  1. So it ain't skill its you bag full o big money baits that wins huh?
  2. I'm sayin they bought their reputation. I really don't see those japanese guys consistently beating the bomber, strike king guys either sooooo
  3. Not if you fish rocks or trees it don't, it frays like crazy, so does fluoro for that matter though its tougher than braid (abrasion wise). I also think it would be much easier to line watch with a straighter link to the lure, otherwise you have a big loop that has to get taken up before you notice the line moving. I can get down with straight braid for whatever you want but i'm sayin why use the leader? People are giving the advantages of fluoro but then why not just use fluoro, the leader negates the braids strength and low stretch imo so it is redundant.
  4. Its like fishing with 5 rods at once, which ain't legal. That is what people have a problem with. Baits with 2 hooks are still just one bait. I also think the double rigged flukes should be banned as well or allow everything like walleye guys.
  5. Well yeah you might want less strength but why bother with the braid in that case? In other words if you negate the strength then why use it in the first place? Basically what I am saying is braid is great for flipping but why would you use it for anything requiring a leader? Unless you just don't want to have to respool or something.
  6. Guys im pretty sure the comment about the 500 dollar combo was sarcasm!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. You don't find it outrageous that they came out of nowhere, sponsor a bunch of pros and started selling crankbatis for 5 times what other companys are selling their stuff for? Japan is notorious for charging way too much for everything driving up prices around the world in the process.
  8. I personally don't find braid any easier to cast than fluoro. I get why you would use straight braid but adding the leader negates the strength and the low stretch. Contrary to popular belief fluoro is not low stretch.
  9. fools as in the slang version. You know, fools, cats, dudes, whatever. If you have confidence in something and can consistently produce then i guess its worth it for you, but it angers me that we end up having to pay outrageous prices to wrap Skeet Reese's truck and boat for him. Its maddening
  10. I don't agree, They work, sure, but people see those big dollar signs and think wow this must be the shiznit. Then throw them 5 to 1 more times compared to a cheaper crank and all of a sudden wow these things catch more fish. I haven't found them to be special in any way.
  11. You don't have the chance of hangin up that video game in a tree and losin your 50 bux either. I'd love to know how many people have lost 15 dollar lures that never caught a single fish, basically you threw 15 bux into a tree. It makes me sick that they sell this crap based on hype. And kvd keeps smoking the megabass, luckycraft fools throwin a bait that costs about a third the price. It happens in the guitar industr constantly. For example a 150 dollar guitar pedal was being hyped up all over the web and some guys pulled it apart and found it to be a 30 dollar chinese pedal that these guys scraped the name off of and repainted the box.
  12. Why bother with the braid in the first place? All of those things you mentioned can be fixed by simply not using braid, so why bother? What are the advantages i guess is my question, not really trying to argue, just learning more
  13. Correct response to a smart #$$ question is a smart #$$ answer. In these cases i usually go with..... You are absolutely right i should have spent that money on blow and pros! Or I should has bought 300 dollars worth of (insert whatever stupid crap your friends/family inevitably waste their money on).
  14. You don't ride a bike up hill in fast gear now do ya? Pedaling slower won't get the job done you gotta drop down to the lower(bigger) gear. Takes less effort to do the same job. Reeling a fast gear reel slower is not the same as using a low gear reel.
  15. Funny story along these lines, I was fishing with a friend of mine for the first time and he apparently had just got his first baitcaster. I was runnin the trolling motor just flippin around pretty close to the bank makin little soft pitches and things. Now I have been fishing for so long I have no memories of my first fishing trips, apparently i went as soon as i could walk, so casting is something effortless to me and i take it for granted. Newho im mindin my own buisness like i said and i suddenly became aware of this massive whoosh sound. I turn and he is making these monster KVD whip casts to the bank not more than 20 yards in front of us. I said what is wrong with your reel? He grins a little and hands it to me and i swear he had the spool locked down so tight it was almost like pullin on a weak drag when in free spool. Obviously he did this to prevent backlashes and in hindsight that was clever. It was hilarious though and he was worn out about an hour in hahaha
  16. missing the point. Being right handed means you can do more intricate/precise things better with that hand. Reeling is the thing you do 90 percent of the time you have a rod in your hand so why would you do that with your odd hand?
  17. All of my rods are powell max and they are awesome! quick story my friend and I were fishing a tournament and the bites were super lite and I was killin em while he couldn't catch a cold using the same bait. I loaned him one of my powells and he quickly boated his limit. His rod was a browning so not exactly a crapper but was no match for the powell max baby!
  18. Anyone tried adding lead tape to the blank just above the lower handle? I remember when the pros used to add it to the tips of fast graphite rods to slow the action down when suspending baits first hit big, before the use of slower graphite and glass
