I just use 2 Improved Trilene knots joined together. I also use a 1/2 hitch in the Braided knot to prevent it slipping apart.

I found that the removing of the barb allows for a very easy hookset.

Why I use a spinning reel.

If you let a lure rest on the bottom ? The swallowed & deep gut hooks are / have to occur. I have deep throat hooks if I use live worms on a spinner. I reel quite fast with a split shot 2 to 3' ahead of the lure. If it looks & feels meatish ? They suck in DEEPER & FASTER. Why I only use no barb hooks. They come out in less than a 1/2 second with no ripped open flesh wounds / holes. I can usually just unhook them without handling their slime protection.

Every spring a herd of 11 deer use my yard as a nursery as mom goes for food.

After I catch enough fish for the guys. I relax & fish for pleasure. Last year was a lot of work time. The fish get used to boats a lot. I was getting fish pings while anchored near weed edges. The fish were coming under the boat shadow. And staying there.

I do unusual baits when the fish are VERY WELL fed in July & August. My senior friends look forward to sharing the fish.

I am a 1 lure person. The size changes for the size fish I am after.1.5" , 6", 8". If they all fail ? Jar of meat.

It all goes back to male children with adult men who fish. Why or how that condition keeps repeating is beyond me. If the men fish. The young males want to be just like them as soon as possible.

State records should be on the increase if Gobies are present. All we have is loads of big SMB up here. Gobies eat all smaller sized fish. Big SMB eat the Gobies constantly. Guess who will survive as time goes on. My money is on Gobies & the big Jumping Carp. Neither has enough big animals eating them. Oh well.

The one with more biting fish.

Long rods always favor the fish. WE are using a lever to pull the fish to use. The fish is using the LONG lever to make lifting more difficult. Dinner time

SMB in my area do not use the same areas as LMB. I also have a major invasive fish problem attacking fish nests. A pike fishing friend Is very negative about almost no pike last year. We have large winter ice contests that have caused a lot of big fish catches. The favorite winter spots are having a major reduction in the number of big fish in all species in the good old places. Good thing I like farm raised salmon. We are also seeing larger numbers of cute fish eating birds. We can see them take many different types & sizes of summer fish. All the bigger fish are still resting in the upper warm surface waters.

When I troll 100' behind the boat with 2 very different rods ? 1 is 6 # braid. Other is 60 # braid. Both are set up with a hang down weight & identical lures. Both weights are just ticking weeds and the lures are 3' above the grass or bottom. Both of the lures get hit at almost the same time. There is no noticeable favor to the smaller size line. Sunny or very rough dark day. When they are hungry ? It is like a pack of wolves attacking. 2 fish on a lure do happen.

Garmin gave you a bad unit. Call them for a replacement that is accurate.

Dense vegetables are a DIFFICULT problem. VERY difficult problem. Fish somewhere else more open. Possible GOOD side of dense slime / weeds is plenty of Oxygen. But the plants can & do generate too much oxygen sometimes. So fish move to SAFER AREAS. I would just fish more normal water............... 15 casts ?? My braided line is still DRY. You are being too impatient for a difficult water.

Never had fillet with scales. Cost too much money in the up scale restaurants.

Steady VARIED yard work with great dry weather. Is a pain free combo. 1 out of 2 is pretty good for my life.

As I aged I became more aware of falling over the side. So I started checking IF IF the shut down switch was still working. Bingo I caught it missing 1 test shutdown.......... Replaced it. 1st one since 1980s. I check the switch about 3 times each season.

Gusts to 45. Tough to also not be bothered by ALL THE POLLEN !!!! My problem. Too old for almost all outdoor work in dusty winds. I wear a mask almost all the time outdoors. What climate change ? ☠️

Small inexperienced females nest shallow. In rivers that vary a lot. Our SMB do go to about 20' to make sure the nest is free of drought...............BUUUTT that was before Gobies came around the nests. A SCUBA diver friend said he has seen big SMB nesting TOGETHER in 15 ' to protect against Gobie attacks. SMB eat Gobies a lot. Stomach contents prove that in our fish.

I too have converted 1/2 of my lures to lipless.

Before I had a motored boat. Just a bicycle. I had all the creeks checked out. So I could always have places with the wind blowing across the river to help my casts.
