  1. I love this boat. This thing rides like a dream. My buddy wants the seats for his STV Euro race boat. I guess he needs a smoother ride, while going 109 mph. I just moved my motor from 2-3/4 to 3" bp and will test it out this weekend. I have a 23p tempest plus and, at that level, I can not turn it beyond 5500 rpm and 60 mph, but the water pressure dropped to 11 lbs at top end, so I am moving it back to 3-1/4 bp. What prop are you running and what is your water pressure? Do your gauges work along with your Smartcraft? Either my speedo is not working or it is not supposed to.
  2. 2011 Ranger Z118 with Mercury 150 Optimax, 8 " jackplate, 23p Tempest plus. If anyone has this setup or can help me out, please reply. I am trying to figure out the best height to move my motor to to get the fastest speed possible. I know this is not a rocket but I want the most that I can get without burning the motor up. What top speed, rpm, water pressure should I be looking for. So far I can not get it to turn the motor over 5450 rpm.
  3. I own a 2011 Ranger Z118 with Mercury 150 Optimax. It is great. I added an 8 inch jackplate and am playing with the height. I may have it a bit high now but ran 60 mph avg (up/down river) in 103 heat. If pricing is what really matters to people, the Nitro is much cheaper in price. I bought the Ranger for the resale value and all of the extras that came standard on it. My thought was to buy this size boat now and upgrade later but I love this boat. I have never ridden in another boat that was as easy to drive and had the ride that as soft as this boat has. If anyone has a Z118 with an Opti and JP, let me know what height yours is set at and the related specs... speed, rpm, prop etc... Once again, congrats on your new purchase and have fun with it. After all, the fish do not know what your are in, right?
