  1. Went back to canal again today to see if it was a fluke on Saturday. What do ya know, 2 1/2 hours and 13 Bass later. Super Hogs!!!!
  2. So while at Bass Pro the other week I accidently picked up a bag of Zoom Super Hawgs instead of Brush Hogs. Well, yesterday I was a kids birthday party with my Fiances family, when I spotted the fact that we were on a canal at the park we were at. Lucky for me I keep a Abu Garcia Cardinal spinner in the trunk of my car. By the way her uncle and her Grandfather both avid anglers, and were not prepared, haha. So I decided to start throwing in after about an hour of kids screaming driving me to fish. Started off using my usual Brush Hogs in watermelon seed, and no luck for about 10 minutes. I could see them in there, they just wouldnt bite. I said to myself, why not try these Super Hawgs out just for the hell of it. Holy crap! These fish went nuts on these things. The way I fished them was using 10lb mono, size 4 hooks, no weight, just toss them and reel them slow while jerking them a little bit. I caught 6 bass in about 30 minutes. They were all around 2.5 lbs, but it was good fishing for the canal it was. Since I normally use a baitcaster with 65lb spiderwire, it was kind of fun to play around with a light tackle setup on these fish. If you get a chance, or you have used them before, they work pretty good. Cant wait to try them in the Everglades.
  3. Saw a few the other month in the canal that runs along Sawgrass Expy near where it joins to US27. They wouldnt bite at anything, were about 3-4 lbers. Also, there are a lot of snakeheads that are in that canal system that are migrating around. They got in there from the C-14 canal.
  4. Oh, OK, I didnt know there was another one, Bass Pro only shows the one, its orange and grey colored with cork handles if that helps.
  5. Only my #1 is my plastic setup. Shimano Curado, Berkley Lightning rod med/heavy, 65lb spiderwire. I use a 0/5 Hook, with 1/8 bullet weight. Lizards, Paddletails, Brushhogs, etc. I can use them all on the same rig. (this is why its my #1).
  6. I like to take the hind end(rear legs and tail section) of my Zoom Lizards and make them trailers for my spinner bait. For some reason the watermelon red lizard end with a green and chartreuse skirted spinner makes them LMB crazy.
  7. Bass Pro Shops at 5am for the Enigma rod and reel combo for 69.95. what a deal, new jig rig.
  8. Lets see, when I go fishing(no matter what time of the year), I have a rig for spinnerbait, a rig for crankbait, a rig for jig, a rig for lizars/worms, a rig for Kermy Frog, a rig for spook,.......I cant choose ONE! Just throw them all, there soo much fun to play with!
  9. Mines got to be the Zoom Lizard in Watermelon Red. Caught soo many on these wonderful little creatures.
  10. Bass Pro Shops PRO QUALIFIER, best bang for the buck!!!!!! Berkley Lightning Rod, and some 65lb Spiderwire. Never fails!
  11. All my setups (all baitcasters) are equipped with 65lb Spiderwire. Each one set up for different lures, all use polymer knots, no leaders, no mono-fill in the spools. Most spools now-a-days have holes to tie the braid into, and are built to handle braided line. If no holes, a clove hitch works to hold the line still.(Firefighter rope knot, works great) Only downfall to the braid is it will lose its color over timely use, but can be solved with green paint pen or a green sharpie marker.(or whatever color you use) I do a lot of heavy cover fishing down here in the Everglades, and we have these Snakeheads that are a fun catch too, so I dont take any chances on losing my fish. I also do a lot of bank fishing too, and take at least 3 with me. Also, if its the guides on the rods you are worried about, Berkley makes the Lightning Rod for a fair price around $50, I have 4 of them, and they are designed for superlines(braided). Im new to this forum, but I like the style. Hope I have been of some help. Keep your hooks sharp and line wet.
