  1. I found Zoom motor oil trick worms at Dicks Sporting Goods last month, you might try there.
  2. Is that the canal just before the toll booth? Markam Park? I pass by that everytime we go home from the Port of Miami and think to myself it would be worth the trip from the west coast.
  3. It takes alot of ships from China to stock a walmart!
  4. Carried into our area by the bilges of international shipping I'd say. Gonna make great tarpon bait. Bet they'll bite you.
  5. With braid you gotta use a leader or the lure will often hook the limp braid when you work it. More knots, more chance for error. Mono's stretch will help fight your natural instinct to set the hook before the fish has really got a topwater anyway. Mono all the way.
  6. The 50 has very little capacity for saltwater appropriate line. Ive had 2. They were alot of fun but I never used bigger than 8# mono on them. Fun for schooling seatrout. With braid you could do flats fishing but Id stay away from structure since it doesnt have much of a drag compared to bigger reels.
  7. Part of the Deal yes but theres no shame in feeling bad about it. As a matter of fact you and everybody else should when it happens to them. I care more about the fish I catch than for people minus my wife and daughter. Those fish dont belong to you. They belong to God, he allows you to enjoy his creations and fully expects you to respect them, be they fish dog or sunset. There now that I've taken to this politically incorrect level, get ready for the good night irene post
  8. True about the foam. Mine has gotten burnished from just laying across the benches of the jonboat. Sort of a shined spot that got flatter. My buddy uses one in spinning model. He has a hard time keeping the reelseats nut tight and once his reel fell off the rod. He religiously checks and tightens it between every few casts.
  9. I have a 6'6" casting rod. Love the light feel in med hvy. But the decals rub off with my fingernail. Its the only split grip rod ive found comfortable.
  10. I use a 6wt and streamers for bass often, dont give up the fly tackle so easy. Sinking floro furled leader and go. A 4 or 5 wt would work too all the hype saying you need an 8 or bigger is crap.
  11. Fishing on a beach one day with a buddy, he says hey a cop car is pulling up behind us. I didnt think anything of it since I was a cop. I looked back and saw that it was one of my agency and we were miles out of our jurisdiction. A deputy stepped out looking square in my eyes and I got a sinking feeling. He walked down to me and told me my Dad had a stroke and was in a hospital 50 miles away and not expected to make it. He survived but was a vegetable
  12. My Abu 4500C. It will never die, only gets smoother and theres no infinite anti reverse to give out.
  13. My FJ is smoother than my CI4's. On my CI4 2000 I use 10# braid and it has caught snook and reds of over 20#'s without a hitch. I wouldnt use 8 or 10# floro or mono on any smaller than my 4000 size though due to spool diameter.
  14. Thorne Bros in your area is probably right on for what is best in your area. They are there, we are who knows...everywhere. You'll be thrilled just having a custom rod believe me. Its too long for my liking but I fish nothing like you do. Have some confidence in what the local guys suggested especially from a place like Thorne Bros. who are renowned. As far as it being glass I much prefer it to graphite for cranks and have had no problem with the vegetation here and my waters are more plant that open.
  15. Oddly enough, in Europe more spinning reels are rear drag than front. Especially for carp fishing and they really scream a drag. Makes me wonder if that market gets better technology similiar to what Japan gets before we do.
  16. I think humidity plays alot into fishing here in Fl. but not on the fishes end, on ours. It kicks your butt. Saps all your energy. Fl. strain bass are according to academics, more finicky to boot. So as since we havent really had our version of a winter this year Ive stuck to summer tactics with finesse baits. Finesse worms, small Rapalas. Its done ok but with the drought water levels have fallen several feet and the water I fish are a max of 6ft even when waters up. They have been laying offshore with the absence of shoreline cover. I avoid frog baits. In my area golf courses and "Round-Up" have made frogs extinct. Bass here wouldnt recognize one!
  17. Anything made by Strike King
  18. R.I.P. very nice man in person. Great Show. I will miss him.
  19. Even if you discount all the counterfeit PP that came in from china a few years back, theirs still too many experienced people who have had mid line breaks with PP. With so many lines with fresh technology costly just a couple dollars more, why use it.
  20. 2005 White Chev Colorado fleet truck. Looks just like the local and state government utlities trucks. Blends in perfectly on the side of the road and other odd places where Ive found some decent fish in urban settings.
  21. Wow excellent catch. My most favorite fish to catch or eat. Very impressive.
  22. I dont think the sealed drag is offered on the Saros, its not listed as a feature on Shimanos site. Wasnt the binding from water intrusion coming from the rotors gap where it meets the anti reverse? Thats the whole idea of Daiwa/NASA's concept of the mag oil seal. To prevent that binding. All spinning reels get it except the Van Staal and ZeeBee that are sealed under the rotor.
  23. I use a 5'6" pistol grip almost every day. More and more I find long rods useless. Outdoorsman, have you fought a bigger fish on that Emmrod? That is one unique idea .....
