  1. Yeah... I'd leave the oyster off the menu... if you're putting it IN the recipe. Now... if it's on the side in the half shell with a bit of hotsauce... mmmmmmmmmmmm..... oysters....... OK... OK.... my family hails from Tidewater so oysters were in everything as well. I do love oyster stew and oyster stuffing..
  2. OK... guess this goes here. It has something to do with fish... just not fishing... well... indirectly. Somebody had to catch it. Just sat down to a bit of Catfish & Shrimp Court Bouillon. Yeah... I cook. One of my favorites. My fav... Shrimp (or crawfish) Étouffée. Anybody... especially you Cajuns... got a good recipe for the Étouffée? Oh... need a good roux recipe as well.
  3. The Wife has volunteered to be the photographer. She stated she wants to come and hang out at the campsite with my Daughter and her friend. She also volunteers to cook snakeheads or whatever. Might even bring some venison to fry. She stated she can fry whatever you want. We plan on being there on Friday but may come up on Thursday. Got some camping gear together so it'll be a blast. Nitro... can you call me at your convienience?
  4. I just pick up, against my better judgement, a Berkley Lightning Shock 7' Medium Light for dropshot. This is a truly nice rod that I would stackup against any of my Abu's.
  5. Yeah, I plan on that. It was not until I joined BR that I though about doing that. It's the EXACT color that I am not sure of.
  6. Back in the 80's, Cotton Cordell Made a redfin that was bright orange/red. I mean BRIGHT. I smoked more stripers and LM on that bait. Not sure why but it just worked. I called CC and asked them about it. They said "Yeah, we sold a bunch of those. But, we just discontinue some colors from time to time." Huh? A bunch? So how much sense does it make to discontinue a big selling product? Would love to get my hands on another one of those.
  7. To be honest, I came buy at one time but there was a small cround around and... well... business is business. I ment to come back but one of the guys I was with became like a Snickers commercial and started to whine about being hungry. I got mad enough and just bailed out of there and forgot to come back buy.
  8. I was there at GMCO. Nobody showed so I went and listened to Ish. Guess nobody came?
  9. Whelp... I will be there in the morning. I am the 6'3" ugly dude with a tan hat with a blue bill and a fish on it... a charcoal grey Stratos hoodie. Probably sunglasses. There will be three other guys with me... one is like 6'5" so you won't be able to miss us. Yell "Zoff" and I will know.
  10. I don't care who cooks. Ya'll errr makin' me hungry.
  11. Either way... I will be glad to fry them up. I'll bring the battering material if you guys will bring the cookers. Nitro... Angela taught me how to fry fish so we are good on that. You know SHE can cook!!!
  12. If somebody brings a fryer... I will fry up some of the snakeheads that evening....
  13. Lol... that's a given. The paperwork I signed at the CVU (Center for the Visually Unpleasant) requires it for me.
  14. Thanks, Sam. I will. Battling a stomach bug right now that started a few hours ago That is the only thing that will stop me.
  15. Yeah they have grown. Rod tip straight? As in toward the fish?
  16. Here's a bad pic of the tank.. (3 of the 4 bass and the bluegill... actually you can see the tail of the 4th on the left.) I am letting the fish have time to "walk" about 5 or 10 feet with it. My setup... until Saturday... is a 6'6" Berkley in Medium Fast and a Mitchell Avocet with 10lb line. Saturday it will be upgraded to a 7'6' in Medium Light or so. No Kiddin'!!! lol
  17. lol... Wish i could catch it again but is getting shy. Harder and harder to hook. Have to be stealthy and sly... throw stuff its never seen before. lol
  18. Either way... I will be there. Thank the Good Lord for 4x4! LOL
  19. So... if you are not going to keep it, you MUST kill it and then you can throw it back?
  20. Consider it done!
  21. For the record... I know the weight of the one in my pond as I have caught it before. The other was an estimate but was quite large.
  22. The 12 pounder was in my pond and the 7 was in a private pond at Master's Inn... a Christian retreat near me. The Master's Inn is not fished heavily except for bluegill by the kids.
  23. Aswesome! 10-4. Thanks guys!
  24. Guys... need some... I guess... alternatives... to the drop shot hook. I have been using Gamakatsu splitshot/dropshot hooks. I have been getting really great bites. Awesome bites... violent even. Problem... can't get a solid hookup. In the past two days I have lost as many hawgs. I get the little 2 and 3 pounders all the time. Yesterday... about a 12 pounder. This bugger was a serious pig. Hard strike... bent rod.... set the hook... fight and off. Today... about a 7 pounder with the same scenario. They throw it like it never dug in. I have been having this happen all last summer as well. Tried the lift, soft set and tried the hard set. Same problem. I got a 5 pounder in today and, when unhooking him, I noticed the hook was very hard to remove but was barely sunk. Not even to the barb. Hooks are new and sharp. It was like it was clipped onto the upper jawbone. Like the hook was too small but I was using 1/0 which is usually enough. Is there a better hook? Alternative hook?
