  1. welcome watermelon red senko won a tournament with that bait
  2. i have found that if they are in there like you say they are (the water looks like it is solid shad) then 99% of the time they will not bite anything i throw unless it is a reaction bite because no matter how hard i try i will not be able to match the shad when there is that many around your chances are about a million to one "literally" i would pack up and move but keep the spot in mind because shad move fish move anything could happen
  3. I am interested in this project but have some questions. You say data base that to me is alot of info to collect there is alot of baits our there so please explain just how far your taking that. If it is going to be a program i would put every stat or feature know to man because there is so many different ways to fish for 1 species not to mention the others. I have alot of features on my log and it is kinda cluttered but i plan on printing it and putting it in my boat to keep up with it fish by fish ( post #35. http://www.bassresou...g-logsjournals/) I guess one thing that would be neat would be when you type in the lake name it would generalize the selections that pertain to that lake. For ex. Lake: Sam Rayburn - Water clarity: Stained, Muddy - Bottom: sand, clay, rock - Vegetaiton: grass, hydrilla, stumps, laydowns, but you could still pick different options i could go on forever i will ask some friends of mine who fish alot more than i do for some info Email me qjoeswift@aol.com and i will help you get this done. Good idea though
  4. I remember getting them and other like it i didnt fish with it but i got a bone popr with a red dodge symbol on it and i think it is the most deadly bait in my t-box
  5. I use a carrot stick with a 7.1:1 citica yea its work but it also works the prize is always worth the pain. try moving or changing your body, hand, rod positions in between casts without changing up the retrieve. It is just like sitting in one spot for a long time your butt gets to hurting so you move or adjust good luck
  6. well i thought a main lake point was on the main lake and a secondary point was a point cove or branch of the lake that would not be considered the "main lake". I call them secondary points all the way back to the back of the creek or branch or whatever. When it gets to where you were fishing i call them back water points it just helps me break the area down a little bit more I would probably fish a shaky head or a small crank bait that was a little to deep for the depth of water so it would dig the pea gravel both of them would make noise on the gravel sometimes that helps too. Really what you call a point only matters to you. I a fishes eyes a point can be 3 inches tall and 2 foot long or it could be 3o foot deep and a mile long get my drift
  7. Well KVD could sell Bark to a tree because he could catch fish with it too but recently i had the chance to fish a 3 day tournament with Jason christie as my partner and from now on i will have those baits with me. It is one thing for them to try and get you to buy something in a store but it is another for them to show you what it will do
  8. Well i travel for a living and when i come home i like to fish so you can imagine the amount of profanity wy wife uses. Everybody is right they will never like it unless your KVD or somebody that brings home 100,000 grand a week or whatever it is but if you can get on her nerves without making her mad she will tell you to go or you can do it the normal way and earn some brownie points
  9. I was 9 years old and wade fishing with my dad during spawning season on Rayburn i will never forget it not only for the fish but because the fire ants were floating around on the lake in little balls. The lake was way up that year and i guess it flooded them out, but anyway i had a plum trick worm rigged wacky style on a finacky hook. I threw it out and let it sit (you know how hard that is being 9 yrs old) so i was playing with the balls of ant try to drown them and felt a tug set the hook the best i could when she hit the top of the water i didnt know what to do. I wasn't going to let my dad do it for me so i just turned toward bank and headed out dragging the fish to bank because i couldn't reel it in. She weighed 10 lbs 10 oz's If you have children take them fishing they will never forget it i promise
  10. I Like the crank bait any kind it would solve the wind problem if it come up or a berkley power worm
  11. I would say 4 to 5 pounds more toward 4 its pretty skinny but was probably pretty fun to catch on that ultra lite
  12. this is funny because i just joined yesterday and right before i joined i made my own log up on an excell spread sheet because the others on the internet were not enough info for me for some reason i can not send it as an attachment so here is my email just contact me and i will send it to you if it is not what you need just adapt it to what you do need. I think a journal is an anglers best tool besides a rod and reel. Qjoeswift@aol.com Daily fishing log 1-5-12.doc
  13. Well first i would go with an excalibur one knocker preferably in rayburn red then to a suspending jerkbait but if the water is muddy dont forget to get the colorado blades out and throw that slow roller
