I just received a new chronarch and I have a question. When the drag is lose my Spool does not spin at all i have to Turn the drag star about 4 full turns to get it to engage. is this normal? I'm pretty new to bait casters and my llews and Abu Garcia don't do this even with the drag all the way down the spool still spins. Just want to know if I should return this or have to adjust the settings a certain way. Thanks in advance.

I think I'm gonna go for the 6'10 medium ***. I was going to throw throw a chronarch on it but I think I'm going to get a lews tp instead can get one for 150 so saving on the rod and reel will give me some xtra money to spend else where. Thanks.

I'm looking at getting a new medium fast rod and I'm looking at the *** *** black or a Phenix recon. I fished a medium heavy recon gen 1 and its a really nice rod but I'm wondering if I could save some money buy buying the ***. I read multiple reviews that say the *** fishes like a more expensive rod. Anyone fish both and prefer one over the other? I can't get my hands on a *** so just looking for some opinions if *** even comes close to the recon.

One of my guides broke on my veritas last Monday. Called them at 4 that afternoon and by 12pm the next day had a new rod on its way to my door. No papers to fill out or anything. Had to email them a pic of the guide a pic of my receipt and a pick of my rod cut in half. Paid 9.95 with my credit card over the phone and I was done. Took 3 days to receive it, and they even gave me a free fenwick eagle gt ultralight rod packed with the veritas. I was looking to buy a ultra light and now I don't have to. I usually just lurk on this site but just want to say how great of an experience I had with customer service.

I'm in Essex county NJ, It was 30 degrees when I left for work this morning at 4am and its going to get up to 45 later today. Tomorrow it's supposed to get up to 60 then thursday 70 then back down to 40. Can't wait for it to just even out already.

Hey thanks for the replies, I have pretty much read every article on the site I just need to get out there and try some of it. I'm really looking forward to fishing jigs so I think I will be using them most of the time so I can at least become proficient in one lure then I'll move on to the next.

I have been lurking around the forums and this site for about 3 months now and I guess its about time I start a post. Im new to bass fishing, actually went fishing for bass exclusively for the first time in November with a ex-coworker. I have done some saltwater fishing and trout fishing when I was a kid but haven't really fished in about 15 years. Well ever since that trip in November I can't stop thinking about fishing for bass. I live in New Jersey and we usually have a hard winter but it hasn't been bad I have been spending my time trying to read as much as I can and get ready for the spring. I will be shore fishing this year with hopes of getting a boat next year. Im trying to get my tackle bag ready and Im just wondering if you could take a look at what I have now and suggest any other necessities that I should have. Some of these things I was given by my ex-coworker before he moved and some I purchased myself. There is just so much stuff out there and with 2 kids and a wife I could see this obsession going wrong.
