, anymore. So I bought a few mechnically sound reels that were cosmetically just not 100% for cheap on the board. Now I have my own stockpile of parts to get me through.
  7. 832 is certainly quieter and it seems to retan its color a little longer than other braids too. Ive used it for a month. As far as casting distance its been the poorest braid Ive used. Using the same outfit the distance is almost half that of performance braid.
  8. It aint a must for topwater fishing. Not even a must for frog fishing. I throw frogs successfully with 25lb mono on a Curado 300. Its personal preference. I use it on spinning gear but for nothing else. Too many disadvantages for me, not for most. But do and use what you want.
  9. I have both and as much as I want to like the Cumara, I like the Crucial's better. Theyve come out with the reaction series now, but the standard Cumara is very technique specific if you ask me. Geared towards soft plastic and other single hook baits. Ive also found them to not balance with lighter reels. Ive found the Crucial to be more capable to handle a variety better. Ive been very lucky, but alot of Cumaras have been returned at my local shop for the over the counter replacement with breakage just a little higher than center.
  10. Just like the CI4 slotted cap and all. Not replaceable and you have to buy the whole handle for a 25cent peice of foam. You can take it apart but they wont sell you a replacement. Id take the squared grip over the slim round one though.
  11. His face is still listed as on their prostaff on the inside cover of the spring angler catalog that was just put on the shelf at BAM.
  12. Yeah but the clearance price on the internet store was $79.
  13. Go with your first idea. The SX is a fine reel. I like it much better than the Curado. The Caenan is an interesting idea, the Graphite frame wouldnt bother me near as much as those stupid foam grips. Take it from somebody who got one of the first CI4's, they dont last.
  14. Georgia Jeff I love it! What a perfect reply!
  15. It would be pretty rare indeed to catch a Peacock on a texas rigged worm or a plastic grub. They notoriously wont hit soft plastic.
  16. Not always cheaper......I remember Team Daiwa Clunn rods and he used top of the line Daiwa reels.
  17. Considering BPS reels are basically Revo's and W&M is made by the conglomerate that makes Tica, I'd say its a downgrade for sure.
  18. I hate that they arent making that many reels in Japan anymore. I hate that rodmakers and anglers have forgotten about shorter rods and only concentrate on 7' plus rods. I hate that people discount Abu round reels as a viable model to use. I hate that all rods seem tip heavy now. I hate people who slam others who dont idolize the brand they worship.
  19. Then preppin' and eatin' em on the boat, how cool is that! Love catfishing
  20. Snook have been on fire up here. ICW is too cold we gotta go up up river. Is that a Soron or a Tierra? Looks sharp on that rod, is it a 20 or a 40? I just got a 4000 CI4 to see if it handles my local creek monsters better than the 2500 CI4 did.
  21. Wow. That he would cut you a check for the difference from the earlier transaction! I was there just two days ago and picked up a ton of Rapala crankbaits. I would have went nuts on rods if I'd of noticed that.
  22. Old surf fishermans trick, cover the foot with clear shipping tape. They did it to protect chromed reel feet on ambassadeur frames. The aluminum screw rings on the new abu rods are good for scratching reel feet.
  23. If you watch the big fish pics published in Bassmaster magazine every month, there are quite a few 10+ bass caught on senkos. Zoom trick worms too. Its amazing how on this board it is now vogue to blast the senko when just a couple of years ago everyone said it was gold. I wonder when Shimano will loose its gold status?
  24. No No No. Not pro Shimano...pro Curado!
