Its refreshingly comfortable to use a 5'6" pistol grip rod for walking spooks. You just wont look fashionable or get alot of attaboy posts for selecting one.
Super Spook Jr. in Flitter Sah, it has large thick chunks of glitter and a clearish bottom, olive back. ALso if you fish any tannic stained water the gold side, black back, orange belly kills them, gold in tannic water always.
Sebile lures. Cant handle any fish with teeth or a sandpaper mouth. Koppers Live Target lure too, pretty until one fish then just sort of whitish silver.
I fish out of yak, jon boat and shore too. I find a 7ft rod too long for shore fishing. Maybe if you only fish a open bank but not for in amongst trees brush or about bridges and such. If you fish crankbaits and topwaters, a med hvy might be to stiff for your liking so think hard about your decision.
We've been planning to retire to west Tn. for many years. Now it seems like everyone here is fleeing to Tn. In Tennesse they call us halfbacks. I pray they stay friendly as they are, because when we in Fl. became flooded with rude northerners it did nothing to keep us hospitable. I hope it doesnt fill Tn. up with empty strip malls and polluting golf courses either.
God bless you and your kids for what youve been through, my 23 year old daughter contracted a rare lymphoma this year and I understand your desire to be close to them.
I doubt the cost of the few extra inches of cork out weighs the cost of the 2 extra winding checks, the epoxy finish to cover the now exposed blank and any thread used. Its just fashion like having a 11bb, 8:1to1 ratio, 24lb drag reel to walk the dog and catch a 3lb fish.
The worst thing about a split grip casting rod is different makers give you differing length rear grip. I love St Croix but they dont put enough grip there for me to comfortably cast. Shimano has also shortened the eva on the new Crucial, just not enough for me to comfortably cast.
What a great looking pier! I wish our local govt.s put that kind of effort into facilities over here. Great fish Snook! Have any big Jack been showing up? They havent come into Charlotte Harbor in years.
Here in Fl. that rumor has floated around for decades but about Roland Martin. Here in SW Fl. every tackleshop you go into will tell you about it. I see you go to FGCU, right here in the mist of it. We've both probably heard these rumors from the same negative naysayers. Theres tons of cheating going on in tournaments in this state, salt and fresh. The press is full of it lately, folks are even starting to get jail time. But to say it specifically about a said person on the web especially this volatile forum... you could be a bigger troll than I am.
On my third paractice cast on water after only casting on the local schools lawn, I caught a 36" Snook. Oh Lord it was like hand to hand combat after only fishing conventionally. It was a cruel joke though because I went well over a year afterwards without catching a fish on a fly.
Everything you guys say about him is very true. But I have to ask, in this etherial world of the www how do you know it really is him? On a mountain bike forum which is the cycling worlds eqivalent of this site, a guy went for years having the forum believe he was Natalie Portman. I always loved seeing him fish with Barkley. God bless him and his family after what he went through.
Has anyone heard how the weird grip material is holding up to hooks and bumping around in the boat? Every time I toy with one at the store the grip causes me not to buy it. It looks like it would cut easy or dent to shape if it was laid against another object.
OP didnt you just very recently start a thread that your end all of all rods was the shimano Sellus and that rods costing more were needless for you and your style of fishing?
Certain colors of Bandit Crankbaits. As soon as I catch fish on a color, they discontinue it.
Zoom Speed Doctor worms with the split buzzing paddletail.
Mr. Twister Foxee Jig.
