  1. I am amazed at the technology we have that can allow a level wind to chuck a 1/16 oz. I have to unwind about 100' & let it unwind as I wind up the 2# mono. It gets storage coils. Even the braids get coils. I just let out line behind the boat for a couple of minutes. Done Edit 1st dry cast is perfect. Next wet line cast is a joke. Load the reel with a weight forward or a shooting head & a 4# leader. Then the 1/16 should cast nicely
  2. O K I cast Flicker Spinners. They weigh between 1/16 to 1/40 of a ounce. Mitchell Ultra light with 2 # mono or 4# braid. Long & STIFF rod to get the air speed up there. Actually the easy way is split shot or cast downwind in a good breeze.
  3. Those tiller controlled obs are really death traps, IF the kill switch is not tied on to you & working. I converted my 16 ' fisher to a center control just to get far enough away from the prop, if I go over the side. I have had freighter wakes 4 to 5' take shots at me in that little boat It does clean out the floorboards.
  4. Call the company first. ALWAYS
  5. I had teachers who knew less about a subject than some of the kids. Title does not always mean more knowledge.
  6. When almost every cast brings in a big bass ? Leave the area immediately !! You are fishing in the breeder hatchery.
  7. Wimpies use rod & reel. Real men use hand lines.
  8. In the boats I TIE MYSELF to it. So if I fall out ? It does not leave me to die. My fault I am too lazy to tie myself to it
  9. If a door or trunk lid does not fully close ? Slam it. Brain deads do that.
  10. I would love to see a 800# gorilla reel in some pros at the same speeds. Then lift them up like they lift bass by the lower jaw & turn the jaw downward until the back is straight out............... NEAT O.
  11. True. But I use 4# normally. & 1 spool with 2# test. So I keep them dry.
  12. I just follow the fish finder if the are no docks & boats.
  13. I did not know any better. I would paint those round ended clothes pins. Caught fish. 65 years ago
  14. I use beans in every contest. Keeps everybody at the other of the boat.
  15. I did not limit today !! I want to fight !
  16. The only maintenance is spool shaft oil. Anytime a reel falls in or sits in the rain. New drag discs.
  17. Joe are we still dealing with salt water rod & reel ? What pound test is the braid ?
  18. Why would you set anything loose ? I try to keep the tension constant in any fight. I have reeled in many fish with just 1 of 6 or 9 hooks holding.
  19. I like dark non showy equipment. Except seat cushions !! White only.
  20. Totally agree. I have had a couple of BIG smallies grab EVERY perch I was reeling in.
  21. Welcome to the genetics of Catch & release. Fish DO NOT remain virgin stupid about boats, lures & making people happy.
  22. I go with top floater with rattles. They hear it first. Then come up & see it. Works for me
  23. Good observation about no smaller bass allowed in either the males or females.
  24. deakenh03 Good read on both of us. Thanks.
  25. All the side effects, including death, about almost every new drug by drug companies are sad. The lawyers appear to have found a value in them. Drug companies stay in business by selling drugs, not safely eliminating a disease. Way back in time there were cures for some diseases. Now if you have a reaction from a drug they give you another drug. Still having side effects ? We have thousands to give you. The sales of each new drug pays off the previous lawsuit drugs. Running a drug company for profit is no different than running any other company. You must show a good profit each year to stay in business. At 77 I have lived thru the GOOD years of disease controls.
