  1. Same as a persons expectancy. Unknown. Varies with what you do & how you feed it.
  2. A hungry fish EATS. Line or no line. Add in it is 1/2 the diameter. It cuts right thru MOST weeds when A fish hides in them. I am converting this spring to only braid on the TROLLING flyrod. Hook rate / percentage is too good to pass up.
  3. A flyrod with worms / small spinner & worms is great with small kids or seniors with arthritis. They swing it out & swing them in. No casting is needed & the body count goes up. 15 minutes later They are experts. I ask them. As I keep attracting more fish to right in front of them Life is good.
  4. If you read up on fresh water parasites in particular. You will find that all of them are NOT KILLED by cooking. So the correct way to kill ALL KNOWN parasites is to freeze the meat completely for at least 2 weeks. Even Sushi fish ARE BY LAW in NYC frozen for the same reason. The freezing at sea time counts. USA has some weird laws at times. But freezing & killing all nasty parasites is a wonderful law & needed............Fresh fish is a relative term. If you have ever looked a some cooked fish, you will see some long skinny brown round worms deep in the fillets. I now hold the defrosted fillets up to a bright light & remove them with tweezers. All protein. Look how they have affected me..............
  5. Small 12 to 14 " Bluefish are O K.
  6. I never do anything over my anchor position. Seems soo wrong. White toilet paper & brown bars floating around ? Morning coffee at home is perfect.
  7. For light winds & reasonable currents. I carry a very small Mushroom Anchor in the bow pulley. Works fine with no points or edges.
  8. Thank you kind sir. Rich
  9. Daughter just did cookies. Great !! If you motor runs great on the 6 gallon tank ? FANTASTIC. ......................Still get rid of that old gasoline. You would kick yourself for being so cheap if it does NOT START or run smooth.. You would still be risking engine damage . IF you do not or WILL NOT have the gasoline checked for octane. DO NOT use the Octane Booster CRAP. They sure as hell do not KNOW HOW MUCH YOU WOULD NEED . Or how the Hell to EQUALLY mix it in the tank. Pump it out. & pump out ALL THE LINES & FILTERS BEFORE you put in new gasoline. AS we age we are Supposed to get more suspicious & smarter.
  10. Year ? Carb or FI ? Ethanol or not Ethanol gas in it ? I would NOT NOT try to start it at all with several years old gas..........Octane could be dangerously low by now. Low Octane WILL cause engine damage at some combinations of loads & RPMs. NOT worth the risk. I would buy a new 6 gallon tank & the right hose connectors to connect it to your engine . Change ALL FUEL & WATER SEPERATING FILTERS on the boat. Including any ON THE ENGINE . Buy & install a INLINE FILTER BIG ENOUGH FOR YOUR ENGINE to be installed in the 6 gallon setup. Cut the fuel line between the tank & the squeeze bulb. That way the installed filter stops Crap from the 6 gallon tank from causing the squeeze bulb to stop working. Hook up everything at home. DO NOT RUN THE ENGINE ON A HOSE> Take the boat to a boat launch. Back in deep enough to safely run the engine at any speeds.. You WANT the water to FULLY rise up into the lower unit pump. The water WILL wet the seal on the prop shaft. Gear shift in neutral. Pull the boat out enough to hand turn the prop. Spins easy ? Back into the water & prime the gas line with the bulb............. You have already checked that the battery water is STILL above the tops of the Lead plates in every cell ? Recharged it completely. Taken it to a favorite auto parts place & had them do a TRUE load test on it ?..........Weak battery will crank to slow & badly overheat the starter motor brushes & copper segments on the armature. BAD VERY BAD. Try to start it the same way as you used to. No go...........Too bad....Then we do the check for a spark FIRST !! ..........Then I do not do house calls any more. To old in the head to depend on. First FRIGGING THING TO check on the motor is ??????.................Pull ALL THE COVERS OFF !!! Check for mice chewing the insulation off wires. Back sides. Especially a part they can easily stand on. Check for nuts & shells in the air intake if they could get inside somehow. ..Check ALL hoses . 1 bite mark means A recheck with Lights & a MAGNIFYING GLASS.....See or smell mouse pee or stains ? Good luck. Get lucky
  11. Age has taught me that when I wanted & paid the asking prices for top names I was disappointed MANY TIMES for any reason. I expected perfect items. Now I realize that a rod from Sports Authority can be a spectacular buy !!.. Works perfect for years. Everyday. All summer. I am retired. At 1 / 10 the price LOVE the very good low cost rods & reels. Cheap can ONLY get better & better each day Most expensive ? Can only pee me off everytime I look at it if it has any problem.
