  1. If it's fluorocarbon, it won't deteriorate. I've been buying my line from ebay and Amazon for years and have never gotten a bad spool. If it's counterfeit, they should open their own companies because they do a great job.
  2. I got my Invizx 1000 yard of 8lb on ebay for $68.98, and a 15lb for $80 just last week. I don't know why people would pay the prices some of these retailers charge. It's nearly double at times.
  3. I buy bulk of pretty much everything, unless I find a deal on a filler spool. Amazon and ebay tend to be the cheapest, unless there's a sale somewhere.
  4. I haven't had problems with my Fuegos or any other Daiwas, but it's always a possibility. Pro max has a higher max drag at 18lb vs 13-14lb for the Fuego. Pro Max has a graphite frame and side plates, so I don't know how long it'd last buckled down. The Fuego drag is very smooth and strong enough for most applications. Can always upgrade to carbontex for relatively cheap if necessary. MagZ braking system is far superior to the static magnets on the Pro Max as well. As I said earlier, it's really not much of a comparison in my opinion.
  5. The ultimate is the Orochi X4 Destruction F6-72X4. It's shorter than what you're looking for though. Longer than 7'6", I'd look at the Tatula Elite AGS 'Long cast frog'. It's 7'9" and not many people know frogs as well as Ish. Never held that particular rod, but the 7'4" version is a excellent. All the Elite AGS rods I've used have been really nice crisp actions.
  6. Fuego. Not really much of a comparison, in my opinion. That Fuego compares favorably to pretty much any reel under $150 and some above that.
  7. It has always been stronger than graphite, to my knowledge, at least in reel manufacturing. Reel manufacturers spend millions on r&d trying to find ways to make graphite as rigid as metal in that application.
  8. Who said they were taking fish out every day? My family has a big fish fry every couple months and we keep a lot of fish out of the pond on our property to prepare for it (upwards of 100). It is still plentiful and has only been stocked once. I'm sure there's a good number of folks that keep none or very few and the family in question may not keep more after they stocked up. It'd be a little alarming if people were keeping 100 fish per day, but that was never mentioned until you said it.
  9. Then you should be mad at the PA Wildlife department. Not people abiding by their rules.
  10. Are they keeping within the lake limit? If so, I don't really see the issue.
  11. Are you fishing from the bank? The rod will handle somewhat thick grass just fine. They probably suggested it because it's one of the heavier spinning rods in their Sierra lineup and designed for plastics. That doesn't have much to do with casting distance though.
  12. I like them on the SV for finesse techniques. Don't think I'd enjoy cranking with them at all.
  13. A 5" senko? Because those are missiles. If it's a 4" or smaller, then it's possible the rod might be struggling to load, but dobyns usually fish a little lighter, so it shouldn't be an issue. Is the spool underfilled at all? With 10lb braid you should be able to launch a senko, especially with a weight.
  14. What weight baits are you using? A mh rod will struggle to load with finesse baits.
  15. They're not much larger, but there's a little more to grab on to than the new skinny daiwa knobs. I have ordered those carbon handles similar to that, but never one with knobs. Abu Garcia handles will fit a Daiwa as well, so you might be able to order the same handle as the revo. Knobs won't fit daiwa posts though. I've been eyeballing the H2o Xpress carbon handle from academy for $20, but they're not in stock here in town to see what they look like.
  16. I replaced mine with the SLP Cork knobs. They're like $15 from Asian Portal. I made a reel order and ordered 6 knobs to combine shipping costs.
  17. Tackletrap has the old Tatula handle with knobs for $20.99. Best bet would probably be a wtb in the for sale. Lots of guys change out knobs a lot, so they probably have some laying around. I know I have two of the old flat knobs from the ct, but one is missing the end cap. I'd just give them away.
  18. Those numbers are all different between manufacturers, so I really don't know. Tatula is a 100, Curado is a 200. Reels are the same size. They're plenty comfortable.
  19. Still two reels essentially at different ends of the spectrum. They just share a manufacturer.
  20. I'd prefer none of my rods had hook keepers. Daiwa has been especially bad at locating them lately. Megabass rods are just the tip of the iceberg. Their bait selection is incredibly unique.
  21. It all depends on the quality of graphite and resin. Cheap materials on a skinny ferrule can still make a heavy unwieldy rod.
  22. If it had a stella on it, maybe it'd be 2% believable.
  23. I probably have more than I can use in a lifetime anyway. Maybe now I'll have an excuse to use it instead of buying more. I did find some cool stuff at atwoods the other day though. Didn't even know they had fishing stuff.
  24. I have a First Strike 705, and a Black Widow 735. 705 feels like a Loomis to me. The 735 blank is almost 1/2" diameter at the handle. Looks really weird. That said, it's extremely sensitive. Fit and finish was okay. About as good as you'd see from most manufacturers. I like them, but I'm not in a rush to buy more. I'll stick with Kistler if I want an NFC blank.
  25. Procyon are all around, multi-species. Fuego are technique specific bass rods.
