  1. Got to come down to south springs, where all the canals off shoot from the c-14.
  2. I always just make sure the sticker thats on the spool is facing up. I dont use a spooling station, to me its a waste of money. Just lay the spool on the floor run the line throught the first guide before the reel, and use your fingers to apply a little bit of resistance while reeling the line on the spool.
  3. Where did you go?
  4. Had a blast buddy. We shal do it again sometime soon.
  5. Its deemed snakehead day! They better run for their lives. FYI, the best time to hunt them is in the afternoon, they are more active then.
  6. I am the avid lizard fisher. They are my favorite bait to fish. I am the most productive when it comes to fishing with these things. I T rig them with a 1/8 oz bullet weight on my 20# Yozuri set up, and also a 1/32 oz bullet weight for my 12# light style fishing. Both ways makes for a different action. Either way, you can fish the bottom, middle, or top of the water with these things. I personally use the Zoom products. Down here in the Everglades, my most productive color near the surface is a watermelon seed with either chartreuse or red flake. Going deep, or on an overcast day, I may switch to a junebug, or candy color. I have tried the Rage brand, but for the extra money, I dont catch anymore fish. Zoom products are the brand I mostly use for $ and performance. Also try the ultra-vibe speed worms, they are a producer too. Good luck!
  7. Never caught one with tackle. I used to grab the tails as they swam around me while I was snorkling at Red Reef Park. One almost bit me it was soo mad.
  8. Spook fishing? My favorite! Stripers? Hell yeah! Lookinh forward to catching something different.
  9. Lots of good information to be obtained from this site. Basshunter and I live in the Coral springs/Margate area. I've Ben fishing since I was 6, so I've been around a little bit, since I'm now 29.
  10. wow, that would be awesome. As long as I dont have to work the fire house I will surely be there. The only thing is another one of the girls boyfriends will be with me.
  11. all the old jewelery that your wife doesnt want anymore, just wrap them around a hook and toss it in the ocean. LOL
  12. I still dont belive this guy exists. I think its just a computer that puts posts every once-in-a-while. Seriously though, hes got some great advice, and if I ever need a reel repaired (and since I take very good care of my equipment, I dont think Im gonna need it anytime soon) I will be sure to use him. Hats off to you, you have a good thing going Mike.
  13. When a bass takes a worm or soft plastic bait, they take the bait. In my experience, when I fish my soft plastics (which is most of the time), when I feel that distinct bass bite, reel in a bit and feel that its got a good hold by just pulling the rod enough to feel it tug back, then cross that fishes eyes with the hook set. This has never failed me. The small little quick tug tug tug, is uually an bluegill/bream. Even the small bass dont bite like that, they still have that distinct tug, its just not that strong. When I fish soft plastics its usually a 6" Zoom Lizard, with a 3/0 EWG hook. Even that setup, I can still hook a bass that is only 8" long. When bass want something, they will inhale that thing, you just have to feel it. Where are you fishing? I dont see your area location.
  14. you pop the rod as if you were fishing a topwater plug. Pretty much that is what the frog is, a holoow weedless plug. Pop the rod tip a couple of quick pops, then let the frog sit a second. Then pop a couple times, then let it sit. Just remember, frogs in the wild dont swim fast in the water. They kind of scoot a bit then sit. Its when that frog sits, that bass is gonna nail it. Also they like to trap the prey, so keep it close to cover.
  15. Get the frog at the edge of the grass and with a slow cadence, bring it through some lilly pads or whatever cover there is. When the fish strikes, you have to give it a second before you set the hook. Alot of the time the fish will miss the frog and it will just throw it. Its a pain to fish, but it takes patience.
  16. That little boat ramp, the other side is a forested area. Just to the south of it is a park. That little canal is loaded with bass. I caught a 5.5 out of there right where that canal T's off. You prob seen me around. I live in Springs. Anytime you may want to meet upband fish.
  17. I dove in the Everglades to get my phone. After paying $100 for another one, I should have let the thing sink and reported it stolen to get a new one free. FML.
  18. Going to a wedding with my wife up there. She told me there are going to be a few days that Im going to need to entertain myself. No problem. One of her friends boyfriends is gonna bring some fishing gear too. So, anybody can give me a few good lakes/canals in the area to fish? No boat. Just gonna be driving around in the rental car. Also, any specific baits that work well up there? Going for bass, what else is there to fish for as well?
  19. Looks like the small canal there by that park in coconut creek by copans and lyons.
  20. Yeah, its hard to beat that E series. They were what the old Bantam greenies were. Gonna be one of those collectible reels. If you get your hands on some, take good care of them.
  21. Never used one. Just lay the spool on the ground, and pinch the line between my fingers as its reeled in. Halfway give a spray of L&L, then finish reeling in the rest. Never had a problem for 15 years. Spend your money on better stuff.
  22. Ok then, try the YoZuri. This stuff holds up very well. The 12# has a breaking strength of 20#
  23. Ive never gone lighter than 12# Yozuri myself, and thats on my 50E for light baits. My other reels have 20# Yozuri, and 65# Spiderwire. As for your frog rod, you should be at a 7.1 reel to horse those fish out of the cover. Anyway you go about it, make sure you have enough b@11z to keep the fish from beating you.
  24. I cant tell you how to stay away from BPS, because I have the disease too. My wife has accepted the fact, and understands (sometimes). I think they should have meetings for people like us, but they should be out on the water. Just like hootie, its a collection thing. I have different reels for different things. You will see that some people prefer to use the same kind of reel so that they have a very good understanding of how they perform. Me on the other hand, I have an assortment of different reels, each with their own personality, and each used for different fishing styles. Have a good time, and enjoy the relaxing days out on the water.