  12. At 77. Martha Stuart is right. A chair of some kind is a good thing. Or a young Chickee Doo.
  13. Trout are always hungry. Even in 25 F water.. I never eat them. Hate the taste of all those small bugs in the fillets.
  14. Smallies are aggressive when asleep. Compared to a wide awake largemouths on 5 hour energy drinks.
  15. I get calls from the NJ police depts. I tell them send me a written request. Then hang up. If God called me. I would tell him the same thing. Can not assume anything anymore.
  16. There are 28" deep Jons. Some of the boats used in the gator hunters TV are AlWelds. Very long list of WELDED hulls. Tons of Jon builders on the web. Need to keep rewording the sentence to find them all. 1 make puts a FLAT FLOOR in. SWEET !! It will take you a month to check out all of them. They drift as much as any other boat when loaded with gear, Bow trolling motor.... 2 stern 2 strokes... People... 2 anchors... coolers. The Al Weld has Vs on the bottom . Reduces side movement. I would not buy the......MV ...... types. I see no real gain. only a crappy attempt to reduce the Jon into a less useful space & raise the price for doing that to you. Rectangle FLAT BOTTOM or go to a true V hull.
  17. I have caught them on slow moving lures accidently. They constantly are looking for anything easy. Dead & dying stuff. I pass also.
  18. Macho Man rips the jaws apart so the fish starves to death after the contest ends. 60# test to " save " the fish from stress, as it bounces across the surface 3 times & into the boat. I catch pike & muskies to 40 " on 4# mono. They did not need much more than that if the rod kept a bow in it. But reeling & drinking a can of beer at the same time, requires a jaw destroying, yanking as hard as possible. Seen enough guys doing it. Bigger macho men.
  19. Jon boats ARE EXTREMEL:Y SAFE...............Jerks with V hulls bad mouth any JON. Think about same length & width hulls. Which has MORE HULL CONTACTING the water surface ? Which is NOT ROUNDED to cause any rolling ? Jon boats are VERY STABILE. Get the DEEPER Jons. For kids going out in smaller protected waters . JONS all the way Their flat bottoms WILL CROSS ANY THING shallow. Lower HP needed..........I use a 9.9hp & a 30 hp. .............9.9 is the PRIMARY motor all the time. the 30 hp is to get back to safety if a sudden squall,....Dark clouds appear at any time.. Both go to WOT to either beach the boat. Or get back to the trailer You can put 9 ... 8 year olds in a big Jon NO sweat. Cheaply.........Just get the VERY DEEP HULLED ONE. Enjoy Forgot the best part.. Line up with 4 guide poles on the trailer. There is no FRIGGING lining up anything !! Wind & current NO Sweat. Be back after I see how big the Jons are now.
  20. New Jersey has poor fishing.. Constant building & road repairs has wiped out all of the food chains. They took small resivoirs & put in lake trout & Tiger muskies. Guess what happened ? Brain dead turkeys.in the parks & fish & game To put big EATING MACHINES into bass & trout tiny bodies of water. Then the clowns introduced Striped Bass in to ocean rivers.........DUUUUHHH .........Again.............Now I heard they want to put in the fresh water Bull Sharks for more licenses to be sold. It is all about the $$$$ for the pension plans.
  21. Live baits For kids & perch............I can not keep up with the ones too young to do it.
  22. I only use braid when trolling.
  23. The most important part of post # 14 is that TINY piece of plastic going thru the hole at the end of the anchor. Those anchors can hold too well in soft bottoms. You Might want to test it in 3' of water & mud bottom & sand after tugging gently on it 50 times. Then go past it & try to pull it out seated in the kayak . Could be surprised. I was in a current & wind in same direction. Thought I would roll the boat.
  24. When using the 2# test lines. I use just enough drag to stop a tangle after a fast run. Finger pressure does it o k.
