  1. RW , are you using straight tatsu for all around jig fishing or are you still using braid/flouro?
  2. The profile does it for me...ever tx rig w/a 1/2oz or 5/8 weight? That's a big glob of metal, larger in diameter than the worm. I feel a pegged, painted tungsten weight just looks more natural.
  3. Awesome, now go lay into some big bronze fish!
  4. Not all monos are created equal. A thicker diameter 10lb line COULD be a headache on a reel that size, maybe not. You could always leave your thinner mono on as a base and add about a cast and a half of 10lb on top to see how it behaves itself. Also as an FYI, Ive found not overfilling a spinning reel with mono/flouro helps with line mgt.
  5. Could be missing something here, do u mean the blade dancer by Berkley?
  6. The braided mainline lasts for years for a lot of us, that mitigates the cost. The smaller diameter gives a significant line capacity boost. Also the thinner braid is gonna cast better than a stronger/thicker mono. While using a leader certainly gives you some stretch, it's IMO better than using regular mono on a long cast-hook set.
  7. They should just wiggle side to side and kind of flutter at the same time on a straight retrieve...I've had a few of those heddon Baits get a little out of tune, the line ties can get turned a little too far too the left or right. Id check that first, maybe tighten it another full crank or superglue if need be.
  8. Can you elaborate on Can you elaborate on why you like the suffix? Ive always been happy with their lines, no experience and very little info out there on the fluro. Thanks
  9. I'm a swim bait novice, but can say the bull shad gets a ton of bites...Just make sure you have adequate line capacity if your near Atlantic run striper.
  10. My personal favorite jig...I bought 25 of them in 3/8 a few years back. It's my favorite jig for casting and retrieving over vegetation. The head is at the right angle and has a vertical line tie, and a durable finish. I usually put a bluegill skirt by secret weapon lures with a rage or paca craw on the back. You may also check out the booyah "A JIG". Similar head design, and has the living rubber like a mop jig, but a vertical line tie as a opposed tithe mops horizontal.
  11. That's a great point, maybe there's more to it than meets the eye, maybe not; it's always been amazing to me what those guys in prison can accomplish with on their available diets. Rest is so key. I'm very blessed to have a job that suits my training/eatin/recovery and have made better gains in 6 months than I have in 2 years of training years ago.
  12. More power to ya man, not gonna lie I've seen the results of just a basic cycle of test and I definitely get why it's appealing to folks. No denying the return you get lol! Personally not for me for a few reasons, but what the next man does is his business. What kind of gains have you seen on gear?
  13. I never said ALL, did I??? Bottom line the supplement industry is full of scams and snake oil, specifically bodybuilding supplements. Is EVERYTHING at vitamin shoppe worthless? Of course not, but alot of it is. Then you have the companies that have actually put steroids in their products, and people have failed drug tests as a result. Its frustrating seeing people mislead by the claims the companies make...flip through a flex mag, you'll see before and after pics of ifbb pros in the offseason and 2 weeks out from a contest. The ad says its the muscletech powder. Science says its the HGH, clenbutural, and insulin....its just a really shady industry that preys on the naive. The human body filters out a great deal of what you orally ingest anyway....And I was using "juice ain't worth the squeeze" as an expession referring to diminishing to little return on an investment, not an actual anabolic substance, thought I can see where it may have sounded that way lol. The FDA actually is actually pretty on point these days. Prior to getting back into it early this year, I trained pretty aggressively for a couple years in my early 20's. back then I used ephedra and Andro, which DID work quite well. They, along with a few other legit things are no longer sold. They test pretty much every style of en vogue supp, and if anything actually dramatically works it gets pulled. Pharmaceutical lobbies probably have a lot to do with it.
  14. I see what you mean AJ. And your demographic could definitely benefit from certain supplements as we age. However I think Fiend is dead on with most supps being a complete waste of money when it comes to the majority of us. I am training with a friend who spends money on everything that comes down the pike..."test boosters", lots of different pre-workouts, N.O. crap, etc. and hasn't made any real visible progress. The FDA makes sure anything that honestly works gets removed from the market. The juice ain't worth the squeeze in terms of long term "keepable gains". There's alot of gimmicks out there that may give you a pump or make you hold water, but at the end of the day it doesn't put anymore true muscle on you. Train hard and break down those muscles, adapt your routine as the body adjusts to various weights and exercises, repair by getting adequate rest, and get all your nutrients through whole foods (Im a big advocate of protein supps for the convenience/cost factor however). You will get gains you actually keep. Alot of studies are showing that incorporating cardio actually can benefit you even when bulking. You can actually increase your bodies amount of blood, helping with nutrient delivery and the oxidation process.
  15. The D shad has the best action of any soft jerkbait Ive seen. It wiggles and falls backwards rigged w/an EWG
  16. I've used it religiously for 7-8 years. Much like .38, I tend to fish faster worked baits like Sammie's on it, but have used it on poppers, propbaits, and dead sticking large walking baits. Bottom line, it will work great. Most wouldn't be able to tell the difference in it and the traditional nylon based lines if handed a reel spooled with it.
  17. Overall the rattling vibe is just a fish catching machine. At 5/8 and a slightly more aerodynamic design than most rattle baits, it seems to cast better. Red eye shad is great, especially when yo-yo'd as it shimmies on the drop. Spots run shallower than others and are a good value. The rapala rippin rap is growing on me.
  18. Durability...I've got braid on a couple reels for going on 4 years. Just add leader as needed. With many knots matching diameters doesn't mean anything in my 5 years of doing it for a variety of species....I have some 15lb power pro that Ill use 12lb hybrid on w/minnows and bobbers and then run 6lb abrazx for finesse plastics.
  19. megabass xj-100....Which is no longer sold in America . Ive looked and they can be had online, but are getting scarcer and more expensive.
  20. Nothing against the rod itself, but those guides make me cringe. My experience has been terrible with several pac bay varieties losing inserts. On another note, I like that reel seat.
  21. Don't sleep on the bps carbonlites either...IMO it's better than all 3.
  22. Curious if you've tried ZMA? I've tried a lot of different things and other than lots of whey and the occasional creatine HCI I'm not big into supps. I got a bottle of cellucor ZMA for free yesterday and so far I'm really impressed. Last night was One of the best nights sleep Ive had in literally years. I actually woke up earlier feeling more refreshed. I've been on a bulk since the 1st of feb and have gained 20lbs, but don't sleep that well at times. With our intense work schedules and heavy training I think zma is a very legit supplement. Don't think the tribulus helps test that much, but it sure makes me horny as a goat, lol.
  23. Veritas without a doubt, much more sensitive and well balanced in my hand. Veritas also has awesome guides for its price. I used my mojo for the first time in a few years yesterday and instantly remembered why I quit using it (7'M). Just a dead, tip heavy rod. Factoring in I had 2 inserts fall out previously and I would never buy one again. Don't know much about the current gen vendetta.
  24. Had a a good evening Saturday, catching 7 bass, with a couple 4-5lbers on it. I like them, something different in topwaters always appealing to me....Heck if they had $2.00 worth of better hardware/paint and were from Japan they could go for $30 lol.
  25. My all time favorite reel. Love how the slightest flick of the wrist gets a bait going. A lot of your lighter reels sacrifice that solid feel that some of your heavier reels do. The d is the best of both worlds in my mitts. Going back even farther, the old SF chronarchs were sick. Kinda heavy, but a joy with rod tip down presentations.
