  1. b/c it makes one rod multi-functional which is exact question/purpose of the post. he wants to use his frog rod (w/ braid)...add a leader and use as t-rig. if you only had 12lb fluoro on the reel you would not be able to go frog fishing.
  2. we don't have those blind bass in my part of the woods
  3. sure you can do it. i use one rod for frog and c-rig. 65lb braid for froging and i tie a 12lb fluoro leader w/ c-rig. i would use straight braid if in heavy cover or stained/muddy water. if in clear water learn a connection knot ur comfortable with ie albright knot is easy with fluoro; blood knot easy w/ mono. like long mike i have braid on all my reels and love it. let us know how u like it
  4. true. what does that make is the definition of this? an uninsured driver killed a girl that was progressive customer. progressive defended the killer in court to avoid paying out on her policy. http://www.nydailyne...ticle-1.1135907 true ie "Absolutely false. Property DOES NOT have to be stolen from your houe/garage in order for homeowners to cover it."
  5. I believe he was using an analogy.

  7. i can tell you right now ur jealousy is not going to be the problem. hell hath no fury like a jealous woman. don't ever accept a friend request from an ex gf of urs unless you want to go thru months of hell till she finally admits what the problem is.
  8. you are in for a treat. when fall hits (and spring for that matter) bomb a spinnerbait /chatterbait/swimjig as far as you can 45 degrees off shore, slow steady reel/vibration with occasional twitch. they will be active/roaming/gorging for winter. stay focused all the way back. its awesome when they follow it 50ft and smash it 3 ft from shore.
  9. you've already done the hard part and located a great holding spot. flip away and experiment. black/brown. green/brown. if there isn't alot of pressure they will eat about anything you toss at them
  10. did you see the pix on the hook removal posts? helps alot http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/12981-how-do-i-remove-a-hook-a-bass-has-swallowed/page__st__15
  11. x2 you have to say it was stolen from ur house property ie not at the lake. I know kids in college who had laptops, electronics, gaming systems etc stolen out of their dorm. their parents said it happened at home/garage/on their property etc and their policy covered them. I don't own a home so i buy renters insurance from my auto company for the same reason. its $65 a year for $10K of coverage and I get a multi policy discount of $65 so its free.
  12. welcome to the site. this post made me laugh out loud. thank you. i imagine you'll get a much better response and plenty of help if you offer more information. fill out ur profile so people know what state you live it? lakes close to ur home? how far are you willing to travel? btw i laughed b/c there was so little info provided that my mind filled in the blanks on its own and transitioned 'walleye' into a lost girl or valentine you've been searching for.
  13. i lost a 3-4lb my self on saturday. and i let him have it for a good 3+seconds. i actually just saw a video where the guy recommends its better to let the fish have the frog for 20seconds and spit it than loosing 20+fish b/c of setting too early. i'm going to roll with that theory for awhile and wait for them to turn their head and dive a few feet before setting. even free spool the reel to let them take some line. especially when there is lots of salad/muck on the top of water. you'll notice frog fishing is MUCH easier in clean water and when the bite is aggressive
  14. did you throw'm back or throw'm on the grill?
  15. nice fish!!!
  16. "the electric chicken". a white/chartreuse swimjig with a 4" pink swimbait w/ yellow belly. i can't tell you how many fish i've caught on it in spring and fall when they didn't want the vibration/flash of a spinnerbait. i figured if trout like neon pink or green why not try it on bass. it worked awesome but i could not duplicate the success with pink senkos
  17. His technique is to reel up slack while the fish is swimming at you. You don't sweep the rod until the fish turns his head/direction. At that point you need much less pressure to set the hook. It works for alot of lures other than heavy jigs. i use the sweep hook sets for lots of techniques and don't have to dodge near as many lures flying 100mph at my face
  18. if he had knowledge or hopes of breaking any records then he should have known the rules. if he didn't have the expectations and just had a $1M slip thru his fingers then I'd like to be the first guy to buy him a beer...or 10. and he should DEFINITELY get the Mustad $100K.
  19. Thanks for the food for thought next time I'm on the water (2moro!)
  20. x2. For me it has more to do with how much time the fish have to examine ur lure ie technique ur using. Finesse requires a thin leader b/c the fish can stare at ur lure for an extended period of time. I have no problem tying straight to braid with top water, fast moving techniques, or jigs in heavy cover even in clear water b/c the bass don't have time to think or see...they need to commit quickly or lose out on a meal.
  21. x2 for seguar invisix. get the 12lb to start. you have to be more careful tying knots so practice. i like fluoro better b/c as stated its stronger, more abrasion resistant, and i love the immediate response for hook sets
  22. gene did a video on it. try using his place mat idea
  23. how long have you been tying with fluoro? it's def more brittle than mono. spend sometime at night tying and retying till you get ur knot and line perfect/smooth. use a jig that is easy to grip and pull till you break it. it will let you know how your doing and build confidence especially if ur line breaks 10" above the knot. you should never have a burn/warped/crinkle line no matter which knot you choose. i also use the san diego jam for fluoro. pull 6" thru the eye first....then pass the 6" tag thru the eye a second time. do not insert 1" and try to drag the remaining doubled over line the remaining 5". keep the double line wrap around the eye nice and tight while ur finishing the knot. i don't like the palomar b/c it creates too much opportunity for heating up the line. good luck
  24. welcome!!!
  25. south jersey! they have some amazing water shed areas. that's were i do 90% of my fishing now. pick up the book "in pursuit of giant bass" by bill murphy $11 on ebay. i'm searching for 5-10lb bass only now. its really about going deep (could be 8ft if in a small pond) and slowing down the presentation (more finesse fishing; chasing lures is more of a small/medium size fish trait). maybe i can show you some of my snj spots. good luck
