  1. Curado 50E. EDIT:Sorry, just saw you said you were lefty, then get the 51E.
  2. Do not get XF tip, that is too much tip for what you need. Stick with just a Fast tip. A MH/F and a reel that is a 6.something gear ratio, a 7.something will be too fast for spinners, the 6.something will give you a better all around speed.
  3. Shimano Chronarch 50E, still made in Japan, still one of the best reels ever made.
  4. LEWSER! Haha, couldnt resist. Enjoy those Chro..........well, I wont sell you out yet.
  5. YoZuri 12# X2. I use it on my Curado 50E to thro my lighter baits, and ALOT of around town use. Being as strong as it is, I am not afraid to tackle 10# Snakeheads with it, and as cheap as it is, not afraid to cut line. Cant beat it.
  6. Go to Walmart and get one of theose budget Abu combos. They get a lot of good feedback.
  7. Using braid for treble hook baits its no problem, the only thing you have to do is use a softer rod. Instead of a MH, go for a M. This helps for the rod to take some of the load off the hooks when setting and fighting the fish since the braid has no stretch. When trying to go real deep with braid, you need to stick to a thinner braid in the 30# area.
  8. I had the Extreme, but the new low profile one. Its a nice smooth reel. I would get it over the Abu.
  9. You have to figure out how the fish want it, or if there are any fish where you are throwing. Ive caught them on all different retrieves, it all depends on the day. I get most of my worm bites either as reaction bites, or hopping along the bottom when they are deep.
  10. You can use either one, the difference with the casting is the ability to get a more accurate cast due to being able to stop the spool with your thumb.
  11. Great rod, strong backbone. I use them, works just fine.
  12. That made me laugh pretty hard, Im not gonna lie. Keep it up and I will tell on you for a certain 2 things you purchased.
  13. Use YoZuri and be done with it.
  14. Maybe they are deep? Maybe they are localized to another area? The bass in my canal tend to change locations frequently depending on fodd source. You just have to find them. Its part of the game.
  15. A T-Rig with a 1/8 to 1/4 oz weight is good. Use a 4/0 or 5/0 hook. Tequila Sunrise is my fav.
  16. Yeah, they work good, I use them. I had accidently bought a bag when I was not paying attention to what I was grabbing, and said "what am I going to do with these?". So i tried them on my jig, and it worked. Good stuff.
  17. I had to go 50/50 on that. Because you can be taken either way. Good line and bad rod is not good, as well as a good rod and bad line. You have to have a fine median.
  18. You cant put the Sellus in that category. Dont get me wrong the Sellus is a great rod, but its a little bit lower than the other 2. I would switch it over to a Clarus rod, then you will be better off.
  19. Haha. I knew this post was going to be in here. Well, I cant say anything for the spinning reels since I dont fish them. As far as the baitcasters, I would try to stick with the E series as much as possible. Im not saying the G series is bad, because they arent, but the E is a very proven line. As a owner of all the E series lineup, I can say that they are some of the best models that Shimano has produced to date. Any one of these models would do great to the fishing enthusiest. The Citica E is an amazing caster for swim/worm/plastics. The Curado 200E is a wonderful reel to spool with tough braid and a hollow frog, since this is a great reel to cast lighter baits smooth and far. The Chronarch 200E, well, you can do just about anything with it, and it found its way as a heavier weighted soft plastic rig with 20# Yozuri. The Curado 50Eand Chronarch 50E are the best things to have for your lighter line and finese fishing, spinnerbaits, crankbaits, etc. The G series line is still a great lineup, but I only have the Citica G, and its found its way as my topwater reel with 17# mono, and it casts my spooks and poppers miles away. If this helps you at all, or if you have any questions I am more than willing to help you out in any way that I can. Just stay away from those Lews guys, they are bad news. Hehe
