  1. Mine came in a box.
  2. I would get the bantam or metanium and not look back. I like the DC, use it often, but there's no comparison.
  3. .2 oz difference is a combination of the handle and larger gear. I can tell a difference between my HG and XG as well. I've actually purchased a lot of 100mm and even 105mm aftermarket handles though, because they're more comfortable to me. I don't know if it's because I have really long fingers or whatever, but those 84mm and even 90mm to an extent, feel like toy handles to me.
  4. In fairness, most of these are made by the same manufacturer as Okuma, 13, Lews, Abu, etc. Just a different sticker on the side.
  5. None of the brands pay me to use their products, so I have no favorite. I just buy whatever interests me. Could be a $50 reel, or a $500 reel.
  6. Pretty simple process. I usually try to hold the drag star down when sliding the handle off, because it will spring off sometimes. Other thing to look for is shim washers. Usually they're stuck to the back of the handle with oil. They help keep the drag star from rubbing directly on the handle and help keep it from having any excess play.
  7. Slower action than I prefer for jigs and t-rigs. I liked it a lot for squarebills though. It casts a mile, for sure.
  8. ALX Enox Decoy. You can use a coupon code to get it down to around $280. That T1100 graphite is as good as it gets, at any price.
  9. I'd bump it to 15lb. 12lb Invizx is about the same diameter as most 8 or 10lb mono. It's relatively stretchy as fluorocarbons go in exchange for handling nicely. Doesn't offer much abrasion resistance in the thinner pound lines.
  10. I actually prefer the Panfish rods over the Avid. I think the handles are more comfortable. I agree with the above about using a light, rather than an ultralight. I noticed no real difference in sensitivity between the Avid and Panfish models. I think the SC4-SC2 blend in the Panfish models is pretty decent. I wish they used better guides, but they are very light.
  11. It's a pretty standard looking handle, aside from the lack of a grip behind the reel seat. I cast two handed 99% of the time and never have seen the need for a grip beneath the reel seat, so I think it will work well.
  12. Best ones are a little further out. Bone Creek near Pittsburg is a good bass lake. Sooner in OK has some big bass. Marion County Lake has good numbers (not Marion Resevoir). There's a really good pond in Wichita, if you don't want to use the boat for a day. It's behind Ruth Clark Elementary on 55th south and Meridian. I've caught as big as 8lb out of there in years past. Best frog and buzzbait fishing I've ever found in KS.
  13. It came out in 2017 and it's based on the Tatula CT platform.
  14. 46t graphite with Fuji K SiC guides and a lifetime warranty for $220-$240, and they don't look bad. I never thought I would ever type these words, but one of the products I'm most excited to try is an Okuma rod ?
  15. When the spool was completely full, it was almost like there were no brakes at times. Then I'd crank it up and it'd cast 15 feet then the brakes would choke it off. I had to remove line to get the weight down to find a sweet spot.
  16. I think if you hold your hand more forward on the reel, it's more narrow than the CT. I must hold it further back than some folks because that bulge was awful, but I've liked all the Tatula frames. Casting on the Alphas CT was finicky, but excellent. It did not like a full spool of fluorocarbon at all. Once I cut it down to a half spool, or the first line on the SV spools, it was really good. Lowest I used was a 1/16 plus plastic, but I could flip it out there a ways with little effort.
  17. I didn't find it as comfortable to palm. The sideplate bows out too far on the Alphas reels and just fits my hand awkwardly.
  18. Where did you come up with that information? Per TW website the handle for the Sierra is 12 1/2" and the Tatula is 14 1/4". Both of these measurements are from the rear to the top of the foregrip. Considering the Dobyns has no foregrip, the actual handle length will be roughly the same.
  19. Yes sir. I didn't care for the 2020 SV. Wasn't a bad reel by any means, but the previous model was a little better, in my opinion.
  20. Shimano US says 130%, Australia site says 30%.
  21. Number I saw said 130%. Either way they look like great sticks. Even 50% of the Adrena they'd be a good value.
  22. I think those reels were the most refined Tatula version. The new Elites are awesome, but that generation SV looked good and performed excellent. I'm sure you'll be happy with it for years to come.
  23. I've caught 10lb+ catfish on my Fuego and it has never flexed or struggled at all.
  24. I think it'd look real slick on the new Zodias rods.
