  1. kinda classic, heck not even sure they sell them anymore but the strike king grass frog is my all time go-to...Im sure there are better out there now but its a killer in the pads and the legs make a good wake in open water
  2. Im usually fishing Grove or greenline ponds off the wolf with some pretty decent success, has anyone ever fished any of the main river on the wolf or on up the Ghost with any luck??
  3. I flatten my barbs on flies while trout fishing and havent lost many. but I seem to keep better pressure when realing in with my fly rod. I havent tried it with bass fishing, would be interesting to know if you get some thrown hooks with the head shaking..
  4. Thats cool, I really want to get some outriggers on my canoe and do this myself on some bigger water like pickwick or KY lake. Do you stay in the back coves to avoid the main lake waves, or is it sturdy enough to venture out a bit? Got to try this out!!
  5. yeah Neshoba is my go to since its on my way home from work and fairly easy to get in and out, but I cant say I expect alot. There are still occasional bigs caught there but they are really sporadic. You ever fished the runoff ponds off of wolf river pkwy, by the medical offices? I call it snake pond for obvious reasons, not one single time I've been I havent stepped across a snake, BUT I also get some decent bass every once in a while out of them.
  6. I hit grove at noon a few days ago, the bluebird day when the wind was whipping and cold...anyway no luck there and didnt see the other fellas catching any either. Went that same afternoon to the chick fila pond right after work and managed to catch a couple really small bass on a drop shot robo worm. Been slow at the ponds lately for me. Excelent weather to wet a line though!!
  7. I have an older falcon cara 6'6 MH and it is by far my favorite I own. I like the skinnier profile of the butt on the falcons and the full cork, agree with mike on good tip flex for hook set and the backbone is tight with good feel. Not sure about their newer technique specifics. I do tend to go for my 7'0 duckett or bps for a little stiffer tip for top water, seems to feel a little better with braid and with top water esp. Frogs. I like the guides better on the falcon though. Love to know what you end up with! Chuck
  8. I hear ya on taking it back. I've already taken back once for this same thing. Sounds like its a common problem
  9. no, I havent found a way to view the lat/lon on the free webapps, acmemapper has the lat/lon, if you have it open in another window you could fairly accurately get to the general lat/lon but not sure how accurate it would be...
  10. I have a 6.6 spinning rod, love the action and feel of this rod, but it has broken twice now while setting the hook or fighting the fish. BPS actually let me return within the warranty period both times but I opted for a skeet reese the second return. Maybe I just had bad luck twice, otherwise really liked the rod
  11. I hit the chick-fila pond a couple times last week early with zero bites, herb parsons I hit with the kiddos and the little I fished I got zero-ed again grove park and day care at lunch a couple days and again zero, then had a buddy who lives on walnut grove lake took me out on Friday for a slump busting 40-50 bass afternoon. Restored my faith in fishing and the rattle trap
  12. 1 baitcast and 1 spinning on a bank walk, the same on my canoe, for the club tournaments back of the boat, Im ususally taking 3 baitcasters and 1 spinning for drop shot and shakey heads
  13. I drop and shakey almost exclusively on spinning using lighter line, would love to try with a baitcaster setup if someone has found a good lighter line & weight setup
  14. Would replacing my tip guide with a full size guide cause any issue in casting or feel with all other guides remaining the stock micros on my Duckett? Like the rod but the eyes in the micro tips keep popping out and I seem to have better luck with my other rod tips holding up to my abuse!
  15. navionics.com and click on the webapps at the top right of the page. you can zoom in on most big lakes, pickwick and most (if not all in may area) of the TN river impoundments once you zoom in fully will load the full topo of the lake with roadbeds, creeks, etc noted...
