  1. Has anyone fished Lake Amador (about 50 mi SE of Sacramento) this winter? I did yesterday and caught 2 fish for 5 lbs which is not horrible for a half day in the middle of winter. But I ran into a couple guys who bagged 15lbs on an Alabama rig! His partner got skunked but the guy using the Alabama said he got 20 fish (mostly small) with 7 & 5lb kickers. I have not used this lure(s) and would like to know a) does it really work and how do you fish it? He said he casted it, I thought you would troll it. 5 hooks are illegal in California so he had cut two hooks but still...Water temp was 53.6, slightly stained, overcast day at 60 degrees. How would you fish this thing?!
  2. I have not had much luck from my kayak on Pardee except trolling for trout. The best smallmouth/largemouth spots are quite a long ways from the marina. Plus the water is so clear you can't sneak up on them like in a farm pond. I just use the bass boat now.
  3. Does anyone live around and/or fish Pardee Reservoir? The California state smallmouth record comes from there and I have been trying to top that 9.13 beauty (caught in 2007) with no luck. Any tips, help or advice would be great. Best time of the year for the big ones is Feb/March I think and I will be getting my season pass tomorrow.
  4. Hey Stan, good to see you on this forum! I have been out with Chris 3 times now on beautiful Lake Wilson and the peacock have cooperated each time. Can't wait to get back and do it again. Let me know when you or Chris are coming out to the California Delta area and I will be happy to take you out for bass or striper, whichever is in at the time. wendell
