  1. I see that you like two of my favorite lakes as well. I have not been to WP in a while, but hope to get there in the spring. One thing you can try is to get some Plaster of Paris a small plastic or tin tray and the creature bait that you would like to copy. You can either do a one piece or two piece mold so for your purposes I will give you what I did for the one piece. Pour some POP into the tray about 1-2 inches deep then sink the creature bait in until the majority of the body is in the mold. Let that sit until the mold hardens and then remove the prototype bait. From there all you need to do is heat up some old worms until the plastic melts and then pour into the mold. The plastic will harden in a few minutes and you should have your very own creature bait. This is exactly what I did starting out and it worked pretty well. This is the bare bone way of doing it. I am interested to see what some other guys have to say. I love to learn new tricks. Hope this helps.
  2. Nice! That is talent!
  3. Ditto on the JJ's. I love Motor Oil colored worms. They have been a "go to" for years, that and Gourd Green. However, it will most likely have to do with the water you are fishing.
  4. I have used both and could not tell a big difference. For that price I would definitely go with the Calhouns. The HS is a must. The first couple of times I made plastics I did not use it and it was aweful. My wife put me on lure making probation for a month after burning that stuff. Good luck and have fun.
  5. I want to start by saying how impressed I am with your website. You have really done a nice job with the design, functionality and integration of social media. Well done! My name is Jay and I from Suwanee, Georgia. I am very passionate about fishing and the outdoors. I am very excited to be a part of this group. I look forward to learning from all of the members and sharing my knowledge along the way. Thank you for this wonderful resource.
  6. I believe this is the key. Well this and determination. Before jumping in full speed ahead make sure that it truly is something that you are passionate about. The luremaking starter kit is a good first step. Next you should go around and speak to some of the tackle shops to get an idea of what it might take to get some custom baits in their store. It may also be a good idea to purchase a book on tackle making. Like with any business start-up you want to set some goals and then layout a plan to achieve them. Just my .02
