  1. Ive found each one of the dual braking models I own have had their own sweet spot. For those of you that own the Johnny Morris C.L., you can put a piece of tape over where the tabs come out...IE you can run odd numbers. On my shimanos I leave one break on and forget it 99% of the time, just use my thumb a little more if necessary.
  2. Smallie beavers, Berkley beast ( I bought 30 packs when they were discontinued) and the power bait shakey worm
  3. I love variety and own Shimano, ABU, Daiwa, and a couple BPS reels. My personal favorite reel is a tuned up curado E. It hasnt been trouble free; (one of the drag discs inexplicably started breaking down) but I love the way it casts.
  4. A great option. These rods are much greater than the ones you mentioned.
  5. Search your local tackleshops. A lot of them markdown rods this time of year ramping up for spring. You may get a $100 rod for the price you mentioned. I've got a bunch of rods that way.
  6. Yeap. It's about 200 yards east of Fridays.
  7. Just west of powhite on midlothian turnpike. If your going west on midlothian, it will be on the eastbound side of the road, near tgi Fridays.
  8. It's subjective of course, but in my mind a fenwick MH rating is about spot on. I've owned 4 fenwicks, nice tough sticks that fish well. I have an older 6'6" MH HMG that's like a sword in my hand. I can put a 3/8 -5/8 bait anywhere I wish. I've got nicer, lighter rods, but that old HMG is just suits me.
  9. I'm noticing (at least on public waters around here) that spinnerbaits just dont seem to get the strikes they used to. I remember hearing Hank Parker mention the same thing. I've caught some big fish on spinnerbaits; (got a DD 4 years ago in a pond) and love throwing them, but the squarebills/bladed jigs/rattlebaits have definitely taken a chunk out of their use for me. I still like to throw them if there's a chop on the water. Before someone calls me out I'm not saying spinnerbaits are dead, I know some still do well on them; just stating what I'm observing locally.
  10. It's probably time for a flush and relube of your spool bearings. The carbonlites should have lighter spools so startup inertia will be less than the PQ's. especially the Johnny Morris. So casting may require a little less effort Either send it to a pro or do your homework on a bearing flush/relube, try it and see what your results are. it's really simple and rewarding to work on your own reels and make them perform better.
  11. It's the way to go for an ultralight IMO. The braid gives you just a bit more security than a ultra thin mono, you can lean into 10 or 8lb braid pretty hard if need be. Braid gets a bad rap for abrasion resistance, and around sharper rocks and certain types of plants yeah it cuts pretty quick. But around wood, lily pad stems, docks etc ill take braid vs its equivalent diameter mono EVERYTIME.
  12. Flacco had perfect timing, and the ravens made the right move for them given their options. The cap will go up again in 2 years, and this deal wont hurt so much. No, he's not better than about half a dozen QBs in the league. But Baltimore CAN win with him, and won't have to worry about a QB for a long time. Ozzie Newsome is the best GM in football, they'll fill their holes and be fine.
  13. Thanks man. I'd looked and seen bps didn't offer the RTO in the .05 size after the rc went away. Good to know the LC is available. I do own and use the Kvd 1.0 and your right it's pretty close. I'll take your word on the smaller big daddy strike, order placed!
  14. Assuming your referring to the .05 i mentioned that's a different bait...it's 1 1/4" longer and is a wakebait. Good to know that academy is selling online now though, I've admired some of their in house baits but live 3 states from one.
  15. I'm in the same boat on the .05's, unfortunately they dropped that size altogether when they went with Tak. Lucky strike makes one, but it weighs 1/8oz, the rc was 1/4 and could easily be cast far with a BC and MH rod. Pretty unique to have a small crank that can be cast that far.
  16. Spinning or casting?
  17. I got one of the frenzys for free a few years back and have never thrown it. Tough to put down the rattling vibes and redeye shads. Can you elaborate on why you like them?
  18. Take a lipless crank and pull the trebles back to where they'll be positioned on the retrieve. Then snip the bottom pointing treble, cut it as flush as possible. You'll be shocked and what the bait will come through, and I haven't seen a huge decrease in hook ups. You can do this with a lot of treble hook baits. I devised it years ago when fishing a algae choked lake where long casts with rattling vibes were the ticket. Another thing I did was putting nail weights in my plastics. Make sure to cover the hook eye/knot and its pretty dang weedless.
  19. I think they can be competive pretty soon. With the chargers fading the division ain't what it used to be. Getting rid of pioli was a move in the right direction
  20. Sounds about right to me. I looked up ben's stats out curiosity. He's been all over the place. He's had a few years over 4000 yards and a couple passer ratings over 100, and he's also stunk up the joint a few years even throwing more pics than td's one year. Guys definitely got the clutch gene when he needs it. I remember that throw in the Super Bowl against the cards in the corner of the end zone. There was about a 6'' window and it had to be on a rope, and it was perfect. He also had that one on one open field tackle in the AFC championship game that year when bettis fumbled, he doesn't make that tackle and no Super Bowl.
  21. A game manager by definition is someone who won't necessarily hurt you, but won't take over a game, often they lack physical qualities to do so. Big Ben and Eli have had years where they've statiscally been MVP worthy, and other years where they've been in the top 5 or so in INTs. Both can drive a ball on a dime 40yards+ down field on a dime, Ben used to be quite an athlete too. Flacco is a 50 yard bomb waiting to happen. A game manager is a dilfer, Bernie Kosar, Ty detmer, type in my eyes. They can win with a good d and a running game.
  22. What I dont get is why guys color the last few feet a solid color? I have taken a sharpie and "striped" the spool to break the line up. I could see a green sharpie to match grass for example, but why draw a straight black line to your lure?
  23. I dont think Smith is that great. Lets not forget he was among the worst QB's in football for nearly 5 years. SF had an all time great line in front of him, a strong running game, and a beast defense. He's a game manager who can move a little, but when you need him to step up and make a big throw he just doesn't have any arm at all. KC does have some talent. (Dwayne Bowe, jamal Charles, tambi Hali, eric berry, brandon flowers, etc.). If Reid can get them better on both sides of the line of scrimmage this team could be legit in a year or so.
  24. My reason for leaders is it saves line...I have several heavy used reels with 3-4 years of use with a single spooling of braid. The non tangling of trebles, less visibility, and abrasion resistance are icing on the cake.
  25. Thanks guys. Seems like the majority of cable/dish customers have negative experiences. Really leaning toward fios, it would be nice to be able to use my tablet anywhere around the house over wifi. It would also be nice if you could cherry pick just a handful of channels that u want via the web and be done with the cable providers.
