I wouldnt place it on the rod. I know some people who could out fish me with a $20 Shakespeare combo. But Im sure it will make the experience more pleasurable with that bad boy!
Depending on how thick of cover it is will depend on how well its going to work. That line is tough, but too many pads will hinder that. Save the line for a rig that you will use in more open water, and get yourself some 40# braid at least. I use 65#, but I fish some heavy cover with it down here.
A 51E isnt the best choice of a reel to use for frogging, the 200E7 would be a better choice, but if you are going to use it, spool it with at least 40# braid, and look into the Sellus Flipping rod, its a great deal for $70, and its very strong.
Dont buy the Clarus rod, I have broken 2 of them in the last 3 months, they dont hold up. If anything, get the Sellus MH Worm and Jig rod, that thing has a better backbone, and its only $50.
So Im going on my long awaited honeymoon to Boston and Maine. At the end of the trip we are going to be at my wifes Grandfathers house on the NW side of Unity Pond. I am bringing a 7'0 MH 2 piece pole, and my 50E spooled with 12# YoZuri. Any suggestions as to what baits to use, what is up there to fish for In the Maine area, and is that rig going to be enough to fish with because I am only able to bring one.?
I have a 7' M Vendetta, those things aare stiff, to me its like a MH. I have my 50E on it with 12# YoZuri, and its got some backbone to do just about anything.
