  1. The self centered people are always in a hurry. They are the same people as in the song ...........Transfusion.........
  2. Since I am on the extreme EASTERN END of Lake Ontario. A west wind is best. East is worst. Reverse wind direction if you live on the west coast. Works even in my tiny bay area. I also have a slight bay current of west to east.
  3. My true look at 20 rods on deck. " Nurse I tripped & fell on all the lures. "
  4. Non bass competition boats with loads of rods ? The person has the money to impress passer by people that he is Pro Bass Tournament Grade !!!! His call / right. Fine with me. Wish I had made a lot more money when working. I am in the out living my retirement money income. ?
  5. Last 12 months are record bad weather for N J . We ARE getting tornados !! Large hail, snow white outs with about 45 car pile ups & deaths from being burned alive. Maybe all those experimental weather control stations by MANY countries MILITARIES is working badly ?
  6. WRB Has described PERFECTLY the life in a Lake Ontario and junction of the St. Lawrence River bass contest. Catch & cull. Catch & cull. Until they stop biting !!
  7. I have never been so short of time that I needed more than 2 rods with the exact same lure. 1 free floater. One with a weight to take it down. If they are seeing it & hungry ? Yes I have had doubles on very often with schools of SMB. They are what I am looking for. I use the same 2 rods from shore if the water is deep enough.
  8. You do not want to EVER BE on a glass boat that starts burning........ Any smoke will destroy the healthy life / body you had. There are NO healthy burning plastic / glass boats. Check with any Pulmonary / lung specialist. 1 of the reasons that made me selling off the very beautiful Chaparral 186 SSI with a 305 V 8 engine. I have adjusted nicely to the Aluminum.
  9. In 70 years of fishing almost every spare minute I had. I did casting of big lures. MAYBE.... 3 TIP ONLY guides wore line cutting grooves from 4# Mono. ALL were those S S tip guides. I replaced them ONLY. Think about that statement. ONLY the TIP guide takes almost all the forces.
  10. I never oil, almost never, any reels. UNLESS I drop the rod into the water . Geezer !!
  11. Weight can be more important than hull material. a 20" glass is a LOT heavier than a Aluminum boat same shapes. SOOOO The lighter boat is ALWAYS SAFER in equal waves. Aluminum goes over waves. Glass goes THRU waves. Been there in both types. Glass cracks open on rocks. Aluminum bends inward with no leaks. So that was easy to settle.
  12. Plenty of SALTWATER lures.
  13. The walleye is no problem. Anything works from shore. The SMB can be frustrating to keep hooked standing still on land. They are very erratic as they get BIG. Some of my repeat C & R every summer for decades are smart. They have very strong jaw muscles. So they CLAMP DOWN very hard on the bite. You are reeling in nicely. Then the line goes limp. Why ? The bass turns to you. For a second it is going way faster than you can ever crank. It that slack line second she opens her mouth & tosses the lure. Buy the long rod. I have run sideways & backwards, away to keep my success rate higher as the fish senses shallower water. AWWW SHUCKS OLd fish wins again. Those SMB are intelligent.
  14. Should I pass legislation for MANDATORY TRAINING course covering all of the posts about near fatal encounters ? I never knew a simple water sport could kill, cripple or impale a carefree fisherman. Sort of serious to get a license. I really am simple trusting person.
  15. I keep a TIGHT line until in the net. SMB are experts at tossing trebles as they come to the boat. Love them.
  16. Still use my Aluminum super shallow draft 1984 Lowe 16' for weed area, fresh water bays. I DO cross safely in 8" of water a couple of times a day. They are in there. Bought it new. I do go anywhere with motor up & using the oars. See you later. My 2002 Chaparral plastic SSI 186 and 305 V8 with 32" of water needed ? ?
  17. I feel almost normal after hearing some of your escapes.
  18. I am very desperate. I will use live bait & no barbs. I have to have bodies on ice in the buckets for friends. " Remember us Rich ? " ?
  19. I do it Capt. Phil way. But 20 casts later the twist is back Why I like braid. It can handle twisting best.
  20. 2 other very important points. You MUST pinch the LOOSE line ........Before......You start cranking in any line !! Reeling in LOOSE LINE again& again will create a ...SOFT.... Layering of the line. I have always PINCHED ALL LINE being wound onto a EMPTY SPOOL. If that is wpound on loose ? A reason for dig ins. Some reels do NOT PUT the line on at enough ANGLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!! If too close to each other or too loose ? Not a good designed reel for a beginner. My reels are TIGHT lines. I find no difference between the problems of reel tangles on bait...spin... Fly line reels. EDIT I pinch the line with a glove on the pinching fingers. + 200 ' done tightly hurts a little.
  21. My ....Dorfman Pacific company.... Hats are outstanding Machine washing. I have 5 of the beauties. The front face piece keeps small bugs out of eyes & face or neck. The chin strap is good to 40 mph. I surfed the web and site. It is still listed. Enjoy Mine are 13 to 15years old. PERFECT condition. Even all the Velcro. ?
  22. Starting............ALONE............on a bait caster is VERY frustrating. Most just quit. The reel can be a massive reason. If it does not have a line GUIDER SLOT going left and right constantly ..........SMOOTHLY..........all the time. Use about a 1 ounce lead weight to practice on a BIG over 300 foot field !!!! Set the drag to a fair amount if you pull by hand. The heavy weight is .............A MUST !!!! Can you post a picture of the the reel showing the narrow line slotted piece. A lurehas MORE air resistance then a tapered weight. The water screwing up casting ???? Bad reel. Period........No one should ever keep that reel. Return it. Call your C C company for a refund If place will not TAKE IT BACK !!!!! Better luck on your next reel. Price you spent on it ? Others can reccomend a reel in that price range.
  23. Remember ................YOU have to sweat !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or you are dehydrating your guts !!!! I used to not drink while on the water. O K Then I passed a JAGGED BLACK Kidney Stone. Pain was so bad I was hallucinating & sweating on the stretcher. The hospital E R tossed me into a bed & I V needle for a day. Nurse said my pain was about 1/5 of a woman giving birth . I now go thru water bottles faithfully each trip. I sweat a little & feel NOT TIRED at 3 pm.
  24. If I can get out before sunrise. The fish cooperate nicely. Alas My 8:30 am are not well received.
