  1. now that's not nice. do you go around counting her shoes...candle stick holders..number of soup ladles crammed in the kitchen drawer?
  2. To this point i've been using a cheap fix but need to find any improvement b/c i'm too cheap to pay .70c for a Boss punch hub. (cheap fix= 1/4" of coffee straw burned at both ends with a match. the ends curl down for a make shift hub to slide skirt collar around). my thoughts for improvement might help spark something for ya. 1-an hour-glass shaped plastic bead. 2-an hour-glass shaped metal bead. (hour glass beads seem to be a premium in the 'crafting world' but are still at steal at .05 or .10c). 3-a traditional .01-.02c oval bead. take a Dremel tool and cut a groove around the center to secure skirt collar/wire. 4-find a resin/play-doe like product that hardens when it sets or is baked. form my own hour-glass around a small paper clip/wire. I'd like to find #1 b/c no modifications are needed. And I can probably find it in glass for some nice additional lunch bell 'clicking'. Would probably be extra nice with tungsten banging against it.
  3. you can use XF anywhere. its especially nice when trying to turn a slobs heads up and out of cover. i also associate XF with stout hooks like on jigs/frogs b/c of piercing power. XF is fine as an all around utility action...fine for t-rig a senko in open water. on the bad end of the spectrum, it wouldn't be as suited for cranks, lipless cranks, spooks b/c the fast action has a tendency to rip the treble hooks out of their mouth. thats why crank rods have moderate bend to absorb the energy during fight. basically XF its good for most techniques excluding treble hooks and shines with cover and stout hooks.
  4. Did you sit down with a manager? If so you could call them 2-3 day's after. Sending an email to corporate would be a stretch. Instead call the 800 number and see if the specific store has a special email acct (Staples has individual store emails like that). If so you could send an email to it (addressed to the managers name). good luck!
  5. practice everything mentioned on smaller fish so you are calm cool and relaxed...and have the technique down second nature for when you do hook into the fish of a lifetime. i consider it a success if i land a fish w/o him jumping. and i give myself minus 1 point if he jumps. if they broke the surface, i'm working them too hard. and if cover permits, i don't move my rod right to left b/c the can easily spit the hook with directional changes. i always like my rod to be at 10 o'clock with a nice bend, letting the line, rod and drag do the work.
  6. TW has 7'6" ML or M Dobyns on sale for $175. twice the casting distance with half the effort. much better for sneaking up on fish. and you cast lighter lures when the bite if tuff http://www.***.com/Dobyns_Champion_Spinning_Rods/descpage-DCST.html Powell makes nice rods too. their Endurance ML 7'3" is nice and everything should be 20% off at either Presidents day or Memorial day (i think there is a sale in between.) can't go wrong with a st croix or duckett either. i have a fenwick tech and LOVE it on the water but HATE it everywhere else. the guides are so flimsy they bend like butter...and i am VERY careful with equipment.
  7. i bought a 6'8" ML for those purposes and wish I had bought a 7'2-7'6" from the start. You can achieve such a greater distance with less effort. And can throw 1/16th oz or even lighter if needed. Now i'm going thru the process of selling it and buy a 7'6". Just some food for thought
  8. if ur going to use the rings....i read about a guys preference for oval over circular rings. with oval rings the line/knot will always sit in the ends where the ring has a double wire wrap. the double strands of wire putting less stress ie cut on the line. he noted if using circular to make sure to tie ur line opposite of the single wire/split opening. good advice but the knot seems to always work itself back around to the place of least resistance ie split opening. i like the red eye shad b/c it comes with the oval. i wish i never read the article b/c i've become hyper aware of where the knot sits on circle rings ever since. i didn't change out my rings and I don't think i've ever lost a fish b/c of circle...but if i was going to the trouble to switch them out, or build a stronger system, i would choose oval.
  9. I'm with Tom. any disturbance in a small/stable environment is bad. the only i hate more than ducks scaring my bass are frogs. their like a #($@* 4 alarm fire putting fish on guard. a few ponds i fish have canadian geese and i always approach from the opposite side. they aren't near the same problem in larger bodies of water or when baby ducks/geese are around.
  10. word of wise: only go by yourself or with another angler. anyone else will likely want to cut ur stay short and nobody likes getting pulled out of a candy store
  11. i picked these up b/c they were on sale at a local shop. turned out to be the most comfortable pair of boots i've ever owned so I bought a second pair. they feel like a pair of Nike's on my feet. the first pair are like the ones in the link and say "Green Rubber" on the bottom. Second pair I bought have the orange Timberland logo on the bottom and while they are amazingly comfortable, I like the first pair better. I don't know how the rest of their Earthkeeper like is but its definitely worth a try. I'm going to try the low cuts for hiking next. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Timberland-Earthkeepers-Boots-Size-12-US-/251212741238?pt=US_Men_s_Shoes&hash=item3a7d723a76
  12. Nice! agreed, its always better to call. most times its a person in India quickly processing emails. always pays to get a person on the phone.
  13. x2. or if ur on the water and don't have the proper equipment with you just add patients and less elbow grease. let them have the crank a few extra seconds and do a soft and slow hook sweep. once they turn their head they will be hooked. and finesse reel them in with 40lb braid.. let the rod load when they fight or the hooks can still pop out
  14. its more a coin toss so don't worry. i bought size 12 snowboard boots off ebay. when received they were size 44 from ITALY and were too small (11 1/2 usa). you can look at 5 conversion charts and get 5 different answers. the seller wouldn't refund my money. i opened a case which should have been a no brainer. long story short they sided with the seller. that was the last time i ever used my bank account with paypal. now i always change my 'fund source' to my back up credit card. visa's protection is 1000x's better than any paypal/ebay bull. i would stress the "reshipping" address mentioned. ebay probably deals with people like this alot. i'd agree to a refund if the rod is returned. i've had rod's replaced with no original receipt. call Diawa to confirm.
  15. that is one SHADY address bro. run next time you see something like that! i'm rooting for ya and hope paypal/ebay does the right thing b/c you are clearly the responsible person here. keep in mind you can pull the "if it's broken then return it" card. the guy will likely fold before shipping it back. tell paypal no returned rod, no money. he can't have both. if it is indeed broke you can at least send it back for a new one
  16. nice. did they taste good w/ butter!?
  17. love this guys idea
  18. wow i was curious what the math was: $1,378. thats awesome
  19. i don't know how to buy a boat or a bulldozer so if i was going to buy i would make sure to get one that was less that 5yrs old. chances are its going to be more mechanically sound. ie the 'T4000 model' i want/can afford is 8yrs old. i'd settle for the T3000 model that was 3yrs old
  20. good luck!!!
  21. great advice. i wouldn't mind agreeing on a final price up front. "can we agree on a price now? if it passes inspection and a test drive on the lake will you take $5,xxx? whats ur bottom line?". it lets him know ur serious buyer and he's got to back his words via a mechanic that it's a good boat. the transaction is less stressful and you can negotiate any repairs the mechanic might recommend from that starting point.
  22. now thats some winter bass fishin. nice!!!
  23. if the doctor recommends a lobotomy, go find another doctor. on a serious note, i hope you feel better. don't ONLY do what the doctor says. do more. do the hard stuff that doesn't come in a pill. take good care of yourself. get to bed early and get plenty of sleep each night, eat more healthy foods..and less junk/fried foods/cigarettes/booze/hookers, sleep or eat a cold away instead of taking medicine, find a low stress job (one that is within your mental capabilities vs overwhelming), surround yourself with good people.. and fish more .
  24. lots of vid's but this is one of my favorites. also go to general forum and type in punch. tons of great posts
