  1. How small can lines & fly tippets get That is what this Geezer needs this May 5 . Thank you
  2. Since I have totally converted to Braided Lines. I troll a LOT with 1 rod in a boat holder. I cast and hold another rod in my right hand. My eyes are on the rod in the holder. I can see EVERY tug on the line by the lure. It is hypnotic at times. My right hand has 2 fingers pinching the line. I see & feel a slightest hit by submerged junk. I wait for it to clear by itself. I use the same rods when finding a school of fish. Nothing is changed. Braided line has me packing up all but 4 rods & reels to give away. All the others are just impulse buys long ago. I have kept 1 big & 1 small flyrod to catch Emerald Shiners for meat fishing trips for all the seniors.........I can also give away 2 medium Plano boxes also. I think I am maturing in my fishing needs & abilities.
  3. I still have a excellent glass rod from 5 years after they came out. I can showoff with a power cast that has a shiner on it. Reel in a still swim crazy bait. What makes a average rod become junk in a couple of years ? Much smarter fish ?
  4. I always practiced with the exact lure I would use in varying breezes. With or against the wind. Then your casting is already muscle memorized for all the real conditions.
  5. I just realized that I have been using and doing ....Drop Shot... For about 60 of my 84 years. It is the most effective way in any lake structure during August terrible days. It can ALMOST equal using live swimming bait. About time you all caught up to me.
  6. The over filling of a reel is just their way of making more money on a customer. What is the age of that giant spool ? Sitting in the UV light of Fluorescent bulbs. Breaking strength ?
  7. I tear the lips off of a Rapala floater. Makes the speechless also.
  8. OWW OOOWWWWWWWWWW OOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
  9. Why S S is / can be better. It can be made THINNER than a Aluminum prop. So a great SS prop will always be better than the THICKER / more draggy Aluminum prop. That is all folks.
  10. I knew there was a lighter side to fishing. I enjoy joking about it. ?
  11. " Everybody go to DEEP WATER !! They are tracking us !! "?
  12. You be peeking at me ?
  13. O K I have fished thru chunks of ice drifting slowly. With MEAT. Caught a little of some types in pools.. Very inactive fight by the fish.
  14. All mine are floaters and the same color............By length only..
  15. I would pay $ 25 + tax + shipping for all of them.in 1 order.
  16. 18 years old & in a 12' hunting duck boat. Row up to the Fish Canning factory on Sunday. looking at & under the docks for any activity. See a cloud of brown baitfish. I make several casts. No takers. Last cast As I retrieve the school of bait fish start following the lure back. Stop cranking as I see 2 large eyes in the blob down there. I freeze completely. The shark head is almost as wide as my boat. I am getting cramps from the position I have been in forever. He goes back to his spot . I very slowly row far away. I never went back to that spot in 74 years. In any boat.
  17. Always want the boat to be bigger than the alligator or Bull Shark. ?
  18. No the rod is O K. But is really for light Salt Water use. Buy sight unseen or in person.? Oh well. My Mitchell 300 & 60# braid will allow trolling for sharks in Lake Ontario creeks.
  19. Bingo Bankbeater. As the sunnies keep coming closer I am doing vertical jigging sitting under a bridge piling. I can cast to other pilings & bring them all over. As soon as the fly touches the water. It is like a hatchery feeding time. No hook is used then. They do hang on. ?
  20. Dick's had some leftover 9' rods. I web ordered 1. Nice pole. Stiff fast enough tip. Good slide rings. Oh well
  21. 7' is excellent for long casts with 6 # braided. Can really toss those 1.5" Rapalas and Rebels into some wind. Mine has all cork & slide rings with 2 wraps of shiny black electrical tape. It / All of them balance between the 3rd and 4th finger when being cast. Do it 8 hours a day. Every good enough day possible.
  22. VERY VERY dry air & ground.........Humidity is less than 35 % NewRecord for my basement. Snow is not melting in the shade.
  23. Gasoline is 6.3 pounds per gallon. Water is 8.3 pounds per gallon. What does your big tackle box weigh? ? My 3 standard ? Planos total 6 ? pounds
  24. I have never lifted a rod up for a hook set. Mine is level with my belly and at about 70 degrees to the line. I just pull backwards to tighten instantly. Then go to different rod angles.
